Re: London Entertainment Resort - General Discussion

Every country has a strict permitting system, and the UK's is a lot less proscriptive than others. We tend to have high standards that you say you'll adhere to - it's up to the developer to meet them: the local authority won't double check every single element before work starts. In fact, the NSIP p...

Re: The Alton Towers Dungeon - New for 2019?

I'm a broken record on this one, but look back at the plans for the Jazz Land development.  Putting the Dungeons in the CatCF building is practical, but might it not work better in some of the buildings that back on to the Towers themselves?  That way you come out of Hex and enter a similar area.  E...

Re: SW9

An Intamin Blitz that extends Katanga Canyon up onto Duel's site would be perfect.  Couple it with a more family friendly ride like Taron does with Raik at Phantasialand and they could bring some focus into an area of the park that's been unchanged for so long.   Duel takes up so much space and is f...

Re: Dark ride ideas

I’m still banging the drum for them to expand the Dark Forest into Cloud Cuckoo Land so they can remove Duel and use the space for another big coaster or else as the new entrance. That way the park can play into the Towers themselves and not rely on external brands so much. CatCF was to be expanded ...

Re: What do you think should replace CCL?

They should just dust off the plans for what was Jazz Land . Turn Charlie and the Chocolate factory into a shoot the chute ride, add in an indoor ride (coaster?) in the vacant land to the west. That helps with noise abatement, if nothing else. Jazz Land was a nice idea for that end of the park. Look...

Re: SW6 Ride & Construction discussion.

That Plywood is almost certainly not permanent, if it is, it will be the base layer to build up the externalwall. According to the building regulations set by the Government, sheet Ply is not adequate covering. I actually had a lecture about cladding and external walls today. If the plywood is perm...

Re: Restoration Architect

Does anybody know what firm Alton Towers have used for their restoration work? Answering my own question but I thought it might be good to put the answer up here for reference. Their architect is a firm call Nichols Brown Webber - mystery solved. Cheers, and thanks for moving my question here - did...

Restoration Architect

I was hoping I could tap into your collective knowledge of the park for a quick question. Does anybody know what firm Alton Towers have used for their restoration work? I think they did the hotels and some of the master-planning at her sister parks. I remember finding their website ages ago but the ...

Re: 2010: Secret Weapon 6

Sorry, I haven't read through the last 80 pages but has anyone thought that the big woodie could be back on the drawing board? Clearing land up in Ug Land gives space for the twisty part of the ride ( read less trees being cut down ) and Thorpe's meant to be looking for a flat to go along side the S...

The throughput on the robo-arm won't be fantastic. The concept artwork shows five rides, each with 2 pax, all coming off of central boarding area. Say the ride lasts a minute and we allow another minute for disembarking & boarding = 30 cycles per hour *5 rides *2 pax = 300pax/hr. As a guesstimat...

Well there was no copyright notice on the images, and so it was the goodness of our hearts. Awww, aren't we kind. :P You are indeed. Like it or not, it is public domain now. I've not been following the industry for four or five years now (Merlin? Tussauds, in my day!) but I guess screamscape will p...

And you did!

Out of interest, what did they threaten? Was it copy-written material or just the goodness of your heart?

The pictures of the dark forest are encouraging but as with the plans for the broomsticks ride, the balloon or the Toyland Tours replacement or even something about Doctor Who () - these things can fall through. Personally, I'd love to see both the Robo-arm and the rollercoaster and the level ...

I don't know what ride they could put in but there's an amazing marketing angle here: what lies beyond a back hole?

Excellent theming opportunities, it could still be an indoor coaster and maybe even a launched one: an Intamin Ball coaster perhaps.
