Exactly. As the report says, I think that in general the UK theme and amusement park industry is pretty slow (but steady) at the moment, due to a possible lack of consumer confidence caused by Britain leaving the EU (among other things, likely). I suspect that that may change in 2018, for a quite few parks, not just Alton, considering all the new additions at theme and amusement parks right across the country.

Alton Towers have updated their opening times for the May Half Term period. The theme park will now be open 10am-6pm between 26th May & 3rd June.

This is very much a welcome move by the resort. At peak times, ride close should be a minimum of 6pm, and with May Half Term and the school holiday period being 6pm as standard, there may be a small chance that, on the busiest of days, we see ride close pushed back to 6:30pm, or dare I say it 7pm?

I can see the updated ERT line-up on the website but, unless I’m being blind, I can’t see where it details the rest of the changes.

If true though, this is a massive step in the right direction. In truth, we should be seeing operations like this every day, and hopefully the park will use this ride opening schedule for the summer holiday period too.

That’s much more like it!

I’m not sure anyone really minds Duel, Rapids and Runaway Train opening later, as they never really draw a queue.

Hopefully this extends beyond May half term.

Excellent news. This is certainly a step in the right direction. I can't wait to visit next week and see the impact it has on the flow of guests. I'm expecting it to be dispursed and even throughout the day. :)

This is brilliant news, lets hope that this is more long term for the rest of the season as well as future seasons.

Also note that apparently the sky ride don't open until 12 noon

I can live with that. I rarely ever use the Skyride nowadays anyway, although I appreciate it is a necessity for some people.

Starting today, the brilliant Alton Towers Traffic Patrol are mobile again, with the return of their trusty T3 patrol vehicles.

The ATTP spent their morning entertaining guests on a bustling Towers Street, with them unleashing their mix of fun and mischief.

This weekend has also seen the introduction of a brand new show for CBeebies Land. Debuting in front of a packed audience, children's favourite Bing meets fellow guests in his own educational show; Bing Live.

With a more gentle and accessible tone, guests can enjoy their own picnic alongside Bing, Flop and Ali as they stop for lunch on their day out in the Park.

TowersStreet’s Facebook are reporting new signage for Congo River Rapids, no doubt due to the incident with TPW

The sign needed updating. It's good they have done that. I was half expecting them to be cheap and not bother.

Well that looks........cheap.

I appreciate that they’ve tried to do something with the concrete blocks, but that’s bad.

It may be one of those things that looks better in person, but I’m not holding my breath.

I do see what you mean, it does look very plastic-y. I like the fact they have at least tried to do something with the concrete blocks though. After all, and to quote Towers themselves, it's better than nothing! :P
