These have, as most people probably know, been lifed. Spinball was operating with fully loaded cars towards the end of the 2006 season.[/quote]

The towers website still lists the restrictions... chessington's has no mention of it!

The restrictions were never displayed on chessington's website. This is because the ride was closed from August and didn't reopen until 2 weeks before the end of the season. So I guess they didn't bother or never got round to displaying the information on their site. When i went in october they were enforcing the weight restriction very strictly.

Rameses Revenge must have more than one setting. Some "must" be used as safety sequences. Testers so to speak, ripsaw has 4 i believe?

Bigdave should know.

It's eight isn't it titwipe? some are too short to even warrant the use of 3 calories to turn the programme selection switch, and some are so long the cows have been and gone.....but, alas, who knows.......

Rameses Revenge

Wed Mar 06, 2013 9:43 am

Does anyone remember when you could go on Ramesis revenge and the ride op would manually control the ride? You could actually ask the ride op to make you wet with the fountains and they would do their best to soak you. Or ask for some other thing like to be held upside down at the top etc. I wonder if they still do this or if its set on a standard program nowadays?

Re: Ramesis Revenge program

I don't know what used to happen in the past, but these days it is a fixed program, and has been for a number of years.
It is a fixed alternating program, riders board and are put through a very tame cycle. After which everyone is asked if they would like to stay on for a more intense cycle, or leave, those that do want to leave are let off, then hose that remain are put through the second cycle.

I don't know any definites, but I think this is done for two reasons:
[1] - Because the ride was never designed to be used with water, and as such, it now has a drastically reduced lifespan. I believe standardizing the program has been done to make the most of it's remaining life span.
[2] - An added bonus to point 1, is that the first program will appeal to Chessies target audience of young adventurers, who have only just reached 1.4m, and might think they can cope with the first cycle, but maybe not the second. Plus with a lack of extreme thrills in the park, it's a bonus double ride for older adventurers without queuing.

Oh well that makes sense. Im talking around 17 years ago that they used to do this. Ramesis used to be almost a show in itself that people would cram around to watch at the top of the pit. I remember coughing up water on one ride.

The last time I rode this it was on of the hottest days in summer and it was a programmed cycle with the operator asking i we wanted more etc and then the whole park had a powers cut (does anyone remeber, august 2009 and people were trapped on the monorail above the lions...) we remained at about 40 degrees for about 5-10 mins and then they managed to release it and get us off! so I never actually experienced the full ride cycle. I did get complientary towers tickets and fastracks though!

I went on Rameses Revenge today.
Normally this ride is a bit of a highlight for me, being the only ride in the park that goes upside down, but I was disappointed; it honestly felt like Rammy was really struggling. Yeah I know she is old and definitely in need of a bit of love but the poor thing struggled to do the tame first cycle and the second cycle was painful and jerky and definitely not enjoyable

I don't know how much longer our beloved Topspin has left at cheesy, but it will be a sad time when she goes. RIP

Rameses Revenge is one of those rides I'd love to see replaced with a new replica with added effects :)

I understand the target market and blah blah blah; but the park does need to ensure it caters for few thrills, in order to keep teens entertained. I have seen many teen groups at Chessy, and more young teens are looking for thrills these days.

Rameses' Revenge Incident

Sun Jun 16, 2013 7:31 pm

http://news.sky.com/story/1104480/about ... ngton-ride

London firebrigade has just summited on their website that they are cutting restraints off the ride so people can climb down the ladder on the side of the ride it is stuck 20ft in the air.

What does everyone else think will the ride be removed now if so what do you think will replace it

About 40 People Stuck On Chessington Ride

Page last updated 19:28PM Sunday June 16, 2013

The Fire Brigade are working to rescue 40 people stuck on a ride at Chessington World Of Adventures in south west London.
The emergency services were called to the theme park shortly after 5 pm.

Those on the ride are stranded 20ft (6m) in the air.

Justin Coo of London Fire Brigade told Sky News that many of those trapped were "agitated and stressed".

He said children as young as eight were likely to have been on it but - as there was a minimum height requirement of 1.4 metres - there were not thought to be any aged younger.

Mr Coo said people were being freed, said he expected all people to be rescued within the hour.

More follows...

Was only there just the other day (thursday), so glad i managed to get on this ride when i did (as i love it compared to ripsaw), but always worried it will break down as it has happened to me on ripsaw for about 10/15 mins before... and well then this happens!

EDIT: I know none of us know the reason why it's happened but does anyone reckon ripsaw will be in operation tomorrow? and i've seen ripsaw stuck several times now and had to be manually bought back down due to a larger riders restraints not fully locking, even though safe, which casues the ride to emergency stop midway through (i'm guessing?), surely they have realised this because it seems to happen too often! but doubt this incident has anything to do with that...

It's not going to be fixed by tomorrow. It will need new restraints to start with as the current ones have been cut off.
