Not gonna happen for quite some time yet!

Yes, unfortunately. I predict sometime in the 2020s. We've had our big investment for this decade.

I look forward to a park refurb. Hotel isn't a priority for me, but the Mexicana re-theme is right up my street. It looks like it was a great success in the 90s, but is beginning to look deserted.

Just a question ... Is the scorpion express opening at the start of the season?

The extra £9m is clearly just the cost of the hotel extension or 'new' hotel as they're now pitching it.

Interesting all the same though.

I hope they spend some of it on a brand new, thrilling coaster! :D

I'm pretty sure it's all on park repairs, to stop things like the Tomb Blaster incident from happening again.

I very much like the sound of the refurbishment program and the extra money that has been put into the project. But I wondered if anyone had any ideas as to what the new AMAZU Treetop adventure will be. The park have said on their website that it is an adventure trail set in the heights of AMAZU but haven't said any more. Is there a possibility of this attraction being like a high ropes course set in the treetops with various objects to climb over or swing on. Just one idea for what this attraction might be like and if it's set up quite high then maybe ropes and harnesses might be needed. I'm very excited by the news of this refurbishment and extra funding for it. Looking forward to visiting next year.

I'm starting to get quite worried about Dragon Falls as they haven't reported anything on its re-theme, does anyone know whether it has been postponed for next year? Does anyone have any information, especially those that speak to park managers regularly *cough Jared cough* as it is really starting to bug me.

I too have wondered this, but I'm sure it will be no later than the hotel (summer) and hopefully before that!

I was under the impression that the refurb of Dragon Falls would be completed sometime this year (I think I recall some advertising at the park) but hopefully it'll be revealed :)

Going back on my original statement, Luce's comment has reminded me that I saw a sign in Mystic East last year that claimed all work would be finished by the end of the closed season 2014/2015. Which isn't good :(

I don't see why it should take that long

Nope, the sign said it would be complete for 2014.

I pray they just haven't announced it yet.

Chessington £14 million upgrade plan

Depends what they class as Winter 2014? I would assume it's this period of closed season right now but nothing has been said about it. I don't want to worry but I would hate for Dragon Falls to be like it was last year to stay for another season.

They could mean next winter as well. However I would've thought it should be this year it re-opens.

EDIT: on the Chessington updates page it lists everything that is due to open this season. There is no mention of Dragon Falls so I would assume it's not opening this year.

That's the sign I saw. I always viewed it as next winter (ie 2014/2015), but it could mean this winter as well

I can't believe that they could mean for 2015. What's the gain of not putting it up now? Hopefully they just haven't decided on the name or something resulting in not wanting to announce it? I pray this is the case.

Perhaps it's because the park want to sift through the ideas people have sent into them for how they'd like Dragon Falls to look?  However, it does seem a long time if it does reopen next year.

That is a possibility, however I have recived a letter from Chris McCormack (Senior Project Manager) saying that Merlin studios have decided to merge serious ideas into one. Which implie that they have already looked through them all.

As far as I'm aware, work has begun on it, but details are scarce. I'm awaiting more information at the moment.

Thank God! That message was like an angel sent from heaven. Maybe they just haven't announced it as it will still be called Dragon Falls and have a similar theme? Something that I hope doesn't happen, there can't be two rides with the initials DF in the same park, let alone both themed to dragons. Again, another crap thing that Land of the Dragons created.

Aww crap, really, towards the end of last year the dragon highly resembled dog poo.
That is the first negative thing I've ever said about Chessington  I'm gonna curl up in a ball now...
