Went on X on Sunday and thought going forward really detracted from the ride. The brake sections are terrible and just make the ride worse due to randomly sitting there for no apparent reason.

Went Sunday also, I must say that even though this is in no way brilliant, however it IS a 100% improvement on how it has been, they have not so much polished the turd, more rolled it around in some glitter. (The old signage in the station needs replacing for a start)
it has been struggling along the past 5-6 years..it had no direction (except backwards I suppose).
I think the changes improve the ride no end, sure they could have reprogrammed the block sections (and they could considering only 2 train operation for now)
Smoke and light effects are brilliant, and the fact you can now see where you are going shows how compact it is in there in some places.

I hope that this is still a work in progress and we see changes made around the station, and those Robots are given light sticks, white gloves, a High Vis jacket and whistles.... well if they had arms...

All in all X:\NWO - was 3 out of 10 , now its X -  I'd now say it was a 6, Just for the light show!

Neither can I! I'm so glad they've got rid of the brakes. Might be a capacity killer but who cares?!  :D

Hopefully the removal of the block brakes will improve the ride. I will re-ride at some point with my nieces and I do hope there are more improvements. We all know this is never going to be a great ride, but I believe with limited budget, Thorpe have done an average job on it.

I hated it with a passion. The music didn't start til we were half way around the ride (in fact over half way) and the stop starting totally ruined any possible enjoyment of the ride.

I won't be going back to ride it in a hurry, rather use the time to queue for a ride I actually enjoy.

The new theming is better than the original theming, well anything was. X is now the party/rave coaster for TT :3

^ Well there would be a difference, considering there are lights in the pyramid now so it's not fully "dark".

However on video a difference in speed is not visible.

I heard someone say (though it could be outdated by now) they had stopped with the lights and reverted back to black (No Way) out. I actually think the lights is a great idea but when I first suggested they use strobes and stuff I meant there should definitely be black outs still in the ride!!

Rode this yesterday, makes far more sense for this to be forward facing, to cater for the small family market with young ones

Just think the pyramid could be used for something much better!

Just ridden X this weekend; a great improvement although there needs to be more fog!! The block sections have been removed asides the final one but hey, you can't have everything.

X:\ Let's find out...

Sat Jun 01, 2013 10:37 pm

With the new refurbishment of X, I stopped and thought about the history of the ride. I'd love to have rode during the opening year when X was in it's full glory; with a story, effects and a more enjoyable ride experience.
I was wondering whether anyone had any photos or videos of X during 1996/7 when it first opened as it would be really interesting to see how much the ride has changed.
:D

Well the ride itself has stayed pretty much the same. The queue-line has been rejigged so many times though... Loosing many cool bits of theming. :( I missed those robots in the queue.
