Almost certain they won't move it.  That rumour just sounds like a complete load of rubbish in my eyes.  Where could they feasibly move it to and what would they do with the space left behind?

From what I've heard, there's a chance the ride could reopen this season, but Thorpe have said that it won't open till next season to remain conservative.  I'm not holding my breath for anything, but hey, you never know.

Why have they taken it apart? Sorry if this is a stupid question...

I dunno the exact reason, but pretty much - it's broke! :P

I guess they're taking it apart to find the fault / take it off site.  A lot of the floor panelling has been taken off as well it might be worth noting.

im hardly suprised. it takes 5mins + to load it and to ride it and to get off of it it takes 15 mins + so if you are say 30 people from the front of the queue, you gotta wait half an hour. which is long. it would be nice if they got a quicker way to load it and to get it going.

Just a general question, is there any reason they chose to make it park in a set position? I've been on multiple fairground models and they all stop in random places (I know this for a fact as I left my shoes on the platform!)

It's so they can say go to number 1/6 as they have numbers below the arms (Not that people care!)

Samurai

Ok, so i'm off to Thorpe in about a week, and I just want to know.

Is Samurai really as bad at it looks??
Because it looks sickening, hideous and I really don't want to throw up.

Topscans are by far and away my favourite mass-produced flat ride model in existence, and Samurai happens to be the worst I've ever ridden.

It's cycle is mediocre at best in intensity and is painfully short - certainly not worth it unless the ride is completely walk-on. Although, this may be perceived as a positive aspect for you if you feel a longer ride is liable to make you feel ill. :)

Samurai is the only Topscan I've ridden and it is a good laugh! I thought I would feel sick but it doesn't feel like you're spinning at all! Try it out and have fun! :)

Samurai's pretty good. With regards to the cycle length, it depends on what the queue is like; if it's busy, expect a short ride. I went on it twice yesterday and the second time was easily twice as long.

Samurai used to be amazing at Chessington, something in the move to Thorpe screwed it up though and its ride cycle is now 'yawnable' at best. Its not sickly unless you've just eaten but also not worth it unless it has a short queue... ride all the big Thorpe rides first then come to it if you have time. That's what I'd do.

I rode a Mondial Top Scan at Fantasy Island and it was... fierce. It was certainly a lot rougher than Samurai. A couple of times I got to the bottom inverted and was then launched upwards feet first.

The Beast at Fantasy Island is very intense compared to Samurai and shows just how broken Samurai really is. I really hope that Thorpe can find a fix for the problems Samurai as at the moment, it is a bad example of an amazing type of ride :)

It's unlikely that it'll return to operation this season. If ever.

I say replace it with a go gator, would fit on the space, and probably be more intense :lol if the same model at what is considered quite a bad park, known for closing rides in "wind" and takes their time to sort them can operate a top scan better than you, in terms of cycle and operation, then that says something, and isn't he beast around the same age? Top scans do tend to have lots of downtime, every time I've seen one it's been closed and re opened with 3-4 hours left but for one to be down as long as samurai, I haven't seen that before. If it doesn't open for fright nights I think it might go.
