Nemesis Inferno

Sun Jul 27, 2008 6:43 pm

I took a 250 mile trip down to Thorpe Park for this first sime on friday and dyou know what?

I reckoned Inferno to be better than Nemesis.
I felft ashamed to even think it.
But I just loved how smoth and moch more forceful it was.

Steve I was on park friday as well! Inferno is a very good roller-coaster, great theme and ride although I still think there is room for improvement. I would like a tunnel over the break run with lava like lighting and sound effects inside but I can only hope. It would also be nice to cover up the exit with a tunnel as at the moment all you see it maintenance cars and a tin shed, it really ruins the theme. What's worse is that it would be so cheap to do yet they didn't include it in the plans!

What really does it for me with Inferno is the drop out of the station and into the mist filled tunnel, it's just so fun... why don't they do that with coasters more often?

Inferno is by far the worse B&M I've ever been on. I wouldn't mind if it left - although Thorpe Park don't have much that can beat it either.

Its first drop and loop are spectacular, but the ride just dulls down at the end... the interlocked corkscrews are okay, but meh... theres nothing to it, no leg choppers nothing.

Nemmy's better!

I think Inferno is a good ride and a worthy of its place in thorpe park. It just pales into mediochrity when compared to its namesake. THORPE PARK set themselves up for failure when they named their new coaster in such a way as to invite comparison with a coaster which has consistently remained the number one in the UK and retained a respectable position in the world rankings since its construction.

Some will know that I often rated Inferno above Nemesis.

But to be honest last time I went on it, it did feel a bit meh.

So I'll just say it equals now. I think Nemesis is far too hyped up as it is *cough*B&M interview*cough* ;)

God saying Inferno is better than the original is a sin on these forums! Hehe, i remember texting dan to tell him how inferno was struggling with one train and i shortened it to Nemesis and he was not pleased!

Urm, i actually had a conversation with thorpe staff last time i was there in February (currently refusing to go :P) and they thought N:I was better than Nemmy but after actually talking about the theming and the ride intensity managed to swing to over to the Nemmy side, but i must say N:I can sometimes beat Nemesis for me and then i go and re-ride Nemmy and i think, how could i have ever thought N:I could beat Nemmy?

But its down to personal opinion...

I really like both - i think they're different and I get no idea why people still compare the two, when they are only linked by type and name, it's just liek comparing Stealth and RITA, or Tomb and Duel, surely just becuase they are the same type of ride, they aren't comparable? I enjoy Inferno for the views and it's a mildly intense ride, and I enjoy Nemesis for the theme and the intensity.

I must say that I did enjoy N:I but as has been said, it is a completely different ride experience for me. It feels much tamer and calm where I always see the original and a leashed beast, a certain wildness to the ride. Maybe that's the theming just getting to me? Anyhow, both enjoyable coasters but it must be said that the 1994 incarnation is undoubtedly the superior.

Inferno will always be second-rated to Nemesis. Yeah sure Inferno has a great opening and great theming, it just doesn't beat the original thrill B&M.

I don't think its fair to say that its the worsed B&M. I wouldn't say its the best but they are a lot worse out there.

Anyway, Inferno does have some qualities which the origanal doesn't have. For an example the drop at the start and into the tunnel. The layout is impressive (there just somthing about it that "wows!" me) I found it to be smother. Last time I went on Nemesis, It gave me a bit of a headache.

Nemesis on the other hand, does have the better theming and Atmophere. Nemmy also has some unique feathers. Like the fact its build in a massive hole in the ground. Nemmy is a little overated in my view (You gonna hate me for that  ) Never the lese its still a great ride.

Its a hard one for me, their both great coaster.

I have got to say, after going on nemesis, me in front left seat, two empty middle seats, then my mate on the right flank. That was the best ride i ever had on nemesis.

Compared to the same expirience on NI (with same seating arrangments) i can say with a great degree of confidence that, Nemesis is the better ride even excluding theming.

I think i rated it (in my own little system)

Nemesis:

Theming: 8.5/10
Ride expirience: 9/10 Total: 26.5/30
Atonsphere: 9/10

Nemisis Inferno:

Theming: 7.5/10
Ride expirience: 7/10 Total: 20.5/30
Atnosphere: 6/10

I'm sorry if i have upset any thorpe fans but this is my opinion.

No one can deny how impressive nemesis's feathers are

Pfft

Nemesis is everything Inferno isn't!

Inferno Bashes**

It's looks awfull & the theming is hit and miss.
It's unimaginative in that it is a generic B&M clone of sorts.
Music isn't as good.
No story, just a faux mountain with a rubbish station.
The exit was an after thought and still is, it's a mess and you can see the test dummies who have actually thrown themselves off the balcony to avoid riding it again.
It's run on low capacity at busy periods sometimes and poorly.
Suffers from Thorpe Park coaster flu and "cannot run bellow a certain temperature."
Re-riding it causes your blood cells to burst.
It's maintained by people who have only fixed hair for a living.
The marketing team need shooting, in comparing the Inferno to Nemesis you inadvertently place it in the firing line for people to compare and it fails to deliver the same punch Nemesis does. It just goes to show how unimaginative Thorpe really are "I know lets call it Nemesis Inferno, stick it in a mountain, buy an off the shelf design & make out it's just as good as Altons" *loads shot gun*

**The views expressed are not from a Nemesis fanboys point of view lol

I agree that Inferno's not as good as Nemesis but I don't think it can be called a bad ride. I always enjoy both coasters whenever I'm at Alton or Thorpe and both are worth re-rides! :D

Inferno isnt an off the shelf design is it? cuz theres no others... i thought it was custom, but just a really crap custom design!

The classic B&M invert design is the Batman one.

My main issue with Inferno is the insistance of using "Nemesis" in its name. It's not Nemesis, never is Nemesis, and the only connection is that it is a B&M Inverter. I can see why they did it, because Nemesis is a famous coaster, and Thorpe wanted to cash in on this. But there is no connection between the themes, and since it is not the same layout or aything, it is NOT the same coaster.

The coaster itself is OK. One of the better rides on park, although I find the first drop into the loop a bit uninspiring, and far to typical for a B&M. surely they could have a different element following the drop, like Nemesis does, and then save the loop later to keep the momentum - as that is where Nemesis fails, the momentu is not maintained. The interlocking corkscrew is nice to look at, but does nothing to the ride experience

Meh, I have to disagree with you guys somewhat. I think N:I is themed rather well compared to so many B&M Inverts out there, if you think about it, that mountain is rather substantial and looks like they chucked quite a bit of money into it. The pre-drop with mist is unique in the UK and not exactly common anywhere in the world

The ride itself is above average, I found the Zero-G straight after the loop to be one of the most forceful elements I have ever ridden which is strange because I have never seen it mentioned in any great detail. I remember that element causing me to red it for a few seconds when in the rain on the back row. In terms of intensity, that brief moment is comparable to Nemmy's downward helix.

Comparing it to Nemesis is really rather unfair. Yes, the music is not as good but the Nemesis theme tune is one of the best ride theme tune's ever composed. That's like saying to a classical music composer "Rubbish. Just not as good as Beethoven's Ode to Joy". How much does a ride really need a story? Can anyone detail the story of Rita, Oblivion, Air, Stealth and Colossus for me? As long as a ride is well themed, a good story is just icing on the cake...

Personally I prefer Nemesis to Nympherno ... however that's not saying that Inferno is a bad coaster, infact many aspects of it I actually prefer, however I just think that it should never have had the Nemesis tag before it ... regardless of whether or not it's better .... people will always compare the two which isn't particularly fair ....

...by simply calling it Inferno it would have detatched itself from the Nemesis brand I think people would have gone with the opinion that it's a great coaster (which it is) rather than coming out saying "Wow thats loads better than Nemesis" or "Nemesis is loads better" and seeing that they both belong to the same company I really dont see the need to cause that kind of conflict of opinions as before even riding it you have preconceptions to what either ride will be like if you've ridden it's sibbling at the other park before hand ... the beauty of Nemesis in it's original incarnation was that it was a surprise they had no idea what it was going to be like and although the majority of us on here would know that it was a B&M invert and predict what it would be like ... many of the public would be clueless .... but by adding Nemesis before the Name Inferno it gives some of the game away .... a bit of a shame if you ask me.

My reasoning that Nemesis is better is more down to the theming than anything else (and although I do quite like the Inferno theming ... I think I prefer the way its predecessor interacts with the land more)
