Thorpe Park Merchandise

Wed Mar 19, 2014 12:41 am

Hi guys,

I'm a regular at Alton Towers only living 15 mins away, however I've only been to Thorpe Park once and I'm heading out again in April for the first time in 6 years. As I've got older, I've began to really build up my collection of theme park merchandise and memorabilia. I've mainly been collecting pin badges from theme parks, most of my collection is from Alton dating back to the early 90's. However I don't own any from Thorpe and I was just wondering if the park do pin badges for their rides? If so which ones? I've looked on eBay for any oldish ones but couldn't find any. Will I be able to find these in a specific ride shop or just the general main store? Really excited to be heading back after so long! Looking forward to Saw and Swarm!

Thanks, Kev :D

Thorpe Park don't usually do pin badges.

On-ride photos and videos are a big thing at Thorpe, but for shop merchandise shirts and mugs with the ride on is the sort of direction we're looking at.

Me and my other half also collect pin badges and we were very disappointed with the lack of pin badges in thorpe. the only one they do is swarm. i believe they have made one for angry birds land but it isn't on sale yet. probably will be on sale in may when angry birds land opens. :)

I ended up buying those two t-shirts!
There are also loads of new "I <3 Thorpe Park" and "Island like no other" branded merchandise.

Here are a few photos of some merchandise I purchased from my trip today.

Here is the fantastic new The Swarm resin with detailing both on the front and back -

This cost £8 and £6.60 with a Annual Pass discount. Worth every penny.

I also purchased the 4 pin badges the resort are offering for 2016, you can collect badges from The Swarm, Stealth, Colossus and a generic resort logo badge.

Image

These are £2.50 and £2 with an Annual Pass discount. My main niggle with these is how small they are in comparison to the badges Alton Towers were offering in 2015. As well as the ride themed badges not having a plastic coating. Here is a comparison between the two -

Still not too bad for £2, and I hope that this line will be expanded in the coming years.

I'm so happy they're starting to do pin badges in places other than AT. It makes my lanyard happy, lol.

The pin badges are a great addition to the ride merchandise and I'm really hoping that we see further pins released later in the season so that they at least cover the big 5 coasters and Derren Brown's Ghost Train. Personally I think the latest pins are the perfect size - they fit nicely on a lanyard if you want to wear them, or can be displayed on a pin board as I plan to do with them. I always thought that last year's pins from Alton Towers were far too big and heavy (something I know alot of other people thought and fed back too), so it's noct to see Merlin have listened and adjusted the range accordingly :)
