New Book! - Smoke and Mirrors: The Haunted House of Alton Towers

Sun Sep 01, 2013 10:08 pm

A new book for Alton Towers fans is available and it has a foreword from John Wardley!...

Smoke and Mirrors: The Haunted House of Alton Towers
http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/1490417087

" When the UK theme park Alton Towers invested millions of pounds in their ground-breaking Haunted House, a new era of dark rides was born. The spectacular attraction amazed and spellbound theme park enthuisasts and dark ride fans for many years, with its breath-taking illusions and state-of-the-art technology. The original concept was retired in 2002 to make way for the interactive zombie blaster, Duel. However, the Haunted House left a lasting impression on some of those intrepid riders who braved the Poltergeist Room and were scared witless by the Grand Hallway's grinning demon. Michael P Eley was one of those riders. Through the pages of this book he will guide you back into the darkness, offering behind-the-scenes insights into the making of creator John Wardley's 'laff in the dark' attraction, as well as serving up a brief history of dark rides and haunted houses. I think that's cool including because of the foreword by John, but I really hoped for a preview of some pages to get a glimpse of your writing style and what is in the content.
You may infact be underselling yourself if you have behind the scenes info that doesn't already exist.

edit

I see you've got three 5 star reviews though!!

I've read it. A nice little book that tells you all sorts of things. I would recommend.

I think he's taken it down for the sake of selling the book - makes sense, and while its not desirable to pay for something that was once free I imagine theres a lot of extra stuff in the book and he has put a lot of effort into the site and probably book. Maybe he'll put the site back up after a while.

I loved the book but it didn't (and probably could never) contain as many photos as the website did.
