I won't do a detailed review as Dave has done that, but this is one stunning coaster. It looks beautiful and rides like a beast. The drop on the back row is one of the best drops I have ever experienced on a coaster, you really are flung over the top.

The two zero-g rolls actually give you a floating sensation, the only ones where I have ever actually experienced zero-g's. The drop down into the final zero-g gave me a good bit of airtime, not something I was expecting from a B&M invert.

This is one truly fantastic coaster and an example of B&M at their very best. Easily better than Mamba and I possibly prefer it to Nemmy.

Very intrigued now... Whilst every inverter ever built is endlessly compared to Nemesis, whenever one comes around and is potentially better, I take note. Very much looking forward to a go next month now.  :D

It sounds as good as Montu from the various reviews. That alone whets the appetite a lot.

Shame that, as I also found last year, something seems to have happened to Mamba. It no longer seems the intense beast that it used to be.

It looks great but it looks like it just dies on its arse at the end, like Black Mamba does.

It's one of the things I love about Nemesis: that it quits while it's ahead instead of adding a couple of boring helices to the end just to use up the spare momentum.

It is not as intense as Nemmy so if that is what you like in an Inverter you probably won't find this better. It's not all about intensity for me though which is why I possibly prefer Ozzy.

This doesn't die as much at the end as you may think. I found Mamba a bit leisurely at the end whereas this was far more enjoyable at the end. The upwards helix is quite intense!

You know, mamba used to be so intense on the final helixes. It used to feel like your legs were going to be ripped off!

Yeah this doesn't die in those final helix's, its not quite the finale of Nemesis but its far better than Mamba, however i don't think its a Nemmie beater as there are simply not enough foot-choppers which are to my mind essential for a Nemmie beating inverter.

Having ridden Mamba last week, obviously I have nothing to compare it to, but it was certainly forceful in the final helices, and the start of the ride was almost as intense as Nemesis!

Oz'Iris looks impeccable though!
If you go down to the Towers today, you\'d better ride Th13teen. :P

Odd i rode Mamba last Friday and it was almost boring on the last helix, maybe it hadn't warmed up?

Perhaps. Even last year, and Mamba was tamer then than back in 07-08, the final helixes were very intense on the legs!

I found the second half of mamba quite dull. Reminded me more of a wild Vampire than a beastly Nemesis

In any case, this coaster is far more comparable with mid/large scale inverts like Dragon Challenge and Montu than small models like Nemesis Inferno, Nemesis and Black Mamba.

I've just done a slightly bonkers Asterix-and-back-in-a-day trip and OzIris blew me away.  After careful consideration I'm happy to put it in as my personal number 1 - everything from the ride experience to the q-line to the themeing is brilliant.  There's a different aspect of the layout for front, middle and back - the zero-g roll at the back of the station is utterly perfect in the middle seats, absolutely beautiful floater.  As far as I'm concerned it's better than Nemesis, and that's a pretty hard thing for me to say.  Stunning ride.

Well that just raised the bar. I think it's fair to say that my expectations on this in August are at fever pitch!! I'll still be suprised if it's better than either Nemesis or Montu, though... but we shall see. "New" factor may play a part here. I remember riding Black Mamba when it was new and declaring it the best ever, but it's since dropped a fair bit.

Still... if this thing is that good it could well be a number one for me, too.

I'm very much conscious of the 'new' factor which is why we're already planning a return trip in 2012 to see how she stands up on a second visit.  My mate Pete's database only allows him to put up to a 9.5 in for a ride the first time he tries it to attempt to mitigate the 'ooh, new and shiny' factor.  Hope you have a good time in August!

I concur, the ride is awesome and is better than Nemesis for me.  Nemmie has been my number 1 ever since 1994, but OzIris is the complete package.

For a coaster thats only 114 ft tall it really doesnt let up.  G's are quite high which you can feel on the legs and are comparable to Nemesis.  What is different though is that OzIris performs the Zero G rolls superbly with a graceful flow compared to Nemmie which whips and throws you around it.

There are many unique elements in the ride which have never been seen on an Inverter, like the surprise straight section of track after the vertical loop and lovely directional changes towards the back end of the ride.

Theming wise, it puts everything we have in the UK to shame.  Nothing comes anywhere near it.

You will love it, without a shadow of a doubt....

I've been an enthusiast for about a decade now, and if I had a penny for every time someone has claimed the big new European ride is "better than Nemesis"... :P

I'm sure it's very good, but what usually happens is that when the dust settles in a few years, like with Black Mamba, people come to the conclusion that it is very good but isn't quite as good as Nemmy. We'll see! Looks amazing though! :)

Re: Parc Asterix 2012: "Oz'Iris" B&M Invert!

Ive been doing this hobby of mine for over 30 years now and this is the first time that a ride has blown me away enough for me to say its better than Nemesis.  The Batman clones for example are fantastic rides and if they were like Nemmie ie heavily themed in a hole with near misses, tunnels etc, would probably be better than Nemesis for me.

However, OzIris is near nigh on perfection.  If anything, it will only get better with age as some of the planting hasnt been finished yet and some areas look a little bare.  How this will look in a few years time will be even better.  My opinion of the ride is not just about the physical hardware, but about everything from the music, to the queueline entrance, to the placing of the queue, indoor section with the great themeing and then the station.  The Experience :)

The ride itself is of course the main course and remembering back to my first ride on Nemmies opening day back in 1994 I can still recall how it was back then and believe me now, Nemmie rides better now than in 94.  My first ride on OzIris was much better than my first on Nemmie.

This is not just "new ride syndrome", as if so I would have been blown away with Thirteen and The Swarm and some of the big new rides that I have ridden in the US, but I wasnt.  This is something else, this is a complete package from queueline entrance to ride exit which is something we dont get all that much in the UK

I have been doing his for so long that it takes something special to blow me away and OzIris is certainly one of these rides.

As a side point I went to Thorpe Park yesterday to see how Inferno and Swarm compare and they are even more blah blah now than before I rode OzIris. The key point for me is when I ride Nemesis on Saturday (If we go), that will be the decider for me, having the opportunity to ride them so close together.
