The certainly looks better than before! I bet Alton managed to squeeze a refurb deal of the ride out of sega too and looks like that has happened! Just lets hope the upkeep stays in tip top form!

Yeah, it isn't the most overwhelming re-theme ever, but an improvement nevertheless.

Would like to have seen some full size statues of other characters around and within the ride area, and the music was very quiet aswell.

Nice to hear the good old sound effect when Sonic collects a ring though, but more could have been done.

So basically what we have had here is a very good re-furb. There is no denying the coaster does look better now its been painted and its good to hear it is running well.

At the end of the day at least Spinball's had a good paint, and I think therefore it's two thumbs up for next years "Legend of Zelda: A dive to Oblivion".

Wii, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360? Wow... is all of that entertainment really necessary when you have a theme park, a water park and crazy golf right in one place?!

I went to the park today and was pleased with Sonic - but that is because I wasn't expecting loads of new theming resulting in a completely new ride.

Without the Sonic tie in I doubt that Spinball would've had much done to it over the closed season but as it is it is looking fresh and new again - and that can't be a bad thing.

So have we got a new exciting ride? No, but we do have one of the existing rides looking a lot brighter and better, and it won't have cost Alton Towers much - in fact I am sure they have a few more coins in the coffer due to the deal.

Is there 1 car where the car casing is now painted blue? As on all of the marketing material for it, the car is blue. Sorry if this has been pointed out :)

Well, looking at all of the pictures of the ride and the hotel room. Alton have done a pretty good job. The hotel room is good, really like it!

As for Spinball, Alton could have easily left it to peel away and rust in the corner with those awful voice-overs etc. But no, Alton have made an effort, and I think it's a pretty big one for a ride that will only last 3 seasons. Seeing as Spinball came in 2004 and really only started showing it's age in 2007/8 it shows Alton do care. It's a minimal change but what did we expect with Th13teen around the corner? It got some TLC and it looks a damn sight better than it did. The colours of the supports are so much better than that greeny crap and it looks more appropriate. Well done Towers. :)

BUT Alton, still upset that Cream is no where to be seen. ;) :P

The promotional shots show the inside of the car, which around the seats is blue, which it always has been. No blue car sorry. :D

Im surprised they repainted spinball with rollers, would it not be easier to use static spray painting? I seem to remember this from GCSE, thats how they paint huge steel structures quickly. They just need to mask off the top of the supports...

Anyone else know about this?

They might of missed a bit less with a spray :P In fairness though I think spray is only really viable in the factory? If the wind picked up there would be blue paint EVERYWHERE... ! I saw loads of turqouise anyway, but then I think I was being over picky and looking for it! Although there is a support with a completely different shade of blue on it and it stands out like a sore thumb.

Looking very fresh. This is exactly the sort of treatment all the Coasters deserve from time to time.

It merely serves to exaggerate the laziness in leaving Oblivion and X-Sector in the state it's in though. Black paint and concrete washdown plz! (Though, perhaps their refusal to do anything there means something is planned for X-Sector in the near future?)
