In the 11 years since Nemesis has been built, I dont think anything in a UK park has ever bettered this. The ride starts from before you entre the queue, with the extremely atmospheric and barren Forbidden Valley, hearing he sound of Doctor Who's Tom Baker retelling the legend of Nemesis, that any enthusiast knows off by heart.

Nothing can prepare you for your first ride on Nemesis. The first time you sit down, your heart jumps with anticipation as the floor lowers below your feet, and you are sent out of the station to the lift hill, legs getting used to the free mobility and swinging away. But that soon stops as you are led into the first drop, and taken through the breathtaking corkscrew. The pace never stops throughout the ride, to give a truly intense experience, surely something that every roller coaster fan should experience, enthusiast or not.

10/10 for me, have yet to ride something so intense, packed full of adrenaline, and exciting!

Beaver Dude's Nemesis Review
Post Posted: Tue 20th Sep 2005 20:02
One of the most commonly heard quotes on any Alton Towers forum is "OMFG Nemesis iz da best." Of course I've also heard "OMFG Nemesis sucks its overrated TBH." So which group do I think is correct? Well whether you like it or not you're about to find out.

Before I look at the ride itself I need to look at its mysterious history. OK so maybe it's not anywhere near as cool as a terrifying monster being unearthed, but it's still a lot more interesting than the history of most rides.

Tussauds being a sane theme park operator decided that Alton Towers needed a new ride. This ride would be Tussauds biggest investment in a ride since acquiring the park in 1991. Unfortunately it seems Tussauds weren't as sane as I first thought as the decided to pick Arrow Dynamics to manufacture the ride. The ride they wanted from them was the pipeline coaster, which I highly doubt would’ve been comfortable. Fortunately for enthusiasts and Alton Towers but not so fortunate for Arrow, there financial stability and the fact the ride type was having problems meant AT cancelled the ride. But it left a lasting legacy as due to its planned theme of a secrete base AT have used Secret Weapon as a project name for all the major coasters since.

It seemed AT wouldn’t give up on this ride and the deal was soon back on but then something was about to emerge that would change all that. No not a subterranean monster. Batman in rollercoaster form, its no surprise that legendary designer John Wardley went for this instead of the Arrow pipeline, as it’s quite simply amazing. So by now you’d expect enthusiasts to have their hand down their pants in delight well no not really. As you see due to the lack of internet (and forum) access AT didn’t find it hard to keep the ride quite secret during construction. Couple this with the MOD tents put around the ride and the trucks driving through the local villages (surprisingly the Ropers didn’t file a law suit) then it must’ve seemed like a monster was emerging in AT. Perhaps it really was…

When the ride opened in 1994 people must’ve been in awe. The ride was only the 2nd of its kind and only had the Big One and Shockwave to compete with but that’s a different story. It’s also likely that billions of sperm died because of enthusiasts but again that’s a different story. The ride got great reviews and the RcoGB reported record enrolment.

It continued like this for a number of years until one day Mr. Big head of cleaning up Alton Towers including Nemesis (or something like that) said “I can’t be bothered” and the cleaners stopped cleaning Nemesis and the rest of AT. After a few years the monster was no longer the scariest thing at AT it was the amount of litter around the ride. The amount of gum in the queue made you wonder if the ride was sponsored by Hubba Bubba. There are also only a certain number of times you can read “a stupid chav woz ere” and find it funny i.e. zero. Many of the enthusiasts (who had their hand out of their pants by now) wondered why a mighty beast capable of hurling a 50 ton bus 100ft into the air, couldn’t even clean itself properly.

Finally in 2004 a nice man called Russell Barnes changed things. He became Mr. Big manager of AT including Nemesis. He fired Mr. Big head of cleaning up Alton Towers including Nemesis and quite a few other idle managers. Then in 2005 one year after Nemesis’ tenth birthday the ride was tidied up. The rivers of blood (red died water in real life) were sorted out and the station was given a repaint. A single rider queue was also added meaning enthusiasts everywhere had a new reason to put their hands down their pants.

So the ride has had its spruce up and although it’s a shame you can’t walk around the ride anymore due to fastrack it’s looking grrrreat.

Anyway I’ve already managed to write half a page and I haven’t even got onto the ride how shocking. So I’m now going to give you a sucktacular/average/brilliant (delete as appropriate) blow-by-blow account of the ride.

As you enter the Forbidden Valley (if you too weird to notice the rides 1st) you notice the amazing theming. At the end of this land stands Air which is a great ride I mean you actually feel like you’re flying…Oh yeah I’m reviewing Nemesis oops lol. Anyway if you turn to the left or perhaps the right you’ll eventually (if you aren’t stupid enough to get lost) find the entrance. The entrance consists of lots of random rusty stuff and looks great. If you are brave enough then enter at your peril…

So you enter under this grand structure if you weren’t too scared and have unwittingly walked in Nemesis’s domain. The ride roars and I mean roars over your head. When the ride isn’t running you can hear Graham Stuarts musical masterpiece playing around the queue. This bit of music perfectly tells the story of Nemesis without the need for words conveying its evil and its tragedy. The queue takes you round the pit (it’s more of a crater really) giving you some brilliant views. If the music doesn’t get your heart pounding then the huge trains full of screaming rides will.
Hopefully you wont have to queue for to long (if you do you have my full sympathy) and sooner rather than later you’ll be inside the station (how exiting.) You may if you look around notice that the station is way better outside than in. But ever few minutes your attention will be drawn away from the lack of theming as the floor drops and the train advances out of the station. Every so often a petrifying voice (I thought Nemesis couldn’t communicate) says things such as; “Nemesis: Are you ready for the ultimate challenge?” If your answer is no then don’t board just go to the exit if yes then get ready as your next.

You board the amazingly comfortable trains and feel a moment of comfort before you remember where you are. The floor falls from beneath you feet and you quickly advance out of the station round a 90° bend and onto the deafening lift. Clank, clank, clank, clank your confidence (and you ear drums are eroded more and more each second.) After what seems like an age you reach the top of the lift and get a wild jerk of the lift into the 1st drop. This isn’t the only part of the ride that can be described as wild. This drop isn’t very scary but gives a great feeling of acceleration and foot chopper on the trees. Coming out of the 1st drop you enter a wingover, which is an odd way to start but is still amazing. You then shoot round an extreme 4g downward helix, which causes you to black out. Before pulling up into an inline twist over the station without even slowing down (brace yourself.) Dropping out of this you pull up again into a stall turn (a slight dead spot.) Now prepare for a life changing experience the vertical loop. This loop gives a great mix between hang time and pulverising +g’s. Brilliant. Coming out of this wonderful inversion you hit another dead spot in the form of an open curve. The final inversion makes up for this though. You suddenly pick up speed and whiz round another buried wingover. You rocket past a rusty bus into a bend that is average before you smoothly but quickly stop. Nemesis has finished its onslaught.

You arrive back at the station and can now reflect on this experience. First things first the music and the theme are brilliant. I think that this is one of the best themed coasters one the planet. Secondly the ride has 2 dead spots but the good parts more than make up for this. Occasionally you may bang your head. This is due to the speed at which the elements are taken. After riding X at SFMM, Duelling Dragons and Rita (which is apparently the no.1 ride at AT) I can honestly say Nemesis tops them all making it the worlds no.1 in my view. So basically it’s “OMFG Nemesis iz da best” not “OMFG Nemesis sucks its overrated TBH.” Well done to John Wardley and everyone else involved for such a brilliant, brilliant ride. To finish I’d like to say a couple of words (meaning sentences) from the legend of Nemesis: It is awesome. There is no comparison. This is the Legend. But don't try to understand - don't try to come to terms with it. Don't even try to think about it.

Nemesis, at Alton Towers. Sit back: It's fright time.

Moved from separate topic leftover from "Competition" by Satch... And please dont make posts that just congratulate someone elses review, thanks

Nemmie - The One you just have to love! By Bantamboy
Post Posted: Tue 20th Sep 2005 20:14
Nemesis - The one you just have to love!

As you pass by Duel and walk down towards Forbidden Valley, THAT eerie
Music is playing, and even before you can set your eyes on it, you know
that Forbidden Valley is awaiting you just around the corner.
As you finally go by the arcade, there it is.
Forbidden Valley, full of its marvels!

When the summer sun is shining away, you can really see the fury of this place, over in the
background, you can see the oasis blue of air, a far cry from the rest
of the area, you can see where the area of air contrasts with the rest
of Forbidden Valley, the slightly dull surface suddenly replaced by this pretty fiery
terrain that Forbidden Valley proper has about it. The theming is captivating, they
have a pirate ship, oops I mean a 'blade' and even that can look
terrifying for gods sake!
Then there’s ripsaw, and that brings the term 'hell raiser' up a notch
or two, but at the end of the day, not even that ferocious piece of
shrapnel can pale in comparisons to the king of this zone. Not even a
ride that’s 8 years younger, with so much more technology was able to
top it!

1994 was the best year ever in the world of theming and roller coasters,
this masterpiece by John Wardley is one that manages to gain worldwide
recognition, even in America where Alton Towers is a name that is
recognised nowhere near as say, six flags is in the UK, Nemesis was
immensely known, when it opened, there was even a liquorice coca-cola
(The real thing Sorry for the pun :P) made for nemmie!
With all this immense build up, that beast in the corner of Forbidden
Valley better damn be good, and its not, ITS AMAZING.

Even before you've ridden it, you know its something special, the blood
falls trickling all around you, the red alien and its legs, which are
made out to look like leftover metal for the coaster. Nemmie isn’t just
about the alien though, the rustic theming never fails to come, even
the track itself is made to look dated and worn out!
The thing about nemesis is that it doesn’t just have visual effects, at
the vertical loop section of the queue line, I suggest that you stand
there till the next train pops around, and then you will have a taster
of the ride, and for those of you with long hair, you'll also have a
taster of the hair in your mouth! That blast of air is a good sign of
things to come, but please remember, it’s only a blast of air.

Christ, the final corner of the queue line, so far your actual ride time
has been 0 seconds, but you've already had the music, the visuals, the
alternatives, and you may even be embarrassed that you considered blade to be an intense ride! Under the roof of the station now, you find
yourself there knowing that there are 32 hardy souls ahead of you
awaiting their turn, and then your in there.

The station is appearing rusted beyond belief, even the lights are made
to look dated and worn, this is the time where you think, do I really
want to do this? This is the time where your spine shivers, this is the
time where you know that you ARE going to face your nemesis.

The white beast that is the train comes into the station, you go down
to strap in, and you await your ride, if you think the theming is
fantastic, mate you have not seen a thing yet. You roll out of the
station, the clicking on the lift hill starts, CLICK-CLICK-CLICK, it
goes on endlessly, and those clicks seem eternal, you don’t know when
its all going to end, then all of a sudden, your on the top of the
hill, and aawwwaaaayyyyy weee gooooo.

Into the barrel roll, Bang your through, feel those forces already? 4
Gs have already begun, and its not letting up, this is unusual, most
coasters have that intense bit then it lets up, not nemmie, oh no, of
course not. You then hit a helix, going downwards, as you fly around it,
you can’t help but feel the presence of those rocks and fences, you may
have even fooled yourself you were going to hit them! Before you know
it, your into a zero g roll, for those 3 or 4 seconds, you are
weightless, the only way you know your actually there is through the
sheer force being exacted onto your body and your eyesight, even though
maybe that’s starting to blur ever so slightly too ;). Around this 180
degree turn over the waterfall, you see the red blood falls hitting the
ground, well you should see it, perhaps you’re a little bit distracted by
a little matter of the vertical loop? The 4 g's really are coming home now, you feel the blood rushing around you as you fly up, and back down, your probably asking yourself, "christ! Did that just happen?"

All I can say is, yep, it certainly did. You dip under the queue line,
and that’s where the ride begins to wear off, but not before one last
inversion! One final corkscrew that still exerts a massive force
finishes the job. You begin to cruise as you enter the break run, and
that’s it! Nemmie is done with, the ride of your live is finished in
about a minute, the memories of it will never end.

10/10

Nemesis has become one of Alton Towers signature rides, its construction in 1994 hailed in a new era for the park, and for coasters in the UK. It was up against some stiff competition, that same year Blackpool revealed the Pepsi Max big one, and Drayton Manor unveiled Shockwave. Yet, of the great coasters opened that year, Nemesis would become recognised as the greatest, and even today still ranks in many enthusiasts top 10 roller coasters.

Here's why

Nemesis is an inverted roller coaster, meaning that the train is suspended beneath the track, leaving the feet or the rider dangling and giving much more of an exposed feeling than other kinds of rides. At the time, the inverted roller coaster was revolutionary, Nemesis was only the 2ND of its kind in the world. But Nemesis is very different to its predecessor Batman in America.

What made Nemesis so different was that it was built in a way that no other coaster had been built before. Due to height restrictions imposed on the park, Nemesis couldn't go above tree height. The solution? Bury it. Several man made pits and trenches were dug to house the roller coaster. Because of this, Nemesis is, for the most part, only a few meters away from the ground and the walls of the trecnhes. Combined with the exposed feeling of an inverted coaster, it provides quite an incredible feeling of speed, and that your about to loose your feet. This experience is best at the front of the ride (which is seriously recommended) with near misses and sharp turns away from rocks and ledges making for a truly thrilling ride.

The ride features 4 inversions, the first is a corkscrew inversion, just after the first drop, the train then whips down a banked right hand corner through a trench, then comes up and does a barrel roll over the station (this is great on the front row as you head straight for the station and turn away at the last moment). next the train does a stall turn (A tight banked turn which slows the train down, then accelerates it downhill again) and drops down to the lowest part of the ride. At that point it does a vertical loop. After the loop the train sweeps under the queue and back round the station on a large flying banked curve. Next it goes through a short tunnel then into a second corkscrew, this inversion is unsighted and catches alot of people out by surprise. the train goes through another tunnel then does one last stall turn into the brake run.

The whole experience lasts 1 minute and 20 seconds, its a bit short but there's never a dull moment. And it WILL leave you with a huge smile on your face.

But what makes Nemesis truly great is the atmosphere of the ride. As you approach Nemesis through the woods, you wont see it, but you'll hear it, the roar of this coaster as it hurtles through the valley can be heard from some way off. Next you'll hear the eerie music, which really sets the tone for what your about to see. As you turn the corner and walk down the hill, you can see the beast itself. Nemesis has some of the most detailed theming on any roller coaster in the world. It all surrounds a myth dreamed up by Alton Towers advertising team.

According to the legend, in 1993 routine maintenance work in a remote area of the park, disturbed a strange alien beast, the nemesis itself, which had been sleeping underground. The beast was awoken and angered, it started lashing out and tearing up the earth (the trenches and pits in which the ride is built). It was decided that Nemesis should be pinned down by concrete and steel.

And so we were left with what we see now. The track is the monsters tentacles, and the supports are the steel used to lash it down. The rides station is themed as the monster and the coaster starts through the mouth of Nemesis.

The station is the centerpiece to many items of theeming, including rivers of blood, and smashed up buses, all designed to give the feeling of a derelict war-zone and an ongoing struggle against Nemesis.

But storys aside, the theming adds so much to the atmosphere and the tension of the ride, the proximity of the ride to the terrain, and the brilliant design of the coaster itself adds together to create one of the best coaster experiences on the planet.

intensity : 8/10
thrill 9/10
re-ride rating 10/10
theming 9/10
lentgh 6/10

overall: 94%

Nemesis - Sit Back... Its Fright Time! By PrepareForAir

My Nemesis review - By Tom Machin.

You walk into the queue thinking whether or not this is the right idea, it all seems so loud and freaky, whilst your standing there with the blood splashing all around you, there is a very loud roar as a train rushes under you doing a vertical loop. You eventually get to the station and end up sitting at the front row, all the atmosphere, the music and the screams make it seem so scary, your strapped in and as the ride op gives the thumbs up, the car goes around the first corner and clicks onto the loud noisy lift hill.

As you go up the rough hill hearing this clank, clank, clank you are saying to yourself "Why am I here? What am I doing?" Eventually you get to the point of no return. As you go down a small dip and around a very fast corner you quickly see a flash of all the cars mounted up in the car park. You rush through trees either side of you and a river made from blood below you when you suddenly fly up into the sky and do a corkscrew as two people on the right have their photo taken.

You speed around a really tight downwards helix with all people around you watching in fear and shock as you dip down under the ground and burst back up and do an in-line-twist with your feet only just missing the beast you came out from. You rush downwards as everyones scared faces became very excited, you race upwards going over the blood river and the track your about the visit.

'Whooaa,' you shout as you only just miss a load of old crates and pieces of metal just laying there innocently, as you speed around another very sharp corner and suddenly you find yourself zooming down another steep drop with you feet only just missing the pit full of blood right below you. You scream in fear as your launching at top speeds towards a big concrete wall but as your just about to hit it, you fly upwards in the air, being spun upside down and then back down through a gap in the bridge. You zip around one more fast corner and around a zero G roll with once again for the last time just missing a wall made from stones as the two people on the left have their shocked but excited faces taken a picture of. You speed back upwards and around the very last corner as you find yourself in the brake run, shocked but wanting to go round for another go, you undo your seat belt and your restraint lifts you race out grabbing your bag on the way to have a look at your on-ride photo, You quickly run round for another go on the worlds most fantastic roller coaster!

My Nemesis review
Post Posted: Tue 27th Sep 2005 22:10
I remember in my early years when I went to Alton Towers, Dad always used to love Nemesis. So every visit, he'd join the queue, and Mum, my sister and I would go ride Toyland Tours. Of course, nemesis always had a longer queue, so we'd be sitting waiting outside Nemesis waiting for him to return.

When he did come back, his face would always have he biggest grin I have ever seen on anyone. He would always be really excited, unable to control his excitement! I just couldn't wait until I was tall enough to ride Nemesis.

Nemesis really is brilliantly themed. Right from the ride entrance, it know how to build hype. I think the words on that sign will stick with me forever:
"Be warned - This is the worlds most intense ride experience. Be absolutley sure you want to ride before joining the queue."
If THAT doesnt scare you, wait until you start walking down that queue.

The structure is just amazing. I dont just mean the awesome themed station, I mean the whole track. Watching the trains while you're queuing is just incredible. Believe me, hearing those screams will scare you.

The waterfall is pretty creepy too, not because it looks like blood, but because it sprays onto the path and you get it all over your shoes :P

After a while of queuing, you reach a hard choice: Do you want to join the queue for a front row seat? This will add a long time to your queue, but believe me, ITS WORTH IT.

Finally, you reach the front of the queue. Your train pulls up, and you sit down. Your heart is beating - FAST. There's no backing out now. You saw the sign - "be absolutley sure you want to ride before joining the queue." you must have wanted to do it. the train leaves the station.

As you go up that hill, you are terrified. Very excited too, but terrified. You reach the top of the hill, turn 180 degrees. here goes.

What happens next is just a complete blur. You are thrown at brilliant speeds in every direction. The only bit I can actually remember is the big loop. But you don't need to be ware of whats going on. the feeling is just undescribeable. The buzz. The speed. THE THRILL!

And they weren't lying about the intensity. I'm pretty certain I was almost unconscious at one point!

Just over a minuite and a half later, you arrive back at the station. The adrenaline is still pumping. Your heart still beating. I wont ever forget the feeling after getting off after my first ride, finally understanding why my Dad would always smile so much after riding.

Try not to fall over as you leave the station, pray the chav you got stuck next to didn't ruin your photo by making some sort of rude hand gesture, and enjoy the rest of your day at Alton Towers :D

- There. I don't really care if I win or not, but I'd appretiate some feedback from someone :)

Lauzi: Nice review, but keep an eye on your spelling please. :)

Nemesis-- It’s so exciting when your queuing, watching the trains thunder round the track at speeds of about 50mph! And the scary theme tune, telling you the truth behind Nemesis! It’s such an amazing ride, even though it’s not tall, it still has potential (probably much more than any other coaster in the world)! Even I get scared whilst queuing (and ive ridden this coaster around 5 times).

So when you first sit down on your seat you are safely strapped in with restraints, then the floor below you drops, so your feet no longer touch the ground! You do a small gentle turn, which is then shattered by the roar of the lift hill! You climb the lift hill for about 30 seconds then you do a small rounded dip, which is then followed by another hill (at this point you pick up speed) you are then whipped round a corkscrew straight into a tight helix! You are then launched over the monster doing a zero-g roll (Around 50mph!) which then leads into a mega tight turn. You then do another drop which leads to my favourite part of the ride. The vertical loop (this is probably the fastest point of the ride) you get whipped over the loop, leading into an over banked turn, then you suddenly do another zero g/corkscrew (not quite sure what it is lol) with your feet a very short distance from the "mushroom cloud luxury tours" ruined bus. You are then whipped round a tight turn, into the brake run, then the station.

I love this ride probably best at Alton Towers, i give it an 1000000000/10 that’s how good it is! :D

Nemesis is one of the best rides you will ever go on so if you haven’t, then I strongly suggest you do. As a first time rider you will be very nervous but just go for it.

As soon as you enter forbidden valley you can hear the nemesis music playing which adds up to the ride, as well as the nerves! Just as you go to enter the queue you can see the sign which says 'Nemesis- The worlds most intense ride experience'. Ignore it. Trust me, the ride is thrilling and fun. Nothing to be scared of.

Whilst you're in the queue you will probably be shaking as you see the riders get chucked about in their seat and you know that it's your turn shortly. The worst part of this ride is the queuing so just relax and get ready to face your Nemesis! As you enter the station you notice how well themed it is in there and before you know it your waiting behind the gate as the current riders exit. Then the gates open and a large part of your brain will probably say to you to walk straight to the exit on the other side. DON'T! As this point my head thought about how the black hole was closed and how gutted I was to not be able to have a ride on it and i definitely didn't want this to be the case with Nemesis. So I pulled down my restraint and done up the seatbelt and away we went. At the time I was very nervous but as we got to the top of the lift hill I was just excited!

From start to finish, i loved it! You will to. I am anxious to find out when I’m next going to Alton Towers to ride nemesis again and again. Top ride: 10/10.

Williscroft: Edited for spelling a grammar, great review of the build up to the ride but please try to talk about the actual ride experience in the future aswell.

Ok, I remember the days when I was first able to bring myself to ride the terrifying corkscrew as a very young lad, I didn’t have to wait till I was too old because I was always taller than average for my age. I was a little scared at first but I was over the moon when I had finally experienced the pleasure of it.

Not long after this on one of my family's visits, a new ride appeared near to one of the cable car stations that (it seemed) no-one used to ever get off at. I think I was tall enough to ride this beast at the time, but when I looked at the reactions of the people on this ride, and the speed it moved, i couldn’t bring myself to ride it. No, it wasn’t the Beast, or Nemesis, it was the Thunder Looper.

The next visit I think my brother said he was going to batter me if i didn’t go on it, so i made my way down the short, almost empty queue line and rode it. It was bliss, and so were the other tens or hundreds of rides on it over the years as we ran around again and again, without the park being as overcrowded as it is these days.

So, then came a new construction area alongside the thunder looper and we were just amazed at the amount of work going into this area and didn’t have the faintest idea of what was going on at all.

On one of the following visits Nemesis was built and ready for action. After I had been "persuaded" to ride the Thunder Looper there was no rollercoaster I would fear again (thanks Bro). Me, my mum, my dad and my bro all came off our first ride and the looks on our faces and body language said it all. It's the best coaster I have ever experienced and thanks must go to everyone involved with it's creation. What a legend.

Williscroft: Edited for spelling and grammar, please try to keep on topic though and actualy talk about the ride experience.

10 years ago, I was too scared to ride it. However, on another visit I was determined

As we climbed the lift hill the "click-click-click" went on forever but before I knew it we were off. Oh my god the aderenaline I had rushing through my body was something I had never experienced on any ride! Coming out of the 1st drop you enter a wingover, then comes the 4G Downward Helix which about makes you black out :P then an inline twist over the station and now here comes extreme part the the "VERTICAL LOOP" and coming out of that you hit another inversion then a slight corner to another inversion, then you speed up for a hidden wingover! and then it ends. Your eyes are bloodshot, your hair is everywhere and the main thing is you survived NEMESIS.

Lauzi: Edited slightly for s+g. Also, try not to write about personal experiences - write about what you thought of the ride :)

Wow! Nemesis is such a good ride full of loops, twists and turns! We only queued for 5 minutes for this ride! As the restraints lowered, I knew this was going to be a good ride and I wasn't wrong! :) It was fast and very exciting. My hair was flying in my face and my body felt like jelly.

Nemesis: 3 words

Thrills, chills and adrenalin.

You step into Forbidden Valley not knowing that there is actually a beast buried just 100 feet from where you stand. It is has been there for many years in a haunted pit. It is a beast which will send shivers down your spine, and make you scream so loud, those poor Ropers can here you. The beast's name, is Nemesis.

It is like a hidden wonder where bloodfalls shatter your eyes, and the roaring quenches your ears. You can almost taste the bitter white metal as it fills the hole. The area is themed like it should be, a forbidden area. Nemesis has been forbidden and left to rot. Now, 11 years ago, it rose again to make a last stand. When you see it, your heart stops, your limbs freeze, and your eyes go bold with fear and amazement. Believe it or not, this beast, is Alton Towers most loved coaster and takes 32 riders round, under and over the monster that lies there.

The theming of the coaster will leave you speechless. It could not be themed any better and remains one of the best themed rides in the world. It is rusty with a huge monster as the station. There are bloodfalls, close rocks and plants which you soar past from only inches away. It takes your breath away and leaves you starstruck.

You enter the ride and walk down toward the beast. A train hurls down the first drop and soars over you into a corkscrew. You watch over it in amazement and think, 'why am i doing this?'. Gradually you walk further down, under the lift hill which gathers the speed for your ride. More steps you walk down as you pass a running bloodfall. The train soars over you again and you watch it speed round a bend and into a terrifying vertical loop. It then hurls underneath where you stand rumbling the ground. Nearer the station, you can see part of the track where the train speeds though an inversion. You approach the monster and before you know it, are on the train, about to face your Nemesis.

The restraints lock, the floor lowers and you are sent out to witness the death defying speeds of the legend that is Nemesis. Slowly, yet sinisterly you travel up the 80ft lift hill. You have butterflies in your stomach, and your heart in your throat. The lift hill is over, you fly round a corner and gather an immense amount of speed forcing you to start screaming. You soar over the queue and are hurled into a corkscrew which leaves you dizzy. A second after, you are experiencing a terrific helix downward pulling 4.5Gs on your body making your cheeks go behind your ears. Out of the helix you come, still amazed by it's 50mph speed.

Not long after, your picture is taken and you twist over the station in a zero G roll which leaves you wondering what just happened. You haven't got long to think though, you sharply turn round a 180 degree corner where you plunge in the bottom of the pit before rising up into a strong G forced vertical loop. The sensations are terrific. You dive into a tunnel and zoom out of it into a curved, rising corner which sends you back down the same way for another corkscrew. You come so close to the rocks you have no idea how your feet didn't hit them. Under another tunnel before hurtling into a quick, fast bend which speeds into the brake run.

Everybody has smiles on their faces, their eyes are watering and your heart is pumping viciously. Your ride on Nemesis is over. It's not though. When you step off you feel dizzy from experiencing the fantastic twists and turns, loops and corkscrews and not forgetting the high G force sending you to the very back of your seat. What is Nemesis? It's the best thing that ever happened to you, everybody else, Alton Towers, and B&M Inverter history.

Do not go to Alton Towers without riding this otherwise you would have missed one of the best experiences ever.

Nemesis

Sit Back it's Fright Time

Nemesis is the reason I am a coaster and Alton Towers enthusiast. It was my first ever roller coaster and it is my favourite coaster to date.

You start by walking through Gloomy Wood and from there you can hear the roar of "Nemesis". Then when you get closer to "The Forbidden Valley" you can hear the "Nemesis" theme music which makes the atmosphere.

Then heading over to Nemesis you see the helix after the corkscrew just in you site. I normally run over there as fast as possible at this point filled with excitement and magic. I will just have to stand there for 10 minutes just to look and watch this monster, then I will run into the queue line. This is by far the best experience ever, you have this amazing theme music playing around the whole area as well as blood waterfalls right next to you, you could even touch them if you wanted to. Then you have the monster that is nemesis weaving around the queue line path. Then you see the train come out of the station and start to make its climb up the lift hill.

Then it disappears into the trees and it all goes quiet, then all of a sudden you start to hear the roar of Nemesis, then it just flys past you. You feel the wind blow into you face and at this point you marvel at this masterpiece.

Then you head into the station where at this point you are either shaking with fear or shaking with excitement or maybe a bit of both. Then it is you turn to board, you go and take a seat. You pull your seatbelts down and make sure the seatbelt is done. Then the ride host comes round and checks you seatbelt and restraint. Then the floor drops below your feet and you depart from the station. By now I am just shaking with joy and excitement, then you reach the top of the lift hill and it is time to experience the worlds most intense ride experience.

To me nemesis is one of the most intense roller coasters I have been on, the layout is totally unique and the ride never lets up and this is why nemesis is so famous world wide. It was beautifully designed to never slow down and offer intensity throughout not just on certain parts.

Nemesis is the monster that rules Alton Towers and I dont think Alton will ever build a coaster that can beat it.

I Went to Alton Towers on Saturday and I went on Nemesis and I thought it was even better than Rita. While You were queueing it was great looking at the blood coloured water and The Nemesis Train running over your head, so i went on it and i havent screamed as much in my life, I couldnt really remember what happened but I know that I loved the bit with the loops and the tunnel. I went on with my mate and I was sat in the middle and even going up the hill at the start was making my tummy have butterflies, if you havent already gone on Nemesis, you need to because it is just brill and it has so much fear and excitement and so much adrenaline, so please go on this ride. :)

:D What to put about Nemesis? Well. I don't think it was the best ride in the park because it didn't have anything that made me go 'wow' about it. It was just a simple roller coaster, but I did like it :!: It was faster than I expected and the queues weren't as bad as they could've been. The only critisism I have while I was on the ride is that I'd just been on Air which have very tight restraints compared to Nemesis, so I did feel as if I might slide through the seat.
