The year’s 2001. Three years after the construction of Oblivion and four years after the re-theme of Fantasy world to X-sector. Energiser has been moved to ug-land for the new season. And there’s a now empty space underneath the break run of Oblivion, Tussaud’s dig into the darkest depths of there pockets and find the money for a small flat ride. Thus Submission was born.
Submission is a Chance double inverter with a difference. Instead of the carriages being attached to the spinning arms, they are free to rotate on there own axis. There are two carriages opposite each with there own queue. They both hold 24 people (that’s 48 per ride) and swing in opposite directions.
From a distance Submission is quite a spectacle, the two carriages swinging perfectly in time, speeding away from each other before meeting each other at the rides peak. You always hear the scream’s of the individuals when the ride holds it’s passengers upside down.
You enter the ride through one of the two entrances (the choice is yours (but on days with a low number of guest’s only one carriage will operate). You wait for the last carriage to come to a stop before the guests hurriedly exit. The gate is opened and you walk to find your seat. You sit down and wait for the remaining guests to do the same. You put your hands against the seat as the restraints are tightly lowered. You feel them pushing against your legs before a second lap-bar pushes against them. This feeling is quite uncomfortable and will slightly hurt some people. The side bars lift up and then the real ride begins.
As the ride begins you are swung forward 90 degrees into a vertical position. You are then quickly pulled backward into the same position but is time around you are facing the sky. You are then forced backward into a full rotation. On you second way round you are held upside down for about ten seconds. At this point your legs will be push against the restraints and the blood in you body will rush to your head (At this time you will feel a slight pain in your legs , nothing to put you off though) You may also hear coins and even mobile phones fall to the ground if some unsuspecting rider has forgotten to where pockets with zips on them. After a long ten seconds the carriage falls back the way it came and does another full rotation. The ride then repeats the two 90 degrees swings from the start of the ride before coming to a complete stop.
Good points
• Hardly ever a queue
• A brilliant ride to watch
• Great experience when hanging vertical facing the ground
Bad points
• Painful
• Fairly short
• May lose anything in an unzipped pocket.
