Looks like no-one yet has forked out for the most expensive place to eat in the park, so I'll share my story.

After being seated promptly, we sat down at a nice table and browsed the menu. There's a full selection of starters (called 'Small Plates') and main meals.

Your looking at £4 for a starter and £8 for a main meal. There's a big empathsis on healthy food here, with many items sporting the healthy symbol. Food includes BBQ ribs, grilled chicken breast and chicken skewers and salads. All meals are served with either fries or a baked potato and come with coleslaw and a side salad.

You go to the bar in the middle to order your food and drink. (They don't have a license yet so no alcohol just yet. BTW, a pint of Coke is £1.95)

Our food was brought out quite quickly. There's plenty of BBQ sauce on top of the ribs, they aren't particulary big but are quite nice. The chicken breast was very nice and worked well with the sauce. The fries weren't much to sing about but it was nice to have some salad with it.

A nice meal and while expensive if it were on the high street, in the theme park the nice place to eat away from the chavs were you can keep some dignity it's worth the price.

In brief, it's a great restaurant for the theme park, but don't expect anything amazing.

Thom... :)

I think this is a cracking place to eat, having eaten there twice now.

I think the prices are quite reasonable, and you get a decent ammount, and is very filling. Also you get annual pass discount.

Service is quick, with food arriving within minutes of ordering. Lets hope it stays like this, as I think staff from the Secret Garden are currently helping out as well. Also staff seem very friendly.

Certainly recommend a visit if you want something different from the same old big macs/kfc and fries.

A great addition to the parks food outlets.

I have eaten in this restaurant 4 times now, and i've found nothing at all to fault it! The staff are very pleasant, the food is excellent, and is quite reasonably priced. With Annual Pass discount the prices are even better.

Its great to have somewhere to eat that feels very fresh, new and clean, I would recommend everybody to try out the food at least once!

The only tiny bug I have with this restaurant is that some of the cheaper items on the menu don't seem to come with too much food. But the larger plates certainly do fill you up for the whole day, and you can save money on snacks for the rest of your visit.

Im sure you have one......no alcohol....yet!

I would like to see later opening hours for the bar and perhaps some night entertainment?

It's a great venue. The prices are akin to most pubs, around £5-£8 for a main meal. The small plates are tiny, so I wouldn't recommend then unless you are dietting :P - but certainly the 3 Bone Beef Rib and the Combo's are excellent.

Good service, tasty food, reasonable prices - Rita's Chicken and Ribs is probably the best eatery on park now.

:)

Eaten there and its very nice, best eatery in the park, in my opinion in terms of food quality and being able to sit inside and have a civilised meal.

For those thinking that they will go for the small meals, which are in the starters section - avoid these as they are tiny and not worth the money, but the main meals are much better value for money. I think the smaller starter meals shoudl make it clear these are designed as small appetisers rather than meals to keep you going.

Looking forward to when this place gets its licence.
Very good to see the management taking park food in another direction. :D

Eaten there once so far, and it's definitely an improvement on the previous outlet which was on the same size.

Even without Annual Pass discount, the prices are pretty reasonable, and portion sizes are perfect on the main meals. The service tended to be extremely fast, even with a large number of orders being placed at the same time. As others have echoed, once a licence is granted then it'll be perfect for a chillout outside having a break from rides. I can however see it getting very very busy during the Summer, so perhaps additional seating should be organised outside.

This is definitely a step in the right direction for the park, and a welcome change from plastic plates, chicken and lattice fries!

Lush! LOL. Very nice, as already said, even without annual pass discount it's not too much, and good prices and size meals. Also deleivered right to your table in quick time than it takes some mcdoanlds to get you your good, it was amazaing, and tasted so good. Well wort at least one trip to try it! Takes you out the theme park feeling for a bit.

I absolutely adore this place. Over the past few months Alton have done really well with new food outlets and things to do. The main one being the Extraordinary Golf but in terms of catering, the Rita's Chicken and Ribs is exquisite! I have only had two different food options off the menu - the chicken sandwich with garlic mayo and a mini snack one which was the chicken goujons - both were delicious.

They are very generous when it comes to prices and how much they give you. Joel's plate was filled completely the other day. Great value for money especially with AP discount. The staff are pleasant enough in there and the food gets to you very quickly.

It fits in well enough to its area and does look fairly stylish inside and outside. It will probably need a few more chairs come the summer however, you will more or less always get a seat at the comfy chairs :).

My only complaint so far is that a my Latte took a fair amount of time yesterday.

But still, it gives me what I want and is very nice. And it's got Becks :)

10/10!

Dan

I've eaten there twice now and on both occasions it was fantastic! With season pass discount, your laughing.

The food is served promptly, and the staff are very welcomming and accomodating. The ribs are good quality, and the sauce is bets described by the following imge; people sucking the bones.

Definatley worth the visit. You can order, eat and be gone with half an hour. So it doenst eat up your whole day!

Rita's chicken and ribs is a fantastic restaurant. It's got to be the best food outlet on park with wide variety and healthy choices. I eat here everytime. It's also handy to pop in when the rides are open late like in Scarefest. It's a lot better than the hogs head as well.

Re: Rita's Chicken and Ribs

Visted Rita's Chicken and Ribs today for the first time, overall not bad but at the expensive end of the Alton eateries. For family dining Explorers Pizza Pasta can't be beaten on value or quality, and it will definately work out quite a lot more expensive at Rita's adding the drinks onto the food bill especially with thirsty kids. However if you want burger and chips and obviously chicken and ribs its better quality and more filling than the standard stuff churned out by KFC and Burger King. And they serve beer!

The burgers are the same as served up at the Mutiny Bay BBQ (big and filling; a bit dry), but it's warmer as it's indoors and more comfortable sat at proper tables, and there's a good choice of kids food (vegetable pasta bolognese / burger and chips / shepards pie etc) in conjuntion with Annabel Karmel. Prices £7 - £8.50 for big plates, £4.25 for kids meals, £2 pint coke and £3.25 pint beer. Bigger kids (8+) will probably want an adults meal.
The ribs are very lean and just fall off the bone, with quite a lot of sauce, accompanied by french fries (or jacket) and salad and coleslaw. Choice of sauces on the table.

Service OK, order at the bar and wait 15 mins or so for the food to be delivered. No toilets, you have to leave the place and go to the block just behind near the skyride station.

Would I go back? Yes, when I'm bored of Pizza Pasta and want a beer with the meal, indoors.

Rita's Bar and Grill
Post Posted: Sun 14th Mar 2010 20:31
I thought Rita's Chicken & Ribs was OK, but due to the fact that I'm a vegetarian, the name made me wonder if I'd find anything atall. I did find something, but there wasn't really a wide enough range. However, if you're not a vegetarian, there's a great range of meaty meals. The biggest down-side was that a perfectly vegetarian meal was available, but with added meat, and they didn't sell a version without any meat. But I think this restaurant makes lovely food!
