Re: The Smiler - General Discussion

Even if you take out the 'major' problems (ie stalling) I haven't heard a report of anyone queueing who WASN'T delayed by a minor breakdown. Let me be the 1st then - went on 3 times the day after it opened and only experienced one holdup when a disabled person needed helping on and off again, other...

Re: X Sector Refurbishment

Was there today. One arm still. Plus it still sounds like there are plenty of stones in the casing! Its not stones in there, its fragments of steel and other debris from when it was manufactured - you often find it with many things, they punch a steel hole into the frame to mount cabling etc and it...

Re: Angry Birds going to Lightwater Valley

On the face of it, yes, this is just a play area, but having seen the one already at Sundown, I can safely say this is so much more than the Dung Heap - the quality of the equipment is incredibly high and there is much more equipment. Our son played in here for a few hours yet in the Dung Heap he wa...

Angry Birds going to Lightwater Valley

Press release from Lightwater yesterday: A worldwide phenomenon is catapulting into the North of England this spring, as Lightwater Valley Theme Park, North Yorkshire, confirms that it will be home to the UK’s latest Angry Birds Activity Park, opening late Spring 2013. As the first Angry Birds Activ...

Re: The Smiler - Construction Discussion

I still say that land clearance and the first stage of construction should of been completed by mid October/end of October with vertical starting beginning of November. It would of been even more free publicity for Smiler from people visiting for Halloween/Fireworks. I really hope that the people w...

What about Pendragon's Plunge as the new water ride???

Pendragons Plunge is off to Gullivers Matlock Bath - the Gullivers parks have got a couple of the old Camelot rides from what they were saying at the Great Days Out Show over the weekend.

Re: Blackpool Pleasure Beach General Discussion

I must agree, after the tour we had last season and meeting the people behind the Pleasure Beach, there is a lot of love at the Pleasure Beach, they totally changed my mind about the park, just seeing the amount of work that goes on during the season was an eye opener.......the cosmetic side of thin...

Re: who made duel?

There is no point getting all upset about it - I mean, if you think that me making a simple error is insensitive! I know hauntedone, in fact I have spoken with the guy behind it and I don't profess to be a know all in dark rides I bow down to his knowledge, my interest lies with coasters at the end ...

Re: who made duel?

Just been reading back on the notes and documents I have on Shrieksville, and yes, although Sparks had nothing to do with it, as you say they were gone, the same moulds as the HH ones were used for this chap, the spiders and some minor theming, such as lamps and torches.

Re: who made duel?

I beleive Keith Sparks had a hand in the Pleasure Island Ghost Train too, there are a few monsters and things which look a little more than familiar in there, including this chap:

There is a corridor in the basement of the Towers which is spooky - it acts like a wind tunnel and makes me feel like somebody is rushing past - its brilliant!

Re: Harry potter and the forbidden journey break downs

With such a sophisticated ride I am not surprised to hear about breakdowns, but I went for 3 weeks last year and just about lived on this thing and never once had a problem.

Re: Tip on taking a 3 year old to Scarefest.

We have been taking our little one for the past 3 years - he is now 3.  Small queues happen on most of the kiddie rides but are normally only 10 minutes or so. The ones to look out for are in our experience: Squirrel Nutty (Can top 45 minutes) Frog Hopper (Can top 30 minutes) Ice Age Charlie an...
