Re: Nemesis Water Colouring Gone!

I'm reliably informed that the reason the red dye is currently gone is due to the amount of rainfall over the course of the season. At certain points this year the main reservoir has been very high - because of the dye they are unable to drain the water into the Churnet without facing a rather hefty...

Re: Maximum trains?

Air will always run a minimum of one station, two crafts regardless - it doesn't open with just one. The only reason the third craft would be kept off would be for a technical issue or scheduled maintenance. Even then, if the queue gets above 30-40 minutes the extra craft would be added as quickly a...

Re: Rude staff?

Well if your quotes are accurate, that's pretty crude of them. You should have retaliated with swipes about them being on minimum wage and being Merlin's personal lamp post for cocking their leg up against. Maybe you should show a little more respect to the many members of this forum who happen to ...

Re: Nemesis: Sub-Terra Discussion (ATTRACTION CLOSED 20-25 MAY)

Urgh, I feared this is what they were doing. You can't just tack on a half arsed finale from a scare maze when a ride doesn't work. Fair enough, I appreciate the other changes made to the ride but this is a bit of a bodge job. I think there's other ways they could have gone about it. In fairness th...

Re: Nemesis: Sub-Terra Discussion (ATTRACTION CLOSED 20-25 MAY)

I was lucky enough to ride today in the half hour it opened - here are a few spoilers... Considering that the last time I experienced Sub-Terra was opening day I was staggered by how different it all felt. For a start (mainly thanks to the initial video) the story made sense and seemed to get people...

Re: The Smiler - Speculation

Anyone care to speculate on the rather impressive 15m x 15m theming object that will be at the centre of this ride? Considering how often the track passes through that particular area it could be pretty spectacular!

Re: Th13teen - Ride discussion [SPOILERS TOPIC]

I have been reliably informed that the problem is that a valve connected to the drop mechanism has broken. I don't think its a major issue to fix but clearly something that requires specific parts and a certain level of expertise with the complex drop - with the ride being handed over as late as it ...

Re: Th13teen - Ride discussion [SPOILERS TOPIC]

Has there been any new information on the queue entrance, station layout, exit paths etc? Just getting a little curious about these minor details now seeing as most of the so called secrets seem to be reasonably nailed on! Unfortuantely I've been forbidden to visit without a certain group of friends...

Re: SW6 / Thirteen - Ride & Construction discussion Part 2

I have heard from more than one source that staff have been offered the opportunity to ride Th13teen at some point on thursday. Combine this with the bootcamp going ahead on tuesday and the fact that the official website still has "Theme Park Opens 20 March 2010 - ride TH13TEEN!" emblazone...

Re: SW6 / Thirteen - Ride & Construction discussion Part 2

There was another 5m or so of straight and flat track added on both levels after those photographs were taken. I think its fairly safe to assume some sort of vertical drop with a gentle reverse launch to give it a bit of momentum before the drop into the helix. What I'm most excited about though is ...

Re: 2010: Fireworks to make a welcome return!

This is excellent news! Can't help but feel that many people are being overly harsh on the people of Alton however. The vast majority of locals i know and have spoken to fully support the park. The fireworks in particular seemed popular mainly because they could be seen and enjoyed from a number of ...

Re: SW6 / Thirteen - Ride & Construction discussion.

I really hope the organisation of Rita and Thirteen's queues don't remain as planned. Surely the plaza area outside Rita's current fastrack entrance should be extended to connect with the exit path of Thirteen to fully incorporate the new ride into the area. I realise this may create the need for a ...

Re: SW6 Theme Discussion

I think that particular local tale would suit the theme brilliantly - i can imagine hurtling around the final backward helix with the tree in the middle and perhaps the sound of bells :) To back this up, i was recently reliably informed that a tree will feature heavily in the theming of the ride - a...

Re: SW6 Ride Discussion

As has been previously mentioned, Tower of Terror is clearly the kind of system to be looking at here. An entirely powered and controlled 'drop' is perfectly plausible for SW6 and I think could easily be transferred to a coaster. Anyone who has ridden any of the versions of ToT will know that the ri...

Re: 2010: Secret Weapon 6 Part Two

I think accusing 'these locals' of being demented and in need of locking up is grossly unfair. They represent a small minority of the people in Alton in my experience - I know a number of villagers who love the park as much as the rest of us and visit regularly. As I'm sure has been mentioned before...

Re: 2010: Secret Weapon 6 Part Two

I'm not so sure, the second half of Kawasemi and Piraten both use flat track rather than box section. Seeing as this ride is considerably smaller its conceivable that it would be used for the whole circuit? Re: 2010: Secret Weapon 6 Part Two

I find it very difficult to believe based on all the hard evidence seen so far that this is a B&M. As has probably been mentioned before, B&M do not really go in for 'gimmicks' like reversing track, launches or special effects - for example the case of Hulk's launch having to be made suppose...

Re: 2010: Secret Weapon 6

I'm just a little bit concerned, that as with Corcscrew before, having the queue entrance all the way down at the bottom of UgLand in the middle of the Rita helixes completely detracts from the impact of the ride. All the major coasters at Towers have some form of interaction between the queue and t...
