Re: 2012: Neglect, decay - demise?

I think Astrodan makes a good point, even though people are pointing out these issues at Alton Towers, when they go, they are still having a fun time. I also think like others have said,  the state of the park is not the Mechanics fault,  Ride Ops, and lower management.  In fact, if i...

Re: Etnaland 2013: "The Storm" Mack Coaster

When I saw the thumbnail image on Facebook Sam, my heart jumped a beat as I thought the writing at the back said England. It looks like a great family coaster, with that last inversion just to add a little extra.  With a 1.3m height restriction hopefully it will not be long before a English par...

Re: Thorpe Park Saturday 7th April 2012

Strange about the 360 Bar,  the last two times myself and Lisa have been, we have had the food within 10 minutes of ordering.  At least you got something for free. As for Swarm, I agree completely, its  a all round enjoyable fun roller-coaster, which along with Saw certainly help spre...

Re: Thorpe Park 2012: The Swarm

When I was their last week, I thought Colossus was smoother than Saw. The indoor section of Saw is fine, but the outside part throws you around a lot, and feels very rough. I think I would rate the rides at Thorpe Something like this. Swarm Inferno Colossus Saw Stealth I feel bad for putting Saw so ...

Thorpe Park 2012: The Swarm

Well, now that I have been on the ride, I have to say that Thorpe Park and Merlin have done a fantastic job with The Swarm. Having got the chance to go on it three times today, I have to say that it is a great addition to the park. It is well themed, everything fits from the game stands to the photo...

Re: Submission & Enterprise: Now Open for 2012

This is very good news, and I am glad Alton Towers changed their mind.

The 2012 season ride line up is now an improvement on 2011, and this can only be a good thing.

MINI MEET: Alton Towers - 19th February 2012

Me and Lisa will be there.  We are going to the Spa in the afternoon so might leave a little early.

Re: Europa-Park 2013: Family Rollercoaster.

To be fair to Merlin,  I think they did a good job with Saw:The Ride and was CATCF just before Merlin took over.

You have to get the right balance,  I would hate to another another Ugland/Rita situation.

Re: Varney on BBCR4: 'The single biggest issue is VAT'

The problem is, you could say the same about anything. Paying £50pp to go and watch you football team lose is never fun Paying £50pp to go and watch a West End Show you don't enjoy Paying £150pp to go to the F1 and only see the cars for 5 seconds a lap over 1 hour 30 minutes. Alton Towers is a Theme...

God, what a boring bit of track!

Would be cool if the propellers were working on the helicopter :)

Re: Shocking Seaworld Incident

No, I would not ask a ride operator. If my theoretical condition meant I could live a fairly normal life outside of a theme park, and I didn't consider my curled fist to be a problem elsewhere, then I bloody well would not lower myself to "ask a ride operator" if I could ride their roller...

If you decide to go Dave, would it be for just the day, and if Yes,  would you be willing to possibly share a lift and half the petrol?

Cheers,

Re: Shocking Seaworld Incident

This is a very tough and difficult thing to get the balance right. I would be very interested to see what the Roller-coaster manufactures say about this.  When they design their coasters, to what extent do they take in to account disabled users.  Maybe this could be a question of JW when w...

Re: Places to stay when visiting Alton Towers

I would highly recommend the Chain Oak.  Walking distance from the main entrance so can avoid the parking charge. The rooms are also very nice,  its a converted stable, and don't worry about it being cold,  we had to turn the heating down it was that warm. Breakfast was also very good...

Re: Europa-Park 2012: "Wodan" GCI Woodie

I am the opposite Russell, I think it goes better with Atlantica as the Wooden coaster goes with the pirate ship theme.  And it also adds a better near miss experience for that first (second if you count the mini backwards one) drop on Atlantica. Its a shame more of Blue Fire could not be hidde...

Re: Thorpe Park 2012: The Swarm

I love the fact that Merlin refuses to build wooden coasters because they are seen as unsafe, yet with "safe" metal coasters, they advertise it that it is unsafe and you could lose a limb. Anyone else think these adverts should come with a warning, because 90% of that article is fiction. Ian

Re: 2012 ticket price is £42

I think they need to scrap the BOGOF vouchers,  and try and get the public to see Alton Towers as a premium product, and not a cheap discounted day out that it has become.  Towers is a premium product - and their marketing and pricing policy is set out to show that it is a premium product...

Re: Submission & Enterprise: Closed (SBNO) for 2012

The more I think about this, the more I side with OldGitBen that closing these rides is unacceptable.  Lisa's cousin is not tall enough for the 1.4 Meter rides but can get on Submission and Enterprise, and that will be two less rides for him to go on this season.  We are hoping he reaches ...
