Re: The best UK theme park

Alton Towers. I have been to Thorpe and Blackpool but they both have pretty bad atmosphere, things looking in a bad way. Alton Towers seems to be very magic and different, it is also THEMED. Thorpe is themed. Some areas of Blackpool Pleasure Beach are too. Thorpe park is basically a British island ...

Re: Thorpe Park Floods

One news report did make me chuckle when the presenter said "this is thorpe park, and it's surrounded by water"

An island surroundedd by water? Never!

The title of the topic is "best UK theme park" but in your first post you're ask which is people's "favourite" Which do you mean? there's a big difference between the two!  yeah your favourite theme park is usually the best theme park in your opinion Yeah, that's Dara...

Re: Europa Park - Merlin Annual Pass

You also used to get into PortAventura as well. Some of the best theme parks in Europe were included on the Tussauds pass. Then sadly Merlin took over  :x

Re: Chessington's "Single Rider" policy

Of course you could argue that SRQs (in many cases) don't require any investment. You could easily add one back to the Tomb Blaster exit and the fact that is was never used isn't justification for removing it. Fury I can totally understand, it wasn't practical or safe having it from the exit and thi...

Re: Chessington's "Single Rider" policy

The annoying thing about Thorpe Park is that Rush, Vortex and Samurai all, at one time, had dedicated Single rider entrances but these got replaced when Fastrack became the big thing  ](*,)

Re: Chessington's "Single Rider" policy

Umm. No. You're wrong. Did you even see it?! It's because no one used it! Jared, I know you like to stick up for Chessington at every possible opportunity (no idea why), but I don't think it's fair of you to tell somebody they are wrong. From my experience, SRQs from exits in general don't work. Th...

Re: Chessington's "Single Rider" policy

Just to clear something up, the reason Thorpe Park removed single rider queues was because they said it meant throughputs sufferred due to single riders taking a long time to get to their seats on Stealth. This argument is of course a complete load of rubbish as, if you have staff who are on the bal...

Re: Blackpool Pleasure Beach General Discussion

So would I.... I love Valhalla  :D Also, I don't think it's fair to say that BPB wont get another coaster due to lack of space, lack of money maybe, but they've proven time and time again that you don't need alot of space to build huge coasters. I mean if you look at PMBO's from aerial photogra...

Re: Tomb Blaster - Behind the scenes?

But Duel is a different ride system to Tomb Blaster so the most you ever seem to get is about 15 mins queue  :D Tomb Blaster is also one of Chessington's signature rides with their family market so it's straight away going to beat Duel on popularity. Also Towers has far more rides around the pa...

Re: Blackpool Pleasure Beach General Discussion

The Big One was closed today due to wind. Had a good day anyway but they really need a new steel coaster, wooden ones are OK for a go or two but they need something exciting to go with Infusion. Well many people would rate the likes of Grand National and Big Dipper ahead of Infusion. Let's not forg...

Re: Thorpe Park 2014 season

Thorpe's opening times are very standard, nothing out of the ordinary and I'd be AMAZED if they stayed like that for the season. I really don't understand why Thorpe advertise their opening times so early on and then change them. Remember at the end of 2006 when we all got excited because Thorpe pub...

Re: February Half Term 2014

Not the best line up of rides if you ask me. Could do with an extra coaster or two even if it was just Smiler. Blackpool manage to get all their rides open in time for February, I've never understood why Towers can't (and why Thorpe never could) particualrly since BPB have more coasters requiring ma...

Re: Thorpe Park 2014 season

^I agree with all of this, but I'm pretty sure Detonator was July 2000? Detonator opened at the start of the 2001 season. It was advertised as a package of 3 new rides- Zodiac, Detonator and Vortex, which was kind of a cheat since Zodiac opened in summer 2000 (after the fire destroyed WWH and Tropi...

Re: Oakwood 2014

What Oakwood are clearly doing now, and doing very well, is purchasing relatively cheap second hand rides an theming them to look like new. Very few people who visit Oakwood will know that the Skull  Rock log flume is actually an old flume which had been in Camelot since the 80s. Nor will they ...

Re: Oakwood 2014

Why are we all just assuming one new attraction for next year? It could very well be several new rides, I'd like to see a total re-theme of that Wild West area, like they did with Neverland. They didn't just replace Playtown with only one ride did they now?!  :D
