Does anyone know what the price of a return bus ticket on the X52 is. I've been told that it was £7.50 last year, but if you bought a park ticket on the bus, it was free. If this is the case, if i show the ticket i bought online, would the bus be free, or does it only count if i buy my tickets on th...

Thanks for answering my hotel question. I was also wondering about the X52 bus service from Derby to Alton Towers. How much does it cost, and do you buy your park tickets on the bus (I read somewhere else that this is the case)?

me and some friends are planning to go to the park soon, and want to stay over at one of the hotels, but we're unsure whether we'd be allowed to stay without an over-18 year old. Anyone know whether we would be allowed or if we'd have to go with someone over 18?

Not sure i agree with that......parks can do well outside of chains. Flamingo Land, Oakwood and Drayton Manor are all in the top 10 Uk parks and they are not part of Merlin or BPB. Also, look at Europa Park...that's not in any chain as far as I'm aware and that's oe of the most successful parks in ...

The park had no choice but to take away its largest rides! There was a massive lack of investment, especially after Granada dumped it, and they could either continue on trying to take on Alton Towers (a plan that had failed for every year previous) or try to rebrand as a family park. The logic was t...

America isn't free of its NIMBYS. Disney's Califonia's Adventure has a problem with this. It's constructed nearby to a residential area, so california screamin' (launched roller coaster) has 'scream tunnels' to muffle the screams. A drop tower ride has similar 'scream guards' that drop over your fac...

Hilarious article in this weeks Ilkeston Advertiser. I can't find it online, but it's simply a man who lives near the park, saying that Disney should buy the site and build a new theme park there. Funniest article ever, with 'No-one was availible from Disney to comment' concluding this man's deluded...

there's hundreds thousands of teenagers around this area that used to go each year in the holidays but now its just not for them, its actually better suited than Alton in terms of getting too, main roads near to the park & Ilkeston not too far away I reckon your overestimating the appeal of the...

Just a sad heads up. RCDB now lists the park as closed, permanently. http://rcdb.com/pd272.htm This seems to tie in with colin p's account of most of the rides being gone. It'll be the very sad day, when the 'UK's newest Theme Park' is finally put to rest. (lets just hope some developer buys the sit...

I don't care what's coming in 2008, as long as it's well themed and has a good storyline to it, i'm ok :D . I still reckon the woodie could go ahead, because how many times have you heard someone saying 'we won't do this', then doing it (example, Labour said they wouldn't introduce top up fee's for ...

I agree with the park could loose its magic, and would be a bad decision, but an even worse decision would be to develop the actual towers into some kind of 'exclusive retreat', or the like. Alton should refurbish the towers to the way they were when built, with people allowed to tour the towers for...

Thanks for the info, and the map i was referring to is the one found at http://www.heanorhistory.org.uk/images/BritanniaB.jpg . I thought the coaster looked kinda shuttle-loopy, but i was unsure. I don't kow if this question has been asked before, but on the Britannia Park maps, a rollercoaster is shown, once on the map and again as a little image by the text on 'Adventureland'. Did the coaster actually begin construction or open? And what type could it have been? I had a look on the britann...

The roughness is all part of the experience. People love Concorde, but as Jeremy Clarkson pointed out it was cramped, dirty, expensive and the acceleration was no more than a BMW 3 Series, but he said that it was the greatest piece of engineering ever, and it is well loved. Corkscrew is old, rough, ...

So, another granada great looks set to topple. First Granada Studios, American Adventure looked on edge for a while (thankfully has retreated a little now), and now Camelot. What I want to know is how come none of these parks managed to get a stable plan for after Granada left (I know the movie tour...

When I read this thread again, i'd thought i was on 'Hi-de-Hi Nostalgia Forum', what with all the talk of knobbly knees, casino nights and Su Pollard. I wouldn't like the idea of a casino hotel (would disney have a casino hotel?) or casino nights ('and next week at alton towers, we'll have the S Clu...

I believe the towers should be restored to their former glory, but only using authentic or reclaimed materials to construct. I would perhaps like to see a high quality restaurant, perhaps an area to be used for weddings, but would be totally against anything more than that. The house should be open ...
