Re: The Smiler - Construction Discussion

All Eurofighters are rough it's nothing to do with Saw! Not all Eurofighters are rough! Vild-Svinet at Bon Bon Land (one of the first ever installed) and Fluch von Novgorod at Hansa Park are so smooth compared to Saw and Speed.  Prime examples of Eurofighters executed well. Anyway.... my comme...

Legoland Florida

Screamscape are reporting this morning that Merlin Entertainments have bought the defunct Cypress Gardens in Florida, with an official announcement to follow on 21st January (next Thursday). Odd choice, due to poor location in Florida, and past attempts to revive it. I'm thinking Legoland Florida th...

Re: SW6 / Thirteen - Ride & Construction discussion.

I think that this theming is the best I have seen outside of Disney. [Sorry to be off topic here but...] You've not seen the new Universal Singapore photos then? http://photos-c.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-snc3/hs214.snc3/22170_228559689689_86862329689_3225284_1346880_n.jpg http://photos-a.ak.fbcdn.net...

Re: Blackpool - £4million Loss

You mean this story? http://business.timesonline.co.uk/tol/business/industry_sectors/leisure/article6982293.ece I'm not so sure about it purely being recession based. In the article there is this quote The profit in the previous year was boosted by asset sales. which would mean that if it wasn't for...

Re: The Merlin Annual Pass

Mankey, all annual pass vouchers have a life-span of 10 months, so you can redeem yours in the first week of October if you so wished! In your circumstances, I would leave it until the March meet to redeem your new pass, so that you get the maximum use.

Re: Ug Land / Rita 2010

Speed Fiend was used on some merchandise, so Goddess of Speed could have been for a planned t-shirt/hoodie slogan. EDIT to add: Forgotten that in each record you can see what the names are registered for. As I suspected, Goddess of Speed is not registered for a ride (just T-shirts, sweatshirts; foot...

Re: The Merlin Annual Pass

I feel that the Premium Pass will do better at Thorpe and Chessington, where people are more likely to use the London attractions more frequently. Also, the sales will pick up in (and the lead up to) August when people are visiting the London attractions. For example: A guest goes to Madame Tussauds...

Re: Ug Land / Rita 2010

Talk about scrutiny! I love it! The main evidence for them having a re theme are reduced priced Rita merchandise and this sign change...as well as the fact that they would be insane not to. Alton also chose not to re-register the UG Land trademark when it expired in 2008, then requested its removal...

Re: The Merlin Annual Pass

I'm hoping to see some sort of discount for those who will upgrade at time of renewal from old to New Premium pass (fingers crossed...). Otherwise, I'm quite disappointed that the international parks are not 100% included for that price. I'm heading to Legoland Denmark this year and also hoping to f...

Re: SW6 / Thirteen - Ride & Construction discussion.

that's a really good point actually, were not sure and we may not know until open day... or at least until the 13th :D Or earlier... I don't think an ice sculptor working very last minute/rushed booking in the very early hours of Wednesday morning will have been working to the exact design for 13. ...

Re: SW6 / Thirteen - Ride & Construction discussion.

The snow coaster car was made by an ice sculptor - I found his pics of him making it on Twitter (http://twitter.com/JoeBourton) last night. From his tweets, he only got the confirmation to do it on Tuesday day ti...

Similarly, both of these Tweeps/Twits/Twitter users are involved with casting or voiceovers for the next wave of Alton advertising: http://twitter.com/drugcrush who points to his blog post briefly mentioning it [u...

Re: 2010: Spinball Whizzer Re-Theme!

I'm sure all the major structural paint work could be easily done by February. As for signs, they could keep it as Spinball Whizzer for half term and change signs over between the half term and opening day period. Did the cars in the hotel brochures/welcome pack look like they were due for a major r...
