Re: The Smiler Incident 02/06/15

Thoughts to all those involved, there for the grace of God etc...

So the Towers two biggest accidents happen 26 years apart and in EXACTLY the same location, spooky!

Re: What was the Black Hole like?

The Black Hole was the first ride I followed the construction of nearly 30 years ago. Don't forget, this was the winter of 1983/84 so there was no way of following events unlike today.  I was however lucky enough to live in South Cheshire so my parents received the Evening Sentinel local newspa...

Look at the entrance to the corkscrews. There is your straight.

Looks like I may have been right, no straights have been used as per the planning application.

Where are the two remaining straights going?

Re: 2010: Corkscrews for the Entrance Plaza

That does look possible from that photo, strange that the submitted plans don't show the track as it will actually be?

Re: 2010: Corkscrews for the Entrance Plaza

No but all the track shown in the plans have a curve, those two pieces in the photos are straights.

Re: 2010: Corkscrews for the Entrance Plaza

The "straight" bit isn't actually straight though, is it. It just doesn't twist. I think you will find that it is just the first section of the first corkscrew. Not according to the plans, all sections shown on the planning application have a twist. Oh, and it looks like there are actuall...

Re: 2010: Corkscrews for the Entrance Plaza

The plans show the two Corkscrews, the track in the car park is that from the 2 corkscrews. No doubt I'm not seeing the obvious as usual. :P 'Tis true Vik, photo shows the two corkscrews...and a rogue piece of straight track! There's no straight sections on the plans so where's it going? It's paint...

Re: 2010: Corkscrews for the Entrance Plaza

Take a look at the plans of the track to be used at the entrance and compare them to the track in the photos.

Re: SW6 Construction Part Two

I'd have thought that the track sections that have been delivered are destined for the main building, it would make sense to have these available whilst the loading bay/drop feature are being constructed? It's already clear that some of the track/steelwork is for the maintenance area.

TBH I was expecting the prize to be a cross-section of a track tube, I wonder what's happened to it all?

Can't really sell it TBH, I've had it since I was a kid. I've also got all the park maps up to the late 80s but thanks anyway.

Advert poster from 1982

Digging through my junk the other day and found this old AT poster. A friend from school knew I was a fan of AT after my first visit in '81 so gave me this poster. His dad ran a business and recieved it through his work. It's been stored in a cardboard tube along with my other bedroom posters from m...

Re: Corkscrew: The End of an Era: 9th November 2008

Just got back, I had to be there for the final day. I also managed to get on the last public ride, front row seats to :) Here's everyone who made it, just after the brake run. Can't believe I'll never ride it again, sad day. [url=http://i131.photobucket.com/albums/p281/flipatron/PB090182.jpg" target...
