Well, this photo from the TT is cited as 1989 so the canopies were in place prior to the 1990s but I think that first photo is from around 1992.

Not yet. They still need planning permission to demolish the structure.

The 'Amusment Park' is shown on this 1961 map as #29. It seems to roughly in the Fountain Square/CCL area. However, I don't think think the Talbot Centre (Dark Forest) area was created until the 1970s.

I assume Calypso Springs sounded too similar to Disney’s Calypso Cay Resort in Florida, hence the change of name. However, I must admit that I’ve always found the name Splash Landings strange for a hotel and think it would have been better suited to the waterpark.

My understanding is that the room will continue to be made available for conferences even though its a restuarant so that could partly explain why it won't be open all of the time. Also, there probably isn't enough demand for it. To anybody who hasn't seen what the room looked like before the themin...

Well, I think Tussuads bought the park for £60m in 1990. Since then there has been huge investment including two hotels and several major rides so should be significantly more than that now...

The London Standard have just revealed similar details. It sounds more like a studio tour than a 'theme park' though.
