Re: SW8 Speculation and Discussion

Has anyone else looked at the construction so far, and noticed that there appears to be a lot of woodwork above where the track bed is?almost as if they're planning to add a roof over the track?

Re: The Smiler Incident 02/06/15

I don't think that there's any way a ride operative can be held accountable for this - I believe that these are people paid minimum wage (or close to it), and as such there is no way the'y have the authority to override the computer system...unless one of the techies had accidentally left the ride i...

Re: The Smiler - General Discussion

Hey guys! I'm a new team member, I'm on board to make the TT meets so appealing that you cant resist a park day with us! Some of the team were at AT today and had a great time getting corrected! We had three rides on The Smiler and managed to ride everything else thanks to some generous passes prov...

Re: The Smiler

WOW!!!! WHAT A RIDE. Been today, 2h15mins queue....but worth every minute of waiting. I've not seen one picture that does it justice - nothing captures the size of the ride, the height or how compact it actually is... (bit of a contradiction there), it really does take your breath away when you walk...

Re: The Smiler - Construction Discussion

Well, having not been on for a few days, it's taken me most of the bank holiday weekend to read through the dozens of pages that have appeared... In my opinion, from what people have said about screeching noises, the images of scratched track and the train valleying, my opinion is that the delay is ...

Re: The Smiler - Construction Discussion

What's the extra footer for dead centre of this picture? http://img163.imageshack.us/img163/9193/imageoey.jpg To me it looks like they "forgot" to put the concrete collar around the footer, see adjacent footers. or maybe just a spare??? brought 10 down and only used 9?

Re: The Smiler Train Discussion

I haven't read through all the pages in this discussion, so this may have been mentioned before, but:

Has anyone considered that maybe the trains have some form of hydraulic system onboard, so the trains tip from side to side (almost like in the game, but without the wheels lifting off the track) ?

Re: The Smiler - Construction Discussion

just to add, alton towers dated the pics as 12th march so they are going to be up to date. Like adam has said, the update will show more :D cannot wait The weather over the last few days has been shocking - there's blue sky and no snow on the ground, so although they're dated today, I believe they ...

Re: The Smiler - Construction Discussion

Personally, I could see this being how the supports and track are built - in the following order: http://i29.photobucket.com/albums/c259/shaney108/SupportampTrackPhases_zps65dac399.jpg Phase 1 : As we know, phase 1 was the building of the Batwing/Cobra Roll Element & the inversion under the sta...

Re: The Smiler - Construction Discussion

First post so please be nice. This might have been mentioned but I think there will be a water element. In the sanctuary everyone one got sprayed maybe this is one of the element John W was talking about . Just an idea. I questioned whether the whole area around the staffordshire knot may be a pool...

Re: The Smiler - Other Discussion

Not sure if this is the correct place to put this, but here goes! Im travelling to The Resort for my 21st on April 27th/28th. Obviously was trying to get on The Smiler but since the date has been pushed back to May, that will probably not happen. I just wondered if anyone knew of Alton Towers doing...

Re: The Smiler - Construction Discussion

When we see an update of construction? http://www.tucoaster.com/uploads/galleries/15/15_14.jpg That is supposed to be this? Part of the station building or the spider thing? I really don't have a clue what it is  :? It's part of the washing machine secret element.... Only joking, Isn't that pa...

Re: X Sector Refurbishment

As you say, if they're not opening X-sector, they'll leave it as long as possible, same with blivvy's paint job/refurb. no point in rushing - the mainteneance crews could be sorting some of the other problem areas out instead...
