Re: How was Towertimes site and forum

Think twice, then think twice again  First of all, can you do something different in a way that nobody else does it? Secondly, do you have the drive to put in the vast number of hours required not just to get a site up and running, but to keep a site completely up to date? I don't want to sound...

Re: The worlds scariest theme park attractions!?

For me, always the Tea-Trays at Oakwood: http://www.coasterforce.com/world-park- ... /waterfall Terrifying! It's the mix of the fact that...

Re: Drayton Manor Park 2011: Hotel, Thomas Land Ride & Coaster!

Well I know it's always hard to judge from a POV, but it looks a tad on the dull side. 8-[ Only time will tell, I guess. It is what it is... It's just like somebody took a Vekoma Boomerang, and made it suitable for little kids... You could say they made a Junior version of the Boomerang... ;) I lov...

Re: Drayton Manor 21st April 2010 (Picture Heavy)

It was absolutely heaving today, I've seen it that rammed on fireworks days and the height of summer, but never at this kind of time of year. Incredible. DO you find it really odd that the crowds all seem to hang around the entrance, hour long queues for most rides around there, but Apocalypse is al...

Re: Chessington World Of Adventures: General Discussion

To be honest, I don't give a stuff what rides the place should have to make it "a top European family park". I don't care what the fast track things are. I don't care what the PPH throughput of a ride is. If I go to a park with my family and they spend the day (and remember, my family go t...

Re: Chessington World Of Adventures: General Discussion

The walkthrough is very odd. It's very cramped and dark. I was expecting something much cheesier, but it's about right for the age group they're aiming it at. I didn't see the new Vampire queue sadly (have they added rats?), but I'd forgotten quite how much a beast the ride actually is, though not r...

Re: Gardaland: B&M "Raptor" 2011

I don't think it's that bubble bursting? You could see from testing the ride doesn't whip round the layout. It was always, obviously, a very "air" type of experience. That doesn't make it bad, it makes it an "experience coaster". If a bubble is burst, it's only due to unrealistic...

Re: Alton Towers ride photos!

Lots of these. This is the first one I think I have. It was 1998 with uni friends. I'm at the back obscured by my own bunny ears :) http://a1.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/photos-ak-snc1/v1979/183/109/1043162436/n1043162436_310620_7757.jpg Here I am with step-sister-in-law_furie not enjoying Black Hole, just...

Re: 2011: Discussion

My overall feeling leaving Alton on Saturday was "thank God I have an AP and brought a picnic". Even so, I still felt like my wallet was being surgically removed on entering the park. You pass the "£16 Express Parking" and immediately feel the coins in your pocket tremble in fear...

Re: Idea Topic

Okay, I'll copy this from the height limit change topic, it makes a lot more sense here... One thing Alton (and I've been carping on about this for years)... Play Parks in each area! Swings, slides, roundabouts and climbing frames. Give the little ones something to do CLOSE to the big rides. One in ...

Re: Height restriction changes to Flume and Marauder's Mayhem

I think Merlin should advertise these changes quite clearly online, but also make it quite clear that this isn't their decision to make, in an attempt to give the poor staff slightly less flack :(. I think whatever Alton do, the staff are going to get a lot of flack this season. What Alton need to ...

Re: Youtube problem - videos not playing

It will be some kind of block on the router if it's affecting all PC's in the house, but not outside of the house. You need your Dad to get the computer whizzkid back in again to sort it out. You can always hard reset the router and send it back to factory defaults, but then you'll either find nothi...

Re: THORPE PARK Annual Pass Day

Sounds like a terrible day, but Thorpe has been the same for years. They only care about gate figures, not guest experience. If people still flock through the gates, things will not change. And people will still flock through the gates! I have to echo this. Why do people keep on returning? Year aft...

Re: Alderley Edge-The Edge

It's stupid, utterly stupid... Me that is  I am a huge fan of Alan Garner, and Wierdstone is probably my favourite book ever. I lived about twenty miles from The Edge, but never went, even when I got my driving license and car. I've still never been, despite promising myself since I was seven (...

Re: RollercoasterPhilosophy tours the UK

Just to clarify, I think generally the US rides are better than those I've been on over here, and it is almost certainly to do with length, or at least "having room to play with". It's just that in terms of actual ride experience, beyond length, the US rides don't offer (again, generally) ...

Very good Drayton... now show you really are serious about pwning Merlin with a MACK launch for 2013. ;) Nope, show them wood is still very much in the public eye. I don't care if they go Intamin, GCI or Gravity Group, just take the land by the house Mr Bryan and show Merlin that people want wood a...

Re: RollercoasterPhilosophy tours the UK

Sums up Blackpool for me really. I've got an American friend coming over soon, and The Ultimate review has been giving me some pause for thought recently. When I visited him, he was shocked that I wasn't completely blown away by a lot of the US rides. I think he had an idea we're some kind of coaste...

Stop your bickering, there's new photos taken by CoasterForce's furie! I'm TTF's furie too :P Every time I see that picture of the wobbly spaghetti track at the end, I smile. It's just such a ludicrous piece of track design, I love it. I'm quite excited by this, not because it's going to be a great...

Re: Dreamland Heritage Park Margate megathread

I'm a bit the opposite. I put in hours of work over weeks and weeks to try and save Southport. I spent a lot of time on the phone to people, researching, communicating with EH and the government, created a website, etc, etc, etc. It burnt me out to be honest in the end. It cost a lot in terms of som...

Re: Dreamland Heritage Park Margate megathread

The fun house wasn't entirely captured by Dreamland, PBB managed to steal some of it and break some more. They were actually chased off site while ripping apart the Funhouse roof to get the equipment out by a crane. The River Caves and Water Chute are only the mechanisms too, not the track of the ri...
