Re: Ride Closures/Removals in 2016

I don't like how much this reminds me of the "end days" of The American Adventure: falling visitor numbers, closing rides etc. I realise there are some scale differences, but the phrase "the bigger they are, the harder they fall" keeps coming to mind.

Re: Who would you like to see perform at Alton Towers?

I know that it makes the park lots of money and yes, I know a lot of people like it, but it's not for me. In my perfect, magical, little, bubble world, Alton Towers is meant to be about escaping real life and nothing provides a kick back into reality quite like an eight foot billboard featuring the ...

No one at all. It's a theme park, not a concert venue.

Re: Funny Things You've Overheard at Parks

This was actually in a Sky Ride car, not a queue, but it was brilliant.

A mother said to her teenage daughter, "Rita's not a normal roller coaster, it's jet powered on that straight bit".

The daughter replied, "No, it is normal, it doesn't go upside down".

Re: 2011: Discussion

Don't get me wrong, the desk is a nice touch, and a step in the right direction. But a lot more needs doing before the "magic" is even close to returning. This hardly justifies the rise in prices. Yes, I agree, but that is why I used the word 'promise', meaning I understand the 'magic' is...

Re: 2011: Discussion

Back on the Twirling Toadstool conversation, I went on it yesterday, without having seen the talk of its improvement on here and I'm afraid to say it felt slower than ever. I logged on this morning with the intension of asking if anyone else had found it to be disappointing lately. There is a chance...

Re: Height restriction changes to Flume and Marauder's Mayhem

The Blade's height restriction has gone up. I went yesterday and guests now need to be 1 metre to ride with an adult (up from 90cm) and 1.3 metres to ride alone (I'm unsure, but was this previously 1.1 metres?).

Does need a new topic, or was tacking it onto this old topic the right move?

Re: Progressive musical discussion topic

My favourite Muse album is Showbiz, which contains my favourite song of their's, Sober. No one ever seems to mention 'Sober' as one of their favourite Muse songs though, apart from me, so I thought I'd stick that in there.

I'm guessing no one else is into The Flaming Lips then?

Re: Height restriction changes to Flume and Marauder's Mayhem

I am gutted. My youngest's favourite ride in the whole park is Marauder's Mayhem (or "The Barrels", as she logically calls it) and now she can't go on it. She also loved The Beastie. We're going tomorrow and now I'm going to be expecting tears. :( We were also going to take her on The Flum...

Re: The annual car park price hike. 2011 edition.

The 'don't like don't pay' response doesn't wash with me. This is so aggravating because Merlin bitch about VAT and take the "unprecedented step of displaying our prices with and without VAT" and other such silly statements. They've increased car parking by 20% at a time when fuel is spir...

Re: The annual car park price hike. 2011 edition.

there are several roads around alton which *could* be parked on, there are no yellow lines prohibiting this. While the lanes are small and would get busy rather quickly and upset locals, it would make a rather vocal statement. This is indeed true but as a car owner I wouldn't want to leave my car p...

The annual car park price hike. 2011 edition.

I'm glad I'm now an Alton Towers Premium Pass holder, having visited today and seen that the standard parking price is now £6. The express parking is now £16 too.

Sorry if this has already been discussed elsewhere. I looked, but couldn't find a mention of it.

Re: Th13teen 'Key' keychain. Confused!

I'm afraid I'm a sucker for two things in life. One is limited edition flavours of crisps. The other is Alton Towers merchandise.

Basically, I now own a Th13teen key keyring and very nice it is too.

Don't shoot me for this but... ...what about that baby coaster? Ok, not necessarily the baby coaster we heard about before, but something better? I think that a new very junior coaster should be built, beginning with a Cloud Cuckoo Land themed walk through in the old Nickelodeon building and culmina...

Re: Th13teen 'Key' keychain. Confused!

:-k Unless... What if this key unlocks a secret door somewhere on park? Maybe it gives access to John and Morewonga's secret love nest? In which case, it seems pretty careless of John and "Morewonga" ( ) to allow said key to be mass produced and to be sold in Towers Trading, does it...

They are available in Towers Trading, Duel, Air & Oblivion Shops and at both hotel gift shops. £5.00, Annual pass discount can be used :D . We got our's from the Katanga shop. :) Also, £4 (with Annual Pass discount used) is great value (a mile better than the £30 Monopoly!), as you'd probably h...
