Re: SW8 Area Speculation and Discussion

I still think the best option all round would be for SW8 to sit in its own area, like The Swarm does at Thorpe Park. That way, no Mutiny Bay attractions need to be rethemed, there's no tenuous connection to Katanga and Gloomy Wood, and they can go all out theming it however they like. I have a hunch...

Re: SW8 Speculation and General Discussion

So ahead of tomorrow in which I expect some reveal I watched the original 1973 version of The Wicker Man. Obviously, it's almost pretty certain Wicker Man will be the name of this attraction and in terms of every other attraction in the world, this at Alton Towers will be globally unique. https://i...

Re: SW8 Speculation and General Discussion

If the ride theme itself is about paganism and reconnecting with the natural world it may not be as dark a theme as some people were fearing. Not a fear I really share since I love dark themes but I can understand people taking issue with every new ride having a sinister theme. I see what you're sa...

Re: SW8 Speculation and Discussion

Hi there, it's been AGES since I last posted on here, but I've been following construction for a while and thought I'd drop one of my own little observations. It turns out that if you take each string of runes, put them in order of when they first appear (so: firstly his T shirt, secondly the TV scr...

Re: The Smiler - Construction Discussion

WOW, people are finally being positive, I hope that the atmosphere in this forum will get better :moj (unless the negativity continues...) I know, finally!! Lets get TT back to the positive and fun state it was in before any of this happened! I hate everything. :P To add my tuppenc'worth, the overr...

Re: The Smiler - Construction Discussion

Hello folks, not exactly new here (I've not posted since something like 2008), but I might as well be. Been following the updates and discussion for a while now (thanks MI7 et al!), so I thought I'd chip in with a couple of thoughts. First off, it's great to see construction motoring on at a decent ...

CBBC Filming 07/06/10

Just thought you might be interested. Was at the park yesterday and saw a small film crew (sound guys, couple of cameras etc) filming three kids at various points in the park. I personally saw them around near Hex, the bridge over a path around the Hole-in-one/ride queue time section, outside Nemesi...

Re: Confession Topic

1. I don't post on here too much...you probably noticed. 2. Rita is one of my favourite rides on the park and I don't understand why people don't rate it too much except on 'connoisseur-ish' reasons. 3. I only started to properly rate Nemesis recently and it's not one of my favourites 4. I actually ...

Th13teen Queues

I decided not to post this in the How Busy thread cause it only relates to one specific area of the park. I was basically wondering on the 20th when my halls of residence head to AT, how long the queues for Th13teen are likely to be? I'm guessing quite massive, but I'm trying to figure out whether o...

Re: Big Dipper Incident @ Pleasure Beach Blackpool

Out of interest, is the Rollercoaster now open due to Dipper's closure? I'd personally think that 'the need has arisen', could someone let me know?

Re: Big Dipper Incident @ Pleasure Beach Blackpool

BBC say a train became 'jammed on the rails'. Sounds like, and I hate to say this, the first train was caught on the anti-rollback device before the turnaruond, the ride ops released the other car and in went into the back of the first one. Really don't like this, I love the PB, and was looking forw...

Re: PBB - 2009 Discussion

Forgot I was registered here!
Am heading down on a Monday towards the end of August, just wondering about a couple of things. I don't quite understand the Rollercoaster/Big Dipper situation. What's likely to be open when I go down? And secondly, is the red car on the National still having problems?

Although it gives a further degree of 'interest' to what is hardly the most exciting ride in the world, it is very inconvenient. What if you'd won one of those giant tiger-sharks you get at PBB? And you had a rucksack with you? Or if you win the car for getting a hole in one?

Yeah, I agree with that. Harry Hill did a great wee sketch on his stand up show. He said "My Nan's died again. Yeah, she died again. This time, though, we thought we'd have a bit of money thrown at it. We'll get her enbalmed. So we took her to the guy who does it, and he asked for a photo of he...

But then again, "Stealth" is a bit of an intimidating name. Haven't done it yet, but it does look good, although I agree it's more like an unlikely, Scalectrix-style 'race track' than a real race track. I'm really into F1, and Rita's track does seem a bit like an old-style European track ...

Re: New to the forum? Introduce yourself here!

Hi there, I'm James from Peebles (just south of Edinburgh). Been resident on BPB Guide for the last year and a half, more or less. Big music fan, I love The Who, Frank Zappa, Jethro Tull, Faure, Muse, Sondheim and more. I try to give balanced, fair and non-provocative comments in a balanced, fair an...
