Re: UK Park Of The Year 2013

Thorpe Park because it has improved dramatically over the last year or so. Staff seem to be much friendlier, there's been less ride downtime and events are so much better than before; with the introduction of Summer Nights and re-imagined Fright Nights.

Re: Scaremazing 2013 Reviews

Loved the event. The talk with Pete and Gerry was very insightful. It was great to hear how much enthusiasm they have and to realise how much of an impact Pete's role has had across the resort. Doing the extreme versions of Terror of the Towers and The Sanctuary was an interesting experience; it's t...

Re: Quick Questions 2009

Hi Guys, A quick one from an old regular reader... I have two sun tickets for use on Sunday 4th. (I wasnt going to go but the chance of looking at the SW6 site and stariing at the track in the carpark is too great  ) Do i need to queue at the ticket booths, or can i just go straight to the tu...

Re: 20% Discount - Pass Number Logging (Now On Park)

The numbers are missing on my annual pass, because it didn't get printed properly. Whenever I've been asked it's a pain having to explain and virtually fight for a discount. Since they've begun checking it on park, I've been told that I should get it reprinted. I went to the annual pass office, but ...

Re: Quick Questions 2009

Yeah, just get your hand stamped from a staff member near the turnstyles on towers street before you leave.

It's called Towers2, next day is £9, any day in the remainder of 2009 season is £14.

Re: Single Riders ??

It's good to see Alton saw this as the way forward, and added SRQ on Nemmy & Oblivion. Other parks don't seem to think SRQ's are needed? At parks like Alton, it must be a great feature to try and keep the family together for as much time as possible, even if only say one member of the family ca...

Re: Single Riders ??

Brilliant thanks, must admit I have seen that happen on Rita and Nemesis in the past, mainly with gangs of kids using it for a 'quick' ride and hoping to get on together , sort of defeats the object though. Occasionally you can end up sitting next to who you want to even in the SRQ. Obviously not r...

Re: Photo prices

On ride photo prices rose recently to £7, or you can get a photo pass for £20 which allows you 5 on ride photos.

BTW, there's a quick questions topic for questions like this. :)

Re: Quick Questions 2009

Hi everyone, Now, do you think I should invest it a fast track scream? I will be going in the summer holidays and want to get on Nemesis, Air and Oblivion mainly. As it is the summer holidays, and I don't normally go that time of year, I was just wondering if anybody thinks it would be a good idea....

MY question is, the Nemesis restraints: are the restraints with two belts new replacements or old harnesses?

I thought double seat belts were just used for the bigger seats.

Re: Quick Questions 2009

As the track/train is above you on Nemesis, sometimes water drips down onto riders too. Which might be discouloured if it's mixed with the track wax/rust patches.

Re: Quick Questions 2009

Yeah, I've screen capped the timetable (as it was a pdf) so you should be able to see it for yourself here. I'm not sure why the official site doesn't link to this actually, last years timetables were much more informative.

Re: Quick Questions 2009

According to the bus driver I talked to last Saturday in Uttoxeter, there's two bus services serving Derby. One that comes from Nottingham and departs from Full Street in Derby, and another that serves from Derby train station (bus stop: S1) to the park. This timetable supports this anyway.

It's independently operated, so isn't included in the new wristbands that they've launched this year.

Re: Alton Towers evacuation plans

There's an interview with Russell Barnes that appeared in FHM where he said that whilst AT isn't a 'high risk target', they do regular drills for terrorist attacks, one where people were being decontaminated in the car park. Re: Quick Questions 2009

This might give you a better idea, but each train is split into smaller sections which can accommodate 12 people. There's a photo here which might make it clearer (stolen from Dagan's corky PTR) http://lh3.ggpht.com/_ZnSUD1nArCM/SRdMI5cgBGI/AAAAAAAAB5U/r4h8ZUfC4TA/s144/DSCF2008%20%5B50%25%5D.JPG Lin...

Re: Quick Questions 2009

The monorail goes from the entrance to the hotels, not around the park. You can walk to the hotels from the park entrance in something like 10-15mins if you prefer. Edit: Just looked at a photo to check, there are windows that open like those you get on buses. I.e. at the top of each pane there's a ...

The opening to The Ting Tings - great DJ reminds me of the track that plays in the monorail buildings/YourDay video.

Re: The '1.8' Family Ticket

At first I thought that this was gonna be a publicity stunt along the lines of Hire a Mum, but themed around Valentines day. Reading on though, I agree that the ticket will serve a family type well that has long since neglected with the traditional family offers.

Re: Corkscrew: The End of an Era.

Does anyone know how they decide what part of the track to start with when taking down a coaster? I just thought they'd bash the thing to the ground! I thought that they started at that end as it was easier access for the crane to get into the middle; it could then just swivel to get most of the re...
