Re: Proposed Paramount Park in Kent

Here's a thought; if the park does arrive, wouldn't it be wise for merlin to acquire a northern park like LWV or Mingo, so their eggs aren't all in one southern basket, so to speak...

Re: Has Alton Towers lost its touch?

http://youtu.be/ZAzLiQKEztA This advert has stuck with me since I was a teenager; Alton Towers felt like the music, and it felt like an adventure to go.  I visited on Sunday, and TBH was left bored - the first time this has ever happened.  The park is beginning to feel neglected, and unde...

Alton Towers April 2013 (photo heavy)

Ages since I have bothered to do a trip report, so as such will keep it brief.  Pictures are in no real particular order, but hopefully tell the tale, not least because my camera hated the low light.  It was an odd day; for all of the focus on the smiler, the park felt somehow subdued, and...

Re: LWV HDR

Great photos, I was at lwv just a couple of weeks ago, I'd forgot how rough the ultimate was, I only managed 3 rides on it despite there being no queue all day. Simple tip for the Ultimate, for those that don't know - cross your shins, cross your arms, and cross your fingers...the first two work at...

Will theme parks go the way of seaside funparks?

When I was a kid, every seaside locally - the likes of Whitley Bay, Seaburn etc, had a funpark.  Blackpool was the top dog, and the likes of Alton Towers was very much an up and coming attraction, with the revolution really happening the year Nemesis was built. It stands to reason then, that th...

Re: What is so bad about Nemesis Inferno?

Firstly I'll ask this simple question - did the 'Nemesis' prefix help, or hinder the popularity of ride? I've only ridden it once, and found it to be disappointing.  It was like they had somehow painted Nemesis beige - by no means bad, just bland, and 'safe.' Maybe a retheme could work wonders ...

Re: Legoland Discovery Centre for Canada

If it brings home the bacon, I don't have a problem with it.  There will reach a point where the smaller flatpack attractions essentially pay for the stuff in the bigger ones.

Does the UK need more rollercoasters, or 'experience rides?'

Simple question - would the UK benefit from more rollercoasters, or from more 'experience rides?' - by which I mean the likes of Valhalla, Bubbleworks, and Hex? Personally, while I love rollercoasters, I'd opt for the latter, which if indoors, could be run for more of the year, unaffected by the UK'...

Re: Lightwater Valley: 2013 developments

I posted my opinion on Valley Mania, and have lazily put it here, rather than rehashing it here... I thought this, taking the questions from the outreach document the best way to express my views. 1. What do you like about the ideas proposed? It's about the right size, certainly as a foot in the wat...

Re: Drayton Manor 2012 Season

Begs the question what they intend to do with the site - its hard to think they'll tear the building down, so you'd imagine that by definition it will be some kind of indoor waterborne Thomas ride.  Pirates was buggered, lets hope whatever it is, it is done with care, and looked after, and at l...

Re: Lightwater Valley: 2013 developments

I'm slightly baffled where the perception that the park either has no money, or last year had millions to spend comes from.  The park, unlike several higher profile parks, makes profit.  It has been hamstrung over the past ten to twenty years, partly due to its own fault, partly due to cir...

Re: Blackpool Pleasure Beach General Discussion

Blackpool can be hitty missy at the best of times.  Truth is most UK parks appear to be a little run down at the moment, and BPB with it's weather and location, is always going to look a little more weathered than most.  Either way it's looking loads better than four or five years ago, whe...

I've always been surprised that Hornby don't see the marketing potential of a rollercoaster train set.  Runaway Mine Train?  Toot Toot.

Re: Merlin's next park?

I visited PBB about four years ago, and frankly, it was an utter dump.  We visited again last year on the off chance, and the improvements in the ensuing years have been excellent, and I don't think Merlin could, or would have made any better a fist of it.  There is an elephant in the room...

Re: Roper update

In the scheme of things, how unreasonable are they, compared to say the Nimbys at Chessie, or say LWV's Farmer Giles?
