Re: Rides Ops / Ride Hosts

The ride op on RMT yesterday afternoon was a great laugh - everytime the train left the station/went round again/everyone left he'd always shout "Bye, guys" in the same voice. My favourite of yesterday was probably Rob of Spinball. His enthusiasm was great - even when the ride broke down a...

Re: Duel: General Discussion

I went on Duel yesterday - and it really was looking terrible. I ended up in the haunted house for getting on for half an hour as the ride kept breaking down and many of the effects (including the camera) were not working. This really surprised me as when I usually go on, the ride is fine. The sound...

Re: Squirrel Nutty

A great ride for youngsters and adults alike (if they can fit into the squirrel that is!). Squirrel Nutty Ride is a really magical ride - but because of this queues are always very long throughout the day. Some great theming is included but because the track is long, I prefer it without the pedals b...

Re: The Monorail

I too love the monorail. It does its job which is to transport guests to and from the park entrance and Towers Street. The outsides of the trains look 1million times better than they used to (the old grey ones). The soundtrack of the person talking inside the train (eg Pirate Whats-his-name) is alwa...

Re: 2010 Park Map

1 of 2 things will happen... 1) the map will change completely (new theme, new look etc. most likely to be themed around the SW6 coaster. maybe a 1-off?) 2) the map will stay exactly the same (except with a slight touch to make "Ug-Land" change and look more "scary"). Personally,...

Re: Best Reliabilty Ride Of 2009 Goes To ..

Probably Duel. For all that I know, this ride broke down very few times this year.

Or Rapids. But that can't really have much unreliability.

Re: The best and worst queues

A quick overview of what I think: Spinball Whizzer: really good fun. Got to play on one of the pinball-themed games for ages as the ride broke down. Nemesis: again, very good. The way it interacts with the track/ride is fantastic and at some points it's really quite scary. Never seem to be queueing ...

Yep. Couldn't agree more. They do their job and that's the main thing.

Re: KFC and Burger King

Now, I don't really like either BK or KFC (especially KFC). McDonald's is seriously better and cheaper than Burger King and AT should have kept the contract running. I've never used KFC onsite because the last time I used KFC (motorway services), I threw up. Not brilliant. Last time i went to BK in...

Re: School Trips in October = Unusual?

Yeah, I don't quite see. On school trips I'd always go to the theatre or something.

Alton Towers would be a wicked school trip.

I agree that they probably can be annyoing on your day out.

Re: Marauders' Mayhem

Absolutely agree. This is a massive improvement over the old Tea Cup Ride. When I went on on my last trip, we were on straight away - no queuing!. The ride actually lasts a long time as well (with most rides like this, they only last a few minutes), where as with this, your on for about 5 minutes. T...

Re: Rita: Should AT should of took more time with it?

I hated it. A complete waste of time that (as agreed) wasn't thought about and should NOT been placed in Ug Land (the area it should have least likely been in). All we can pray for, is that it does get revamped at the end of this season to fit in well for next year's SW6. Just make SW6 quite a lot b...

Re: Does Alton Towers have any pubs where you can watch football

When I went back in 2006 (World Cup quater finals), they had a big gazibo thing with massive tv screens where they showed the football. They opened the monorail at the end of the day for longer since they lost - although I wasn't really paying much attention to the game itself!
