Re: Alton Towers 40th Anniversary in 2020

Whatever Alton do for their 40th birthday, I hope it’s better than what Thorpe have decided to put on. I think that the very least we should get is Towers Street all decorated with the big birthday cake at the bottom, some specific merchandise like Thorpe have done (which I very much approve of) and...

Re: Derren Brown's Ghost Train - Rise Of The Demon

I too rode DBGT at the weekend, and I was far from impressed with it. To begin with, once the group in was in was batches into one of the two holding areas, we must have waited at least 20 minutes before moving through to the pre show room. That passed largely without incident (although the smoke ef...

Re: London Entertainment Resort - General Discussion

Well that’s..........uninspiring.

Even if this project does end up seeing the light of day (which I highly doubt) I can’t see it being anywhere near the standard that was originally conceptualised.

Re: Nemesis - General Discussion

I don't find Nemesis rough in the slightest.

Considering she's 25 years old, she's ageing very, very well in terms of a ride experience.

Thank you everyone for coming!

It was such a great day and I can’t wait to do it all again at Thorpe in a couple of months.

Mind the gap.....

Re: The Future of Hex

Shame, I can't see it being around much longer. I’m not sure what is making you say that? On opening day, Hex was making some unusual noises when the drum got to a certain position during the ride sequence, and I believe it was closed on the Sunday. I wouldn’t be surprised if there is an issue with...

Following the launch of The Haunted House Monster Party yesterday, Legoland have announced on their Facebook page that due to technical issues, the ride won’t be open today. We’re experiencing technical issues with the Haunted House Monster Party, which means that we won’t be in a position to open t...

Part of The Smiler soundtrack is quieter, and people are disappointed they can't hear it so well? Sounds like a brilliant improvement to me! :sus:

The coaster is completely different to others as it has sudden drops, so the forces will be different, something which I think people forget sometimes.

It’s not the drops or the forces, it’s the way the car bounces along the track like a runaway shopping trolley with a wheel missing.

Re: Thorpe Park Resort - General Discussion

Ok, so I thought that something fun to do as it is one week until I go to Thorpe for the first time since breaking that 1.4m barrier would be to preview all the coasters that I haven’t yet done at the park, which is all but one. Feel free to tell me how wrong my opinions are. BTW I’ll be doing my p...

Re: The Smiler - General Discussion

One thing I have noticed that is a carryover from last season, is that the audio track just before the first lift hill is deathly quiet. When I visited last week, the orange lights were on (having not been working on opening weekend) but the audio is still really quiet, a far cry from how it’s tradi...

Re: Alton Towers Resort - General Discussion

Anybody know if staggered openings are still operating tomorrow? Every mid week visit I’ve done so far this year, they’ve not opened anything in KC, GW or FV until 12. The only staggered openings this year are Runaway Mine Train, Congo River Rapids and Duel, which open at 11am. All other rides and ...

Does anyone know which rides have SRQ this year?

The Smiler is the only ride to have a permanent SRQ.

Spinball Whizzer does have one but it is only available on selected dates, but as for what those dates are, we don’t know. Your best bet would be to ask on the day whether it is operating or not.

Re: Alton Towers Resort - General Discussion

This is very positive news that I’m sure will be welcomed by many. After a tough few years, to see the Resort extending the season and putting a third date back onto the Fireworks event is very promising. Although, I can understand the frustrations of people who have already booked accommodation (bo...
