Re: Merlin Summer Pass

I think this could be seen almost as a direct response to claims made recently that Merlin annual pass holders living in the south got a better deal. By introducing this offer, it allows people in the midlands and the north an alternative to the full Merlin pass which some may say is not good value ...

Drayton Manor or Flamingo Land?

Having recently visited both parks, I was considering which of the two I prefer and I honestly can't decide. They are both very similar in terms of both being 'second tier' parks with a couple of 'big' rides and then lots of smaller support rides. In terms of theming, both have some ok theming but n...

Re: Europa-Park & PortAventura: 8 - 17 August 2009

I've recently spent a week's stay at PortAventura at the hotel, and here are a few things i noticed: - Furius Baco queue always seems to get much, much shorter between 3pm and 4pm, not sure why but this seemed to be the case every day - Far West and Mexico areas open at 10am, but the rest of the par...

Re: Thorpe Park: Future Discussion

It's kind of been accepted now that thorpe are now getting a new coaster every 3 years, so the next will be 2012, however an interesting rumor that i read (i think on TMP) is that they will get something massive every 10 years. So in 2012, thorpe are likely to get a coaster of similar scale to Saw o...

Re: New Euro fighter for Port Aventura???

This is why we should never trust Wikipedia really. At uni, we were specifically told never to use it as it could easily be wrong. I mean anyone can add to or edit it. I think it's very unlikely Port Aventura will ever get a Eurofighter, particularly now everyone seems to have them. If this rumor ha...

Re: Chessington's Halloween Hocus Pocus 2009

I'm hoping to get a chance to go to Hocus Pocus this season, alhough i am slightly disppointed it's only a one week event now. The first week was pretty dead last year, and on one of the days i went to the park, more than half of the rides closed between 5 and 6, leaving only a small selection of ri...

Re: Thorpe Park: General Discussion 2009

The best thing would be to wait until September weekdays, if you have weekdays free.

During September and early October, on weekdays the park only hit, at most about 2000 gate figure, often alot less on many days.

Re: Official Oakwood Thread!

With regards to New Orleans, i think you've kind of answered your own question there. The basketball, arcade and other money making games are just that- money makers which is why the park have them. New Orleans could do with ALOT of improvement. It looks awful at the moment and is, in my opinion the...

Re: THORPE PARK... How Busy?

Very busy on Thursday i'd say. It's the last week of school trips so will be rammed. Surprisingly, the following week is likely to be much quieter even though it's the first week of school holidays. Thorpe do have quite a few different Fastrack options if you're willing to spend a few more quid thou...

Re: Official Oakwood Thread!

This is the thing with Oakwood, they have massive almost world class attractions like Megafobia and Hydro and other major rides like The Bounce and Speed, in a theme park full of what can only be described as fairground rides like bobsleighs and pedalos but in a nice setting. But then you could arg...

Re: Official Oakwood Thread!

It's mostly on hill though which could make it tricky. I wouldn't be at all bothered if they did replace it, as you could say it's maybe a bit outdated for a park with more modern rides like Speed and Hydro.

Where did you hear these rumors?

Re: Official Oakwood Thread!

Where did you hear the rumor about Bob Sleigh? It's been there a long time, but it's quite popular still i think. :? Although i've never been that tempted to ever go on it. :D

Re: Thorpe Park: General Discussion 2009

One of the busiest days of the season i expect and it'll be full of school parties so not the best atmosphere either i'm afraid.

But like you say, the last 2 hours or so will be a bit quieter, but by no means empty.

Re: Ride Reliability

I think that Alton's website should be updated far more frequently than it is. Thorpe's site is great for this. It's updated several times every day so that even very short term breakdowns are listed on the homepage. To be fair though, Thorpe do have more downtime statistically so you could say that...

Re: Thorpe Park's Youtube Porn Video

I just wrote a 'Controversy' section on the Alton Towers Wikipedia page, including the Vortex/Watchdog scandal, the Saw break down and of course the suggestive stickers and video (with reference links to the clip). Well, Alton Towers has a huge section on controversy, so why not Thorpe Park? ...

Re: Thorpe Park: General Discussion 2009

They're 2 very different things surely. This is quite in keeping with the suggestive joke stickers on the back of Stealth's seats. I'm not sure how i feel about Thorpe using the whole 'sex sells' idea to promote rollercoasters. I mean i've never seen the 2 linked together before, and i've never real...

Re: Chessington World Of Adventures: Future Discussion

Yeah i noticed the extractor fans on my last visit to the park and it really does make a difference to the appearance of the theming. It doesn't look anywhere near as good with the light flooding in. However, they aren't always open. The second time we went on the ride just before closing, it was mu...

Re: Chessington World Of Adventures: Future Discussion

Has anyone noticed that Chessington have cut this year's Halloween Hocus Pocus to just one week and a day. It was originally scheduled to run for 2 weeks, like last year from 17th October until 1st November. It's now just for a week. Could this be down to budget cuts because of drop in attendance th...
