Re: The Smiler - Construction Discussion

i just tweeted them informing them that if they don't open tomorrow then they had best be changing the website. people will start having claims to a lawsuit on false advertisements. if they don't then this is going to be one hell of an embarrassment on their part. It doesn't say anywhere on the web...

Re: The Smiler - Construction Discussion

I expect the "no set timeframe" came from last weekend and is not a recent comment.

Re: The Smiler - Construction Discussion

I thought the smiler was closed for the foreseeable future? Surely TowersTimes didn't get a big statement like that wrong? Oh hang on... The news article has changed and the header removed... This post of mine may be of interest to you... Thanks for that, it is indeed interesting. Also my or...

Alton towers have changed it from teething problems to technical issues. This could mean an opening soon!

This changed a few days back I'm afraid... But I don't think it will be too long, they are still touting May 2013

Re: What ride's freak you out?

I'm pretty good with the majority of flat rides and coasters but there have been a couple of exceptions - the Air Diver that until fairly recently was on the end of Brighton Pier.  Every time I went on it I got nervous because of its position and how it went over the sea, however once the actu...

Re: Nemesis: Sub-Terra Discussion (May Contain Spoilers)

Rather than explaining gravitational law, I think it'd be better if someone could explain why people feel a difference between these and the London Extremis, or dismiss their claim by explaining that it's impossible? The argument was that weight would effect the feel of the ride, so I disproved it,...

Re: Nemesis: Sub-Terra Discussion (May Contain Spoilers)

I love it when the gravitational argument comes up! g = ri((G(M+m))/r^2) G being the gravitational constant. M being one mass m the other mass r being distance from centeres ri direction g is relative acceleration If someone plonks numbers into this, you will see that with earth being such a compara...

Re: So how long have people here been visiting Alton Towers?

Blimey, the first time I visited, Nemesis had just opened, I was a mere 8 years old but can remember a lot of details. Walking up past the rapids and hearing that music for the first time, It felt so special and magical. It really did seem like you were off on a big adventure. I remember seeing neme...

Thorpe Park 2012: The Swarm

I agree, colossus is a great ride, the airtime in the hill after the loop is fantastic! I would never say saw was in the same league of roughness as colossus though! And I find the bunny hop and the sharp drop after the brake run great fun, definitely not boring. If were talking boring then nemesis ...

Re: The Smiler - Speculation

Looking at the plans, this coaster obviously (hopefully!) won't need a worlds first to be successful.

A worlds first will be a plus, as long as it doesn't end up being trivial and just a technicality. The public won't care, but it would cause havoc on here!!!

Thorpe Park 2012: The Swarm

Saw, is not a rough ride. The track is as smooth as a bell... Yes some of the track does change direction very abruptly, but I find that part of the fun. Actually the whole reason the ride is so good!!! That bunny hop hill is intensely incredible! Brutal is a word I would often associate with the sa...

Thorpe Park 2012: The Swarm

Finally got to ride The Swarm yesterday, all I can say is wow! The area looks incredible, and is by far the best theming in the uk since nemesis, brilliant. The queue annoyed me slightly, I like different things to look at and don't appreciate meandering back and forth over the same area! Not even t...

Re: Nemesis: Sub-Terra Discussion (May Contain Spoilers)

Let's hope they continue making little improvements then! :) Going on track record... They won't. I don't feel for Alton one bit... they decide and plan what new attractions are going in. Where has my magic gone  :( Clearly though, for a medium investment, they've put a fair amount of effort i...

Re: Nemesis: Sub-Terra Discussion (May Contain Spoilers)

Erm.. how sexy does nemesis look in the fog?! Of course I'm waiting to hear peoples reviews, but if this is a very tame and unscary (new word!) ride, this would be Alton's 2nd strike, with thirteen being the 1st. I hope for Alton's sake this is good.  If not, SW7 is their final chance for me, t...

Re: Thorpe Park 2012: The Swarm

Firstly, that advert is amazing... very fine work! I can imagine a sequence of these building up to a full length. Secondly, POV... Was impressed but still worried about speed, until I had the idea of focusing on the background and not the track (as you would if you were actually on the coaster...ma...

Have people noticed that the post says:

Noise generating SOUND track.

Not Noise generating track.

I assume, this means on board audio?
