Re: The Smiler - General Discussion

Just got back from the park and it was a surreal atmosphere in there. Everybody looked miserable, on rides, off rides, walking around, the staff, everyone just in general.

Re: 2014-2019: Possible Developments?

Wow there are some terrible ideas floating around this thread haha. What are some of you taking? 2014 : Flume closes. Storybook Land gets a makeover, with Spinball being rethemed to fit the area, or the whole area being rethemed to fit Spinball. 2015 : A new water ride to replace the Flume, doesn't ...

Re: The Smiler - General Discussion

I get these breakdowns happen with every ride, but what do you think the probability of it being open tomorrow are? And if so, what time? Has Saw ever had a similar breakdown and was it fixed overnight? I believe at its opening day the v lift was causing problems Ah and that happened earlier on? Gu...

Re: The Smiler - General Discussion

So are schools going next week? Is there usually a set date for these thing's or is it just when a said school feels like going? I'm going tomorrow (Tuesday) and was just wondering what the queues might be like? I know it's not an exact science, but would you say there would be more or less people t...

Re: The Smiler - Construction Discussion

Ah well, despite my initial disappointment yesterday I'm up now and getting ready to travel to the park with my better half and family. Actually looking forward to it, even though there's like a 40% chance of rain all day, ha. I'm glad it was mentioned that The Smiler staff all have the day off, bec...

Re: The Smiler - Construction Discussion

Yeah great work, it looks great. To put disappointment to one side for a second, on a purely quizzical level I'm interested to see if it is a major issue what could be causing it. The support doesn't seem likely to me even though it has clearly been highlighted as a problem area. I just can't see it...

Re: The Smiler - Construction Discussion

Drama queen? linking the above and using nothing more than a reasonable amount of logic / common sense - I think it is safe to say it's a fairly large issue. As I've already stated 3 times already, if that was the case then it would be acceptable because its an unavoidable situation, so to resort t...

Re: The Smiler - Construction Discussion

As you can see from the TTLIVE pic that has just come up, it pretty much confirms that all the systems and electrical and small minor bits aren't all ready yet. Thats why it has been postponed ! Should be open at the weekend. "Minor Bits" that need slightly more completion or TLC would ma...

Re: The Smiler - Construction Discussion

The day before release is completely unacceptable to announce this. I had 1 holiday day left for the entire year for work and now I have none left and no time to change the date. I've already spent money on packed lunch and £50 on my car to make sure it's up for the drive tomorrow. I've been follow...

Re: The Smiler - Construction Discussion

So what is the USUAL precedent for opening day at Alton Towers? How bad are the queues normally for a ride that has just opened? I remember going to the opening day of Th13teen and it wasn't all that bad at all. I know this is on a completely different scale, but say I get in the park for 10 and imm...
