Re: The Smiler - Construction Discussion

I'd be entirely willing to take whatever's in the tent! :P But on a slightly analytical note... I think the park leaving the tent there for so long inadvertently created a source of intrigue for X-Sector, even as the area itself fell into disrepair, so the place'll feel really odd and bare this seas...

Re: Thorpe Park 2012: The Swarm

The latest photo from the Developers Diary, taken from the top of the lift hill looking towards the first inversion: https://fbcdn-sphotos-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-ash4/313649_132088653561211_115673268536083_97946_352882605_n.jpg :) Blimey, it's almost as though the ride will start in the same vei...

Bring back the comic... please bring back the comic... [-o<
Perhaps if we moan about bringing back/introducing some classic Nemesis-type merchandise they'll hear us. The taste of Nemesis soda is on the tip of my tongue.

Re: 2012: Nemesis - What Lies Beneath... Part 2

Found this on my travels, a nice view of the site from the monorail as of Saturday. Thanks to Morgan from Towers Nerd. :) Nice pic, but it's not from the monorail ;-) It's been taken over the fence from the path to Gloomy Wood, now that the trees have been felled. You can see the monorail track to ...

It's the first truly arty-type shot I've seen, so I thought I'd share. Thanks to 'waffle58' from Towers Nerd.

Re: Dragons will NEVER duel again

In complete fairness, one of the men involved in the incident received a lacerated eye and had to have it removed - all for the sake of a theme park ride. It's an incredibly haphazard decision made by the park, but I assume one of the few reasons is to avoid any serious stigma the public may associa...

Re: Thorpe Park 2012: The Swarm

Yep, and Thorpe are not happy. Not sure if Six Flags or B&M are the ones to blame though. SF could have told B&M to copy it, or B&m could have just designed it that way. Apparently not! Hi THORPE PARK Mania fans. We hope you're all excited about the arrival of THE SWARM. We're having gr...

I shall be on-park tomorrow; if my phone's camera lets me I'll shove some photos up here later in order for us to marvel over them.

Re: Future of the Dark Forest

I'd like a HUSS Jump A lot of people across a few sites seem to love the idea of a HUSS Jump being built in the Dark Forest - I just don't get it. Sure, they look cool, but having been on Sledgehammer in Canada's Wonderland (admittedly a sizeable 'Jump2') I have to say they're pretty unthrilling. S...

Re: Experiment 10

Experiment 10 was the third UK scare maze I had ever done and is now the best one I ever have done. There's a fantastically psychological edge to it and the parts spent alone were truly intense. I must've looked like a right gimp shaking like a leaf whilst the actors circled... For those wondering t...

When you're sitting up on TTF typing away and you realise you're humming the Hex theme tune. Uuuugh.

Re: 2012: New Attractions

I absolutely hate to say it, but... It sure seems like that sort of set up; with the sectioned queue, main ride chamber and what-not. I've not really looked into the Stitch attraction's sizing and the 2012's development footprint but I reckon it could be this type of ride. Feel free to wrong me. Gre...

Re: B&M Prototype Confirmed for Gardaland in 2011!

This is fast becoming my favourite construction of any rollercoaster I have followed! The hilarity surrounding trying to furiously translate all the ride's information is just fantastic, an effect most likely not even meant by Gardaland. :P I love the fact Bolliger and Mabillard are attempting to im...

Re: Shrek attraction for 2011?

I must say, it's a very tricky situation we have here. I simply can't call what's going to happen now, although my hope is just for Alton Towers to use a portion of the planned Shrek budget and give the perhaps 'jaded-with-age' sections of the park (such as X-Sector and, indeed, Storybook Land) a mu...

Re: Th13teen or Saw: The Ride?

Incredibly hard to judge; different aspects of the rides beat each other, and very evenly so. I'll try to deduce a winner through this! :P Judged on construction excitement: Thirteen wins, hands down. Judged on marketing: Saw takes this - we can all agree Thirteen's was misleading at best. Judged on...

Re: Duel for a spruce up?

But seriously, Duel has the potential to be sooo much more than a tatty laser quest-thing. I just hope Alton Towers realise that soon. :) I think with enthusiast's godsend John Wardley, the Creative Consultant for Merlin Entertainments (I believe that is his title - feel free to correct if necessar...

Re: Thorpe Park: Future Discussion

If this is anything like an attraction I rode at a Germany country theme park - the name fails to jump out at me - get ready to get dizzy. You won't get too wet (I didn't get wet at all, actually!) while riding this, and will likely come off feeling a tad sick. #-o Fun at a minor 2 hour journey brea...
