Re: The Smiler Incident 02/06/15

...it would be too fast for the track, it would create lateral g's in some inversions as the ride would have been designed to go slower. This is technically incorrect. On paper both a 4 row cart and a 2 row cart would have the same maximum speed as all objects accelerate towards the ground at a spe...

Re: Staff and Recruitment Discussion 2015

God I'd love to work at Alton, I mean it's a bit of a shame that I currently live 260 miles away from it. The actual hands-on experience would be amazing. Obviously with the whole elephant in the room thing I can't imagine Alton doing fantastically well on the whole "let's bring in people"...

Re: Rollercoaster Tycoon 4

They've single handedly killed RCT.
Turning it from a fantastic game into a microtransaction riddled pile of garbage.

Doesn't surprise me at all, but it kills all chances of a game almost as good as RCT3. We've got NoLimits anyway and theme park studio so I think RCT's time may be over anyway.

This may sound stupid but what is the jetty that they planned? Haven't heard of it.

It's meant to be almost exactly where the Picsolve cameras are - for some reason the jetty along with the plaza never materialized

Totally agree there, I too also hope they are constructing the viewing point/jetty that were in the plans. Also, which queue sign do you mean?

The one at the start of the queue , the incredibly boring and unoriginal sign. Not a touch on nemmy's or oblivions entrance

Re: The Smiler over closed season 13/14

Few things I've noticed: Main track seems to be a different colour. It's a very dim orange, so it's certainly not been deliberately painted - the only other option is that it's wear & tear. The ride has been operating for only a few months, enough wear and tear to faintly rust the track is compl...

Re: Submission to be removed

I'm glad, I'm pretty the sure the chances of me having children at some point in the future has greatly decreased due to this ride's incredibly comfortable restraints. I'd love to see another flat ride there, but I honestly can't think of what could be a suitable replacement. Submission had a fairly...

Re: Roller Coaster Engineering Career

Thanks for the reply, although i'm unsure due to the modules which I am taking. Many of my modules are based on mechanics and in my third year I specialise in the type of maths which I prefer which for me is mechanics. I am also doing a project on roller coaster design for my masters. But thank you...

Re: Roller Coaster Engineering Career

Hate to break it to you, but you are taking the wrong course. Maths is an absolutely fantastic degree to have, no doubt, but if you want to pursue a career in roller coaster engineering you really should've taken physics or mechanical engineering. The maths is important, but it's the translation of ...

Re: Nolimits 2 Updates

Is having a ride launch forwards, then halfway through launch backwards hard on no limits 2? well that entirely depends on how you want to go about it. The answer to your question though, is "learn to script". if you mean launch backwards halfway, like Full Throttle, then you'll need to m...

Re: Nolimits 2 Updates

I finally, after hours of trawling through coding, managed to make a custom scripted coaster to include a backwards reversing section. The ride is inspired by both Juvelen and Thirteen and a test POV can be seen below. Now to work out how to script scene objects. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xiQK...

Re: Nolimits 2 Updates

Can I ask, is the professional really needed. Like can someone tell me what I could use on the pro that I couldn't on the normal one? I've seen the website comparison but not too sure what that means. Thanks :) Don't get pro. There is literally no reason to get pro. There are only 4 things that pro...

Re: Nolimits 2 Updates

I'm assuming nobody has bought it then? The most major change IMO between NL1 and NL2 is the actual track creation. Instead of using nodes that tween between each other, it now uses a totally different system by tweening in the middle of nodes, rather than between them https://dl.dropboxusercontent....

Re: Nolimits 2 Updates

Roughly an hour ago, the purchase and demo links for NL2 were released.

BUY HERE
NL2 costs £30.70 and is 625 odd MB so it may take a while depending on where you live.

Re: Nolimits 2 Updates

Busch, a mod moved my topic into a post here.. for some odd reason without telling me. Didn't mean to mention twice as I didn't expect it to be here!

Thought making NL2 crap into it's own thread would reduce the amount of threads made about it... but meh

https://dl.dropbox.com/u/888382/indeeiod.png RELEASE DATE: 10th JANUARY 2014 With the advent of NL2 literally around the corner, I'd thought I'd make a megathread for it so we can contain all discussion and WIPs and such in here rather than having a thousand threads asking the same questions. Re: Nolimits 2 update 12th October 2013

Do you reckon we will see wingriders? Hope so! If they don't I'll be sad :( Wingriders won't be in the initial release but are planned to be in the simulator at some point Agh, ninja'd  :x Since i've been ninja'd , I might as well add some information in. NL2's scripting system sounds like it'...

Re: Nolimits 2 update 12th October 2013

Slightly off topic but why is theme park studio not good? I looked at updates and the detail looks the same as no limits? And it's much easier to use? I personally think it's pretty crap. Detail level isn't as high, and where nolimits 2 allows you place whatever you want whever, TPS is very prefabr...

Re: Nolimits 2 update 12th October 2013

Theme park studio is honestly dreadful, it looks visually dated already and it's got literally no customization in comparison to NL2. Wing riders won't be in the initial release but may come out in a later update the system requirements won't be that much more than NL1. Everythings running on a much...
