Re: SW9

Having visited the park the other day for the first time in a while, it's quite clear the park is missing another water ride and a few dark rides. Hex is still brilliant and Duel is fun, but it feels like there is something missing in the line up. The first thing that comes to mind for me is Valhall...

Re: Wicker Man Reviews & Discussion [SPOILERS]

Visited the park yesterday for the first time in over 2 years. Turned out there was about 4,000 school kids in the park so the Fast Track option meant we were in the park at 9 and out by 2pm having ridden everything. A mere miracle on a very, very busy day. Got my first ride on Wicker Man, on the fi...

Re: SW8 Speculation and Discussion

First reaction on the name, a little underwhelming. Only a little. Mainly I guess because we have known so long of the name and I don't like the 'Man' part being in the name, as if it's not the name of the coaster itself but naming the 'experience' and the main theme structure.  I felt the same way ...

Re: SW8 Speculation and Discussion

I'm still in amazement that we are actually getting a wooden coaster at AT. I mean, after the rumours in 2003 - I never thought I would see the day. Literally 20+ years in the making. :)

Re: SW8 Speculation and Discussion

It makes more sense, IMO, to have any ride with a 'Wicker Man' theme, placed in Gloomy Wood. The hopefully, heavy themed coaster, should bring some life to that area. It opens up a lot of possibilities with regards to Duel and any other flat rides they may incorporate as well... http://192.249.122.2...

Re: Galactica - A worth while investment?

It's a gimmick and will remain a gimmick until something better comes along, unfortunately.

Re: SW8

Excited to see this develop. It's surprising how things gather pace. Soon enough it'll start looking like a roller-coaster. I'm hoping that this is marketed correctly. Obviously a little too early for us to predict 'exactly' what type of coaster it will be (family, thrill, etc) - but from looking at...

Re: 2014-2019: Possible Developments?

Very random idea but they should open "the simpsons Springfield" or something, themed on the simpsons and the town with rides to match in! They could also have characters, and it could be aimed at everybody! I must say alton towers does need some characters and this would be perfect, ther...

Re: Oblivion - Desperate re-theme needed!

Logo change?

You crazy?

By far one or the most iconic and best roller coaster logos in the world, never mind AT.

Re: The Smiler - General Discussion

Finally rode the smiler today!  I honestly was considering not, I was freaking out about the queue over my claustrophobia but the queue wasn't bad at all. I queued single rider with my three mates- we all got on the same cart, and I was sitting next to one of them. The SRQ was large, how...

Re: The Smiler - General Discussion

Also I witnessed two riders on the smiler get pulled to one side after the ride for supposedly having taken a video while on the ride and for "copyright reasons" they had to delete the video they had taken.... Then the staff mentioned this over the speakers to riders waiting to ride that ...

Re: The Smiler - General Discussion

Do you think they would let me and my two mates on via single riders queue if I explained I have claustrophobia and panic when in large groups?? Unlikely, I know, but is it possible? I don't think you quite understand what a single rider queue is for. I do, as I've explained I get very claustrophob...

Re: The Smiler - General Discussion

Just a heads up for anyone who hasn't ridden yet.

I got told I was entering a 2 hour queue and I was on the ride within 50 minutes. The line was constantly moving!

Re: The Smiler - General Discussion

I thought I'd share some pics. Apologies for the lack of quality, I only had my Galaxy S3 on me today.  :butt: http://imageshack.us/a/img827/899/uunf.jpg The little cousin was smiling already! He loved it! http://imageshack.us/a/img850/4548/odoj.jpg Entering the main queue area. Quite a sight! ...

Re: The Smiler

After a lot of anticipation and a long time waiting, I finally arrived at the Towers today and can now add my thoughts on The Smiler! Being Fathers day, I invited my old man along to join in the fun. To make it extra special, my other half who's never been before (She's Texan and been living over he...

Re: So has The Smiler topped Nemesis?

OK, I can now post my answer.....and it's, erm.... Yes.

I can't believe I've said that. I'm a big Nemesis fan but I have the Smiler just edging it because its longer. Maybe it's because I've ridden Nemesis so many times as well...

Re: The Smiler - General Discussion

Rode it for the first time today. Ill post my in depth review later, but i was impressed. All I can say is my old man, who has been to Florida 5 times said at the brake run : "that was the best roller coaster I've ever been on!". 9 out of 10 from me. Only thing keeping it from a ten is the...

Re: The Smiler - General Discussion

Has anyone been lucky enough to ride single rider with friends and yet find themselves sitting in the same car as their friend? Reason I ask is its happened to me quite a few times. Not on purpose of course but when a two is required to fill the car and people in line are in fours, you get lucky. De...
