Re: The Monarchy - Your Views.

It would be interesting to see the regional split of the 20% not directly in favour of the monarchy. I suspect Scotland and Northern Ireland to have a much higher figure than this and hence maybe distorting the overall figures. Historical polling data shows that the figure wanting a republic has rem...

Re: The Queen's Diamond Jubilee Discussion

I keep seeing on this debate that a Monarchy is un-democratic and morally wrong.

As head of the Church of England, she would have been appointed by God. Are we suggesting that God is morally wrong?

Re: The Queen's Diamond Jubilee Discussion

I do hope that if the republicans do get their way, they do it in style.

If they do remove the monarchy along with the traditions and celebrations, then we will need an excuse to replace the fireworks event.

Re: The Queen's Diamond Jubilee Discussion

I agree that a monarchy that has substantial powers is detrimental, that's not we have. The UK's monarch has no real power. We have an elected government which can and does override the lords which is the last vestiges of unelected government we have. As an aside, the debates in the house of lords t...

Re: The Queen's Diamond Jubilee Discussion

Whilst if creating a new state i wouldn't go down the constitutional monarchy route, the simple fact is that its what our history is. Sure we could change it. I'm not sure a republic with a president is all that great. The president is 1 person who unlike our queen does have their own political agen...

Completed all parts.

Not sure with regarding the home office survey, why the need for civil partnerships would need to remain with these being exclusively for same sex couples.

Re: Do you fall quicker on Oblivion than you would falling yourself?

There is a decent simulator here http://phet.colorado.edu/sims/projectile-motion/projectile-motion_en.html where you can fire objects out of a cannon. Adjust the height of the cannon and the angle and other params to see what happens. Obviously it doesnt take friction into account but does show that...

Re: Do you fall quicker on Oblivion than you would falling yourself?

Terminal velocity is relevant. Even though neither object will reach it, if allowed to do so they would reach their terminal velocities at the same time. Therefore the object with a higher terminal velocity will have a greater rate of accelleration and hence at any point on the fall would have a hig...

Re: Do you fall quicker on Oblivion than you would falling yourself?

There are several factors that are relevant and significant. Suppose x-sector was in a vaccum and the track had zero friction and was at 90 degrees then most would agree that both object would fall at the same rate and land at the ground at the same time. Then most people would be wrong. The inertia...

Re: Voting 2012

Even though I'm not normally a Lib dem supporter, I do vote for them in the local elections for 2 main reasons. 1) When part of the council, our former Lib Dem councillor could be seen actually doing things, nothing major, but still things like having uneven pavements fixed, rubbish clearing from pu...

Re: Cedar Point remove "Wildcat"

Wildcat was in an awful state , in a real bad way when I saw it a year ago. It was only sporadically operational when I was there and always seemed to have a team of mechanics around it somewhere with big hammers. Hope they put something of a similar thrill level in its place when they get round to ...

Re: The conundrum that is Merlin Studios

It did used to be that companies used to have different trading arms to manage their tax liabilities especially where a company would create an off-shore trading arm that would "sell" services to the main trading bodies at inflated prices to avoid tax. FRS24 (financial reporting standard) ...

Second Life - Scaremaze

Whilst not strictly RCT or No Limits creation, not sure what other topic this would fit into. But after some fiddling with the musical selection youtube has allowed it to become available. My halloween maze construction in Second Life. Please be aware that due to the poor nature of the screen captur...

Re: Dine all day.

hmmm, Sounds like a great idea. I just wonder how it would work in practice. Whats to stop just 1 person buying the ticket/pass and then going to mulitple outlets or the same outlet multiple times to feed a hoard. Like .Adam said, 2 big meals wouldnt be normal for me either, and even Pizza/Pasta twi...

Re: Help! - Won't go on any rides.

A few years ago, I had a spell of not being able to go anywhere that was new. If I wasnt at home, at work, or tesco then I would get anxious and a little panicky. Considering that in my youth I was a keen climber/walker it was a bit of a shock. Whilst not beng the same as your issue, there are some ...

Re: Cedar Point May-June 2012: Planning advice.

Personally :- Fly to Cleveland or Columbus and then hire a car. Its about a 1.5 hour drive from Cleveland or about 3 hours from Columbus but all very easy driving. As for hotels there are hundreds in the Sandusky area, but I would pick one that is linked to the park to take advantage of the cheaper ...

Re: Boris Island - should it be built?

Anyone who watched Newsnight last night will have seen the real reason why it has been suggested, and also the reason why it wont be built. Its pretty simple, the people who live in the area surrounding the proposed island/peninsula development do not vote in the upcoming mayoral elections, whilst t...
