JoshC. goes to Scarefest! 15/10/12

So, yesterday I hit Scarefest for the first time ever yesterday.  I'd heard many great things about the event in the past few years, and really did jump at the opportunity to go.  Being also my first visit of the year, this would be my first experience of the anticipated Nemesis Sub-Terra;...

Scarefest 2012: Reviews

So then, my review of the three mazes!  WARNING:  Spoilers ahead!  (Just as a side note is it possible to do spoiler tags on this forum?  Think I'm having a blonde moment!  Terror of the Towers: I'd heard a lot about how spectacular this maze is.  I'd heard it wa...

Re: The Smiler - Speculation

I for one don't see the big issue about it. If AT wanted us to know what the 'gimmick' if you will is now, we'd probably already know now.  They're putting a lot of effort into creating a big build up and keeping everything secret; why anyone would want someone to post the big secret and ruin A...

Re: Thorpe Park 2015 Coaster

It's not a rumor,it was stated on the planning permission for the Snoozebox meaning,it's probably true. So with that being true, could Alton's sw8 coaster be delayed or brought forward? I doubt Merlin would cough out for 2 big coasters for the same country in the same year The application for the Sn...

Re: Thorpe Park 2015 Coaster

Actually, the next big rollercoaster is unlikely to even be a B&M. I've heard rumours recently that the 2015 coaster has been delayed for a year, and is more likely to be a B&M.  Of course, rumours are rumours, and it's just something I've heard floating around.  Unless B&M ha...

Isn't it a 15m giant spider-thing, so about 50ft? :P

Re: Is Samurai moving?

I dunno the exact reason, but pretty much - it's broke! :P

I guess they're taking it apart to find the fault / take it off site.  A lot of the floor panelling has been taken off as well it might be worth noting.

Re: Is Samurai moving?

Almost certain they won't move it.  That rumour just sounds like a complete load of rubbish in my eyes.  Where could they feasibly move it to and what would they do with the space left behind?  From what I've heard, there's a chance the ride could reopen this season, but Thorpe have s...

Re: Thorpe Park 2015 Coaster

Is it just me or does the picture on page 1 look something similar to Furious Baco so could it be another launch coaster? Those pictures show mock layouts.  They are taken from the MTDP (mid-term development plan), designed to show where the coasters could be situated. I doubt Thorpe would go ...

Slammer.

Unreliable.  Boring.  Poor throughput.

Seriously, worst ride I've been on, not just worst flat ride.  The thing is awful.

Re: Scarefest 2012

Thanks for sharing, though just wondering - is this actually legit?  The plaque itself should read (minus the blood splatter):  'The Ministry of Joy: Est. 2012', yet from the info given directly from AT, the maze and TMOJ are from the early 1900s.  Unless it's just me looking into it ...

Re: Scarefest 2012

With regards to The Sanctuary, I like the name and the little story behind it.  It's got the (admittedly regularly used in scary attractions) nice sounds things which have the sinister twist - The Ministry of Joy, 5 points to whoever had that..  Like a little girl in a horror film which tu...

Re: Scarefest 2012

Alton Towers posted this on Twitter earlier: Follow us tomorrow as further details of the Alton Towers 2012 #Scarefest event are unveiled.... right here first! #WatchThisSpace #SW The SW hashtag makes me wonder if we are in for a SW7 themed maze, which I'd love to see, or if it's a red herring. ...

Re: Quick Questions 2012

EDIT:  Was beaten to it,

I think it's the same for all Merlin parks, 12 and over. :)

Makes sense too, if they're going to charged 12 year olds adult prices, they should be able to go into the parks by themselves.

Re: Thorpe Park 2013: Possible Ride Discussion

As I say, I'd be surprised if there wasn't a new attraction, as it is a medium investment year.  Just don't think that it's something to be taken as a certainty at this stage..

Re: Thorpe Park 2013: Possible Ride Discussion

Maybe I'm missing something here, but why is there an assumption Thorpe are getting a new addition next season? Don't get me wrong, I'd be surprised if there wasn't something new next season, or at least, something to add onto Swarm (as Thorpe do like advertising a new coaster for two seasons), but ...

Re: The Smiler - Speculation

^Not necessarily.  Depending on the ride hardware used for SW7 (which could be largely dependent on the world first) could mean the ride itself is much more expensive than the standard Eurofighter, and may in fact be similar to a B&M's cost.  Anyway, we surely can compare the two - the...
