Re: Orlando & Tampa Trip Help

I agree with Ponder. We did all the main parks (except IOA and Busch Gardens) and none of the water parks (though did revisit Disney parks with a hopper) in a fortnight and had to have a few chill out days because you were looking at 14/15hr theme park days. We ate at a place I think was called Pon...

Re: The Smiler Incident 02/06/15

My point was that it was another case of sensationalism by the media, but whatever, you take that moral high ground and you hold it like a trooper. There is no sensationalism though - to say they survived is a pretty fair statement of fact. Whilst certain tabloids have indeed sensationalised the ev...

Re: The Smiler Incident 02/06/15

Not sure if anyone else has mentioned this, but I noticed the other (when I was watching TV), they had would of The Smiler crash victims on, to give their view of it reopening and what it was like to be on board the train when t crashed, the called her a "survivor" (within the tagline - A...

Re: Orlando & Tampa Trip Help

It's their own ticket I believe, not through Flex Plus - the price wasn't awful from what I can remember, however they are changing in april so the cost will be more up to date then. Also, how does the magic band thing work? Presumably as you've already made the booking, you've done this without th...

Re: Orlando & Tampa Trip Help

The best advice I can give you about Florida that was given to me - DON'T PLAN! Whilst naturally you'll need to ensure you have a general day to day idea to maximise coverage, just keep it quite casual. All it takes is a thunderstorm or heavy rain to put a downer on an hour and cause any well meant ...

Re: Galactica - 2016 Air Re-theme

I will be incredibly disappointed if it does turn out to be an upcharge. I know it's Merlin and therefore is almost inevitable, but charging for the so called 'new ride' is not going to go down well with anybody at all, and whilst it would make more money, will cause outrage amongst guests who do p...

Re: The Smiler Incident 02/06/15

I haven't clicked on the article, and I urge others to do the same. The only reason they keep spewing the story out is because people keep reading it. If people didn't read it, they'd soon stop and move onto something else. ](*,) Whilst I don't generally like The Mirror, you must admit that it's ac...

Re: Alton Towers - General Discussion

Alton Towers Resort will unveil their 2016 theme park ticket prices on Monday as well as making 2016 tickets avaliable to book for the first time. Surely they'll confirm the 2016 ride line up before putting tickets on sale? The line up is always subject to change though, so I'm not too sure what yo...

Re: The Smiler Incident 02/06/15

This may sound harsh but the person who I feel sorry for the most is the ride op in charge when it happened. Certainly not harsh, and is something that they will have to live with for the rest of their life as by all accounts the person wasn't that old. Sadly we may never know how they're coping wi...

Re: The Merlin Annual Pass

They then got in trouble with the Advertising Standards Authority, who warned them against doing something similar again, so hopefully that shouldn't be the case this year. They were told they were being naughty and the ASA upheld 4/5 complaints - only warning against repeating adverts in their cur...

Re: The Smiler Incident 02/06/15

She says how strapping herself in on the plane brought back horrible memories of the crash. Whilst this will have been sensationalised by the journalists, anyone who has been on a plane will know that they are literally just a seatbelt, and bear no resemblance at all to The Smiler's OSTRs. How coul...

Re: Ride Closures/Removals in 2016

Nemesis Sub Terra has been closed most of the season, it always seemed likely it was never going to reopen. Both The Flume and Ripsaw are earmarked for removal and Im not quite sure why people are in such uproar about them not reopening. The Flumes site is a potential future project and both attract...

Re: The Smiler Incident 02/06/15

They are grave injuries, some of which almost killed them. I'm not attempting to bash the ride, but it's a fallacy to think that they are minor injuries. If they were minor then I doubt 190 staff would be losing their jobs nor would Merlin be suffering as much as it is both on the FTSE and in a PR c...

Re: The Smiler Incident 02/06/15

..... this is just a minor injury considering of what could have happened. I loved The Smiler, and still do! I'm shocked that you would consider several life changing injuries, two amputations and 3 CPR attempts on an individual a minor injury. Opinions on The Smiler aside, that's a considerably bi...
