Re: Galactica - General Discussion

I don't know if it means anything, but they were selling off the Galactica branded cardboard VR headsets for 50p in the end of season sales last week.

Re: SW8 Speculation and Discussion

I can't remember the exact plot of the Wickerman story, but isn't there something around being chosen by the villagers to be the person they sacrifice inside the burning Wickerman structure. That would tie quite nicely into the "be chosen" tagline, no? If we're going wild with the speculat...

Re: Scarefest

In regards to losing a scare zone to replace it with a maze, I think it's important to remember that actually finding enough actors to fill all the mazes is probably one of their biggest issues at this point rather than simple budget restraints. Given how they literally have to tour around the count...

Re: Derren Brown's Ghost Train

Maybe I was just unlucky, but me and my group had an awful experience on this last week. We rode a total of 4 times and not a single one of them worked 100%. On the first run the girl turned into a polygon mesh half way through the scene, on the second run the headphones weren't working on 2 of the ...

Re: Galactica - 2016 Air Re-theme

Was disappointed to find out yesterday that they leave all their headsets on standby overnight instead of switching them off. How do I know this, and why does it bother me? Because half of the headsets now seem to have a standby message burned into their screens which can be seen throughout the ride...

Re: The Smiler - General Discussion

Well ironically one of the few things not being discounted is the original clothing range. Like I said I don't know what exactly is going on, but there's definitely a suspiciously large amount of merchandise being flogged off for one reason or another. The only other thing I can think of is that the...

Re: The Smiler - General Discussion

I noticed today that around 70% of The Smiler branded merchandise on sale across the park was being heavily discounted.

I'm quite interested to see whether they're just trying to get rid of excess stock, or if a rebrand could be on the cards for closed season perhaps?

Re: Scarefest

Considering there's an extra family maze in the towers, and molly crowe actually was a really small maze in terms of footprint , but you couldn't actually see it, I'm not surprised they've had to cut back to fit them all in. They so seem to have crammed maybe too much into the ruins the this year th...

Re: Scarefest

"This year some of our coasters will be beautifully lit in fantastical Scarefest fashion".
I hope that's as promising as it sounds. Would absolutely love to see The Smilers spotlights back. I can dream I guess.

Re: Derren Brown's Ghost Train - New for 2016

The headsets themselves shouldn't be overheating in the same way as Galactica. Galactica has a phone in each headset doing all the processing whereas for DBGT all of the processing is done on a computer behind closed doors, the headsets are merely little monitors. The frequent headset outages sounds...

Re: Galactica - 2016 Air Re-theme

I've found in my experience that just how out of sync the ride is, depends on how long the Galactica logo stays on your screen for as you leave the station. I've noticed some times it goes straight into the animation on the back rows, but other times it stays on the logo until you reach row 1 or 2. ...

Re: Galactica - 2016 Air Re-theme

When I visited last time they seemed to have a much better routine of wiping first and then drying with a cloth. The first few months they seemed to just haphazardly use one or the other in no particular order, which did seem to defeat the purpose of sanitizing them in the first place.

Re: SW8

It seems like SW8 is generally more of a whole area project. They'll be giving one of the most run down looking parts of the park a complete restart, potentially creating an entire new zone and giving the park a staple theme park attraction. Unless there is some big secret they are hiding then I wil...

Re: Ride Closures/Removals in 2016

With summer pretty much here, I am really disappointed that its becoming more and more likely that the TLC program was just a facade for shutting a big portion of their rides. The fact they're shut doesn't bother me, its just the transparency. Don't dangle a carrot and hint things like Hex getting a...

Re: The Smiler - General Discussion

This is going to be very vague, but I noticed two of the circular symbols on one of the legs to the marmaliser had been removed (the leg you go past right at the entrance). Were these removed after the incident? If so what did they depict!?

Re: SW8

One thing that sticks out as a huge success of the Smiler to me is not the theme, but the branding. The colour scheme, uniform, sound, logo and story were all very poignant. To the point where I can, and have, instantly spotted and recognized people wearing the hoodies and other merch out in the rea...

Re: Galactica - 2016 Air Re-theme

Unfortunately for me, Galactica seems like a case of "Just because you can, doesn't mean you should...yet". It is a great concept, and without trying to sound like a Merlin marketing exec, the engineering behind it is a technological marvel. However, the rendering hardware lets it all down...

Re: Towers Loving Care

I'm going to be honest, after seeing the TLC updates firsthand I was left with an overwhelming sense of it all being too little too late. The park has been left to rot for so long that in my opinion the things they've done so far probably only account for 5-10% of the things that the park need to fi...

Re: Towers Loving Care

I would say the similarities probably come from the fact all these new IMAscore tracks are being produced in the same era. Each track in the park highly reflects the year it was produced. Nemesis features grand orchestral pieces, common in early 90's movies, think Jurassic park etc. Oblivion has its...
