Re: Two Smiler trains collide -- BREAKING

This is awful news if true. Properly awful. I realise its not the time for speculation, but surely this is an ops mistake over anything else? Not judging, we all make mistakes, its just interesting/baffling how this could have happened if everything can be manually controlled. Surely the trains are ...

Re: SW8

Having visited again, I am now 100% behind the theories of having SW8 replace the flume. I had never really noticed how huge that area is and whilst riding I imagined the possibilities with having a huge coaster in that area. As much as the flume is a family favourite and a classic AT ride, its agin...

Re: The Smiler - General Discussion

We went yesterday and rode Smiler having first tried it in November. Gotta say, its smooth as silk and still utterly bonkers. The one mega negative was that the 'show' area had no projections working and instead we had to spend 20 minutes standing in strobe lights which led to feeling sick and a blo...

Re: The Smiler - Construction Discussion

Were Towers not planning a Gerst coaster for Dark Forest that dropped backwards vertically, or am I totally making that up?

Re: The Smiler - Construction Discussion

^they are well old......someones vision of Boz's washing machine effect from what i remember. THERE IS NO WASHING MACHINE! How the hell do you know that, alton towers have realised no information about the secret element, the washing machine effect makes more sense than the splitting trains idea! I...

Re: The Smiler - Speculation

Please can all the talk about decoupling trains stop. It's a rather ridiculous idea. There is no way to control them. Imagine if the first one had a quick fault that slowed it down enough to stall at the top of one of the MANY inversions (which has and does happen). What stops the train behind it s...

Re: The Smiler Train Discussion

I dont post often but thought I would now! I really like the trains. I think part of the problem was that, as usual, the enthusiast community ran with their own ideas and have been left disappointed because those ideas havent come to fruition. Theyre functional, look comfortable and fit within the t...

Re: Nemesis: Sub-Terra Discussion (**contains spoilers**)

Hugely impossible I know, but it would have been impressive to exit Sub Terra straight onto Nemesis itself. I can't even begin the imagine how they would do that, but it would be an amazing tie in to the story and make it an incredibly thrilling adventure experience. For the record, I absolutely lov...

Re: Nemesis: Sub-Terra Discussion (May Contain Spoilers)

At the end of the day though, people are allowed to get excited, it's all part of the joy of theme parks and if a ride doesn't meet whatever expectations people may have then they have that right to say it wasn't up to scratch. But to judge something based on your own skewed expectations is a tad u...

Re: Quick Questions 2012

Probably impossible to answer, but does anyone know what the crowds are like at the weekends in April? We're going on the 21st and considering buying fast track if its going to be busy.

Re: Nemesis: Sub-Terra Discussion (May Contain Spoilers)

Long time lurker, rare poster here. Hi! Personally, having been following the topic of Sub Terra since day one, I can't help but think the disappointment is, as per usual, down to overblown fan expectations. This can be down to repeated rumours being mistaken for fact, or of course enthusiasts star...

Re: 2011: The Honest Truth

Okay, I'm happy for my name to be added to this on the condition that we do more than just send a two page rant about how bad some things may have become. I mean, let's face it. Anyone can complain but the better man provides solutions too. So instead of saying this, that the other thing could be b...

I would say you are only not getting your knickers in a twist... but you seem to be deliberately swimming against the flow to see where it takes you... But ofcourse I don't know this, just my impression so far. ...or im looking at it objectively and not making a fuss about something that really doe...

Re: Oblivion - Now sponsored by Fanta

I didn't take business studies, and I doubt I need to regarding this matter. No they do not need the money, and thats not the reason they did this sponsorship... They did the sponsorship because they are greedy. You seem to be posting in this thread as if you know more then everyone else... ...

Re: The Next Major Coaster To Depart

As many people have said already, none of them are going anywhere anytime soon unless something disastrous happens. They are permanent structures that are still incredibly popular. They'll be there for decades.

Re: Oblivion - Now sponsored by Fanta

Clearly they do, hence why they've done it. Some people need to go back to their business studies lessons again. ---- Post Info Added ---- See, if anything it brightens what was an incredibly dull and lifeless area. I would challenge anyone to prove how any member of the general public would look at...
