Re: Universal Orlando Resort

In Universal the now and just managed to get a soft opening ride on Race Through New York Starring Jimmy Fallon. I also got to finally do Kong. It feels like Universal - who brought world classics like the Hulk, Jaws etc - have just stopped trying. Today I went on: Spider-Man: a moving 3D simulator ...

Re: The Smiler - General Discussion

The company should be fined. It was made quite clear in court today that employees - operating a large piece of industrial machinery - hadn't read operating manuals and had trained only by shadowing others on the job. That's unacceptable and it's the fault of the company for not ensuring regular &qu...

Re: The Smiler - General Discussion

I'm actually quite disgusted that a rollercoaster crashed and it took 17 minutes before anyone dialled 999.

Re: Ride Downtime 2016

I had the joy (genuinely I loved it) when I was on park back in May of Oblivion being stopped just before the stall section at the top, for about 20 minutes. Great views of the park. The station team got suited up and came up on the harness and used (something I'd never noticed) a phone at the top o...

Ayr funfair accident

Sadly not a great year for the funfair up here in Scotland. Scottish airshow was on in Ayr this weekend and within the town - although not affiliated to the air show its self - came the annual funfair visit. 3 children thrown from a "move-it" ride. http://news.sky.com/story/three-injured-a...

Re: Alton Towers Resort - Quick Questions

Heading down to AT on Sunday 18th September. Staying on the Sunday night in Uttoxeter. I've checked and the park is open on the 18th and 19th. (Sunday and Monday). Would it be fair to assume the park will be quiet on Monday 19th given that both Scottish and English schools (and I believe college / u...

Re: M&D's

The park entrance is effectively a leisure centre like you'd find at a Haven / Butlins resort. You walk in and on the left is a pub / restaurant, a bowling alley, arcade and pool hall. On the right is more arcade machines and a kids soft play. Straight on is the entrance to the "theme park"...

Re: Universal Orlando Resort

I was at HHN 25. Going back next April so can't afford to go to HHN 26.

My all time three favourite horror villains are Freddy, Jason and Michael.

Got to freddy v Jason at 25 and gutted I'm missing this one!

If they did a scream house I reckon I'd have to find the money and go.

Re: M&D's

I live about 15 minutes away from M&D's.

I don't think - sadly - it's come as a surprise to anyone.

This isn't a theme park. It's a funfair with a permanent residence.

This will be the end for it. It was a dump before this and it won't come back from this.

Re: Rollercoaster Restaurant - 2016

Ate lunch there today.

£42 for myself and the wife. 1 main course each and 2 soft drinks each.

I'll be honest. The food was bang average and I won't return.

The burger was of no better quality than that you'd get elsewhere from a fast food outlet in the park.

Re: Hole in one at the golf

He had to wait whilst the footage was reviewed a few times, then they called a pair down from the office to go in the boat and check. Finally someone from the cash office came down with £1k. The best part? The staff. The lad and the girl running the stall were genuinely made up for the guy. They sai...

Hole in one at the golf

Well done to the lad who just took a grand a minute ago.

Awesome to watch.

Re: Alton Towers Resort - Quick Questions

Making the trip to Alton Towers on Monday 23rd May.

Sorry for the monotonous question - but can I assume it will be pretty quiet?

A Monday, in the middle of May, schools are all in (I believe) which really only leaves students finishing up for the year?

Re: Universal Orlando Resort Discussion

If HHN26 is anything like last years, unfortunately the Kong ride will be irrelevant as the park shuts early and isn't involved with any of HHN, with all of it taking place in the Studios park.

Re: Cobra's Curse Busch Gardens 2016

Just back from Busch Gardens. I'd be amazed if this opens for Spring. Weather over there hasn't been too clever recently and it only looked like a few supports were up. Shame that Montu was closed during construction. On a plus point - Falcon's Fury is a proper palm sweater as you're slowly raised 3...

Halloween Horror Nights 25

First time ever doing a Universal Halloween Horror Night - and I was dreading doing it as I hate scare attractions. But WOW. Universal do them so well. 9 houses in total and we did them over 4 nights as we were fortunate enough to be staying on site. Most queues - unless you went in early - were 70 ...

Re: Race Through New York Starring Jimmy Fallon - Uni Orland

Not long back from HHN25 and rode Twister for the last time. Rita Fan - it was a fantastic SFX show. 5-10 years ago. It's become so dated and large parts of the show didn't work properly when I rode it. The cow flew through the air and it wasn't even dark enough, so you could see the cabling moving ...
