Re: New to the forum? Introduce yourself here!

Hi. Carl here. The old skool SouthParks guys will know who I am. ;) I did post on here years ago, but drifted away. The Southern Screamer event has drawn me back again! I'm not a hardcore Alton Towers fan, but the worlds best B&M Inverter gives me enough of an excuse to visit every now and then.

Re: Thorpe Park History

Cine 180 wasn't 3D. Films were projected onto a dome shaped screen. The only film that I can recall seeing involved a fire engine speeding (obviously) around various streets and country lanes before smashing into a pram. I remember having to hold onto the grab rail to stop myself from falling over!

Re: Nemesis: Sub-Terra Discussion (May Contain Spoilers)

It's a new ride. People are going to queue regardless. Most of the 'general public' have no idea what the ride entails (in specific detail anyway). It's only once they get off that the reality will sink in.

Re: Thorpe Park 2012: The Swarm

Personally I had no problem with the restraints in regards to getting tighter during the course of the ride (unlike G-Farce's). In fact, I found them extremely comfortable. The only thing I found annoying in regards to the trains was the extra sticky-outy metal bar near your feet at the front of the...

Re: Nemesis: Sub-Terra Discussion (May Contain Spoilers)

I'm pretty sure that the majority of enthusiasts knew that Nemesis: Sub-Terra was going to be a jazzed up version of Extremis from day 1. Riding it and coming off feeling disappointed is just a confirmation of their low expectations. Not necessarily because they thought that they would be experienci...

Re: should the seperate scaremazes be free?

You obviously haven't been to the AMAZING Tulleys Farm Shocktober Fest, gazag. :P After last nights experience at Tulleys, I can confirm that Alton's upcharge mazes are NOT value for money. And Shocktober Fest's attractions consist of a LOT more than 2-3 gazebo's being strung together. They al...

Re: Scarefest 2011: General Discussion

Picking up on Nightfall's point, I don't even think actors improving have anything to do with them not initially being "at their best" it's more just the way theatre works. The first night of a show will never be anywhere near as polished (in both acting and technical capacities) than a p...

Re: Scarefest 2011: General Discussion

I'm sorry, but the mazes shouldn't be getting better as Scarefest goes on. They should be consistently awesome from the start of the event, right through until the finish! After all, it only lasts just over two weeks. Paying 12 quid for a couple of mediocre mazes that have 'apparently' improved in ...

Re: Scarefest 2011: General Discussion

Here are my reviews of the Scarefest 2011 attractions: Terror of The Towers - Really good. But not as good as the 2007/09 versions (in my opinion). The strobe maze finale had the same awesome soundtrack, but didn't feel as intense as I remember it being back in the day. The Carnival of Screams - Was...

Re: The Flume --- Future

Why hang on to a 30 year old ride system that's showing its age? Simply adding random bits of themeing would be like polishing a turd in my opinion. Much like Flume: Unplugged. :P I think that it needs to be torn down and replaced with a brand new family friendly water ride that doesn't soak you to ...

Re: Thorpe Park 2011

I was at Fright Nights yesterday. The park was pretty quiet all day and was practically dead by the end of the evening. Onto the mazes: Experiment 10 [spoiler:2eu6ktrp]I can honestly say that I really enjoyed Experiment 10. I was expecting the traditional horror maze set up, so was taken by surprise...

Re: Charlie and the Chocolate Factory: The Ride

Here's my revised review from back in 2006: Oh dear, oh dear, oh dear. Where do I begin with this mess of an attraction? OK let’s start outside shall we. Nice enough façade. But it’s a shame they didn’t bother covering the exposed bits of warehouse building. The queue line is fairly non-descript sav...

Re: Britain needs Floorless!

I've yet to ride a floorless coaster thats bowled me over with its awesomeness (must get myself over to Spain at some point ). In my opinion, what Britain is missing and in dire need of is a B&M Mega Coaster.

Re: Evening Mini Meet: Wednesday, 19th October 2011

I'll be at Alton that day/night (I'm also there on the 18th), so will look out for you all on park. I'm still a relative n00b around here, so it would be cool to meet some fellow TTF'ers for some maze/ride action!
