Re: The Smiler - Construction Discussion

Everyone gets in the park at the same time now, you just can't ride anything without an ERT ticket. So you should be fine to enter the parka and go and queue. Until about midday when all the press crap is out the way and it actually opens!

Re: The smiler opening day

There will probably be a soft opening for MAP holders, The part will be very, very busy tbh and the park will probably close its gates by 11am due to overflow of people so get there very early. These are my thoughts anyway. May I ask what you are basing these thoughts on, as these points seem very ...

Re: The smiler opening day

As I'm aware there are some Towers veterans within the community, I thought this would be the appropriate time to ask questions about what happens on a rides opening day. I've got a few, and I have no doubt that some others will also have questions to add. 1. What happens at the plaza? Is ERT stric...

I don't give a shiny if it is marketable, as long as it rides well.

Re: Alton Towers: Songs That Fit Perfectly With Rides

Bizarrely, for a song that isn't heard anywhere often, this seems to be on the radio at some point during my journey to the towers every time I go. No idea why.

Always makes me think of enterprise for some reason.

Re: The Smiler - Construction Discussion

Some of us are describing the grey sort of box which runs along the floor of the ride area, This. :) Well if that is the maintenance area, which I think is correct, it would also make sense if that was the power source  for the site and therefore explain why it has been left there and covered ...

I think I remember this too, pretty sure it did exist.

So what is that boxy looking covered bit left over from the tent? It is the old indoor queue?

Not sure what you are referring to?

EDIT - Do you mean the corrugated roof sticking out of the hoarding in the second last pic? That's the old fast track ticket machine shack. Why is it still there?

Storm Surge anyone? No?

Valhalla is on another level to anything else on that list, I should be able to vote for it three times as it wins in all three categories!

Re: Nemesis: Sub-Terra Discussion (ATTRACTION CLOSED 20-25 MAY)

I find it astonishing that they appear to be adding an element that is effectively a year round scare maze considering Thorpe have not managed more than one complete season with one before deciding the cost is too great to keep it running, and Alton are already unable to afford to open everything th...

Re: The Haunted House

That vid. 04.15 - Seeing Wardley pick up a file marked 'wood coaster' does strange things to me. If only.

I think this year duel is pretty damn good again, it is like a new ride compared to the last couple of years.

Re: Why is the whole of X-Sector closed?

Assuming the article a couple of pages back is correct, which I have no reason to disbelieve especially as it includes direct quotes from the police force, then this is not a mental health incident. If police turn up and it appears the person is suffering some sort of mental health problem they woul...

Got mine yesterday, Scarefaest on a Wednesday. Well impressed with that, before now I've got a couple of days before it starts for both Thorpe and Alton with these offers.

Re: Nemesis: Sub-Terra Discussion (May Contain Spoilers)

But what you have to take into account is that being shouted at or told you are 'wobbly' by a member of staff is something that some people may get upset by. It may even be something that ruins their experience of the park that day and makes them think twice about going on the ride again, or even r...

Re: Nemesis: Sub-Terra Discussion (May Contain Spoilers)

I have one major issue with Sub-Terra at the moment, the staff. Today they were in my eyes awful, especially one who I seriously considered complaining about. Shouting very very loudly at people; including families, to run through the queueline as fast as they can when the ride re-opened is appalli...

Re: Ride operating conditions

Sever fog will close many rides where the whole ride can not be seen due to the conditions. Thunder Looper was always down because of this, and I think it happens quite a lot with Runaway Mine Train and the water rides. A minimum temperature also applies to most outdoor rides but I think the exact f...

Re: Thorpe Park 2012: The Swarm

The only labelled fire effect was called the "fire engine explosion". I don't believe there is one on the plane unless it's that second button labelled as Helicopter Blades in which case either I miss read it or they miss labelled it. I'm fairly certain that the fire engine is the only ex...

Re: The Smiler - Speculation

I don't know if it's just me but I can't understand why they would want two vertical drop rides next to each other. Good job they haven't got that then. You looked at the plans? No vertical drop shown. Although it might seem like it from other examples, Eurofighters don't have to have a vertical dr...

JUST WENT ON TODAY It was HORRIFYING...... In any case it was great ride and it scared me thoroughly. Are you emotionally unstable, or have they improved it a lot ?!! I know others have enjoyed it to varying extents, but this is the first review I've seen where someone has found it actually scary. ...
