Re: Scarefest

First scarefest in a few years, but looking forward to it! For the first time we are also visiting on a weekday in half term. I expect it to be busier than a weekend for sure. How is it usually based on other years? Any day of the week particularly better than others? The family wants to see what th...

Re: Alton Towers - General Discussion

That's right, they have Fasttrack on Hex (the ride that never has a queue ever)... As someone else previously pointed out, this isn't new. It's always been there. I remember using it once (when hotel guests used to be given free fast tracks, around 2004), when the queue was over 1 hour. And althoug...

Re: Derren Brown's Ghost Train - New for 2016

Interesting. The 2nd photo embedded in the Star article (with Derren looking over the woman's shoulder, wearing vibe) was in the Metro yesterday morning. But it was used to promote his show for that evening, not the ride. Obviously it's possible they just used that photo anyway as it's recent, but w...

Re: Thorpe Park - New Indoor Attraction 2016

http://www.themeparkreview.com/forum/files/cugx2mru8auf8lt.jpg this is part of the dynamic atractions booth at iaapa. It shows cogs and other marketing material such as a pocketwatch on their sign so they could possilbly be the manufacturer. Its just a bit of speculation but i thought i should shar...

Re: Fright Nights

I'm off to Thorpe tomorrow,my first time but my fiancé went years ago. Any idea how busy it might be so we can make a plan of attack?

Thanks in advance.

Re: Alton 2014

I've never seen the 2nd. Demon with the rat in his hand before. I have been on this ride many, many, many times and have never noticed it before, despite always sitting on the right hand side of the car. My partner has also never noticed it, and we usually pay a lot of attention to theming. Is this pe...

Re: The Smiler over closed season 13/14

I'm with you there-the restraints stank and it was very rough indeed. A contrast to last year. I hope this isn't a sign of things to come, as i like the ride, but not this rough!

Alton 2014

Had a mixed day today at AT. Started off pretty badly, only 2 rides from 9.30 to 2pm. Thirteen was having some major downtime issues this morning, and was only running 1 train for most if the morning. The staff also seemed rather unprepared with breakdowns and general safety procedures eg. lap bar c...

Re: The Smiler - Construction Discussion

Been on park today. As previously mentioned, mesh being welded and also a car was craned on to the track earlier. Hardly 'unforeseen'. Also worrying is that today they only just put an air phone on the first lift hill, and fabrications and studios north were on site, looking at the fences. Seems they...

Re: The Smiler - Construction Discussion

Truly, truly gutted. Now, if this ends up opening before I leave to go back home on Wednesday, I am not going to be a happy bunny  :( I know it's probably in the interests of safety, but this is very poor planning. I know where I'll be heading first thing tomorrow...guest services...

Re: 2013 Bus Timetables

they haven't axed the bus from Uttoxeter at all its just a couple of times you got to be aware off if you miss it and well have got a two hour wait , So does that mean no service from uttoxeter train station as well? yes there is a bus that picks you up from the station too but only two before 10am...

Re: 2013 annual pass drinks capsules ANGRY

I don't agree with this policy at all. It won't affect me too much, as I'm always there and I only share it with my fiancé, who never goes alone. Sure, sharing between a huge number does make a loss eventually, but soft drinks cost pennies to produce. And I've never once been asked to show my annual ...

Walked on to nemesis 4 times in a row last september, but could have gone on more. Me, my dad and sister were the only people on the train. Awesome!

Re: X Sector Refurbishment

I'm really looking forward to seeing the final result, it's been so long since she's looked this good. She was well overdue a repaint. That said, so is the station. I really hope this is going to look better by the start of the season too. Otherwse though i'm pretty impressed with X-Sector, it's fai...

Re: The Smiler - Speculation

I know this is off topic but are there any past Alton Towers coasters that have had delays regarding the opening date just like The Smiler? I know Stealth in Thorpe Park was very problematic. With constant breakdowns for the first year Thats launches for ya. Love em but they can be a pain. Rita was...

Re: Ride designer John Wardley to retire

Any one know if they would consider building the attractions he designed that were never built? like sw 1 & 2? would be a great way to thank him for his work! I'm sure it wouldn't be considered. I can't remember if it was SW1/2 but the manufacturer has been bankrupt for years now, and John rode...

Re: Ride designer John Wardley to retire

I had heard rumours of JW’s retirement about April/May last year whilst working at Towers. From that moment onwards, I knew that SW7/Smiler would be his swansong. This is a sad day and it will be a sadder day when Smiler opens and JW turns up for his final creations opening day.  I am sure tha...

Re: The Smiler - Speculation

I doubt it, it would probably cost extra if so, as it would require work thought photo software, where usually they'd just print it. People could easily edit the photo themselves if they scan it.

Re: The Smiler - Construction Discussion

YES! Sam gets it fire just to scare you BRILLIANT! I never said there wouldn't be any anywhere near it, I'm sure there will be fire judging by a feature from the Sanctuary, but I was just saying your idea of it being on the track wouldn't happen. It's far too dangerous. I do think we will also be s...
