Re: 2015-2019: Possible Developments?

So two applications are Awaiting Validation on the Staffordshire Moorlands District Council site. ⋅  "Extension to the existing 'Air Shop' and the installation of a new themed entrance feature" - Link ⋅  "Certificate of lawfulness for the lawful implementation of ...

Re: Third Hotel - Lodges

Not sure if anyone has seen this yet but the documents for the lodges application are up on the Staffordshire Moorlands District Council website: http://publicaccess.staffsmoorlands.gov.uk/portal/servlets/ApplicationSearchServlet?PKID=51414 There are a lot of elevation drawings and site plans that a...

Re: The Smiler - Construction Discussion

Source: @jadeconomist Nice shot: http://img199.imageshack.us/img199/875/blgypjwcqaatdf2.jpg I know people have said that the plans for a plaza are no more and you can't get down to the area around the Marmaliser but I was just wondering if someone could explain what the paving is for at the bottom ...

Re: 2014 Lodge Resort Development (SCRAPPED)

This is pretty disappointing news. I thought the plans were quite good. I can only hope this means they can redesign them and come up with a better scheme.

Re: The Smiler - Speculation

Given all the talk of projections and lighting effect etc. I wonder if they have any plans to enclose the indoor section before the lift hill (to keep it dark) with some sort of automated door that opens to let the train through?

Re: The Smiler - Construction Discussion

I understand it's personal opinion whether people think there is a washing machine element or not, but I'm pretty sure people are setting themselves up for disappointment if they convince themselves there is one. It's much better to be sceptical about it, then if you are wrong it just means the ride...

Re: The Smiler - Construction Discussion

I think people who are suggesting that 'the disorientator' means the secret element is the 'washing machine' are clutching at straws. As has been said, every bit of the construction has been followed on these forums and for them to put a mechanism like that in they would need a lot of time and space...

Re: The Smiler - Construction Discussion

I'm curious to find out whether they're going to put the other 3 theming elements in as per the original plans. Presumably a games stall doesn't class as theming?

Re: The Smiler - Construction Discussion

This does look suspiciously similar in shape to that ice cream van... But perhaps this is the surveillance van that appeared in the original plans. I have to admit I'm a little sceptical however, I hope they still intend to put in all the other bits of theming. They have done a great job on the marm...

Re: The Smiler Train Discussion

I think there will probably be a disembark area behind the loading bay as seen in this screenshot of the game (taken from an earlier post I made about the station layout). This allows for a conveyor belt systems of unloading, moving the train on, and loading to make throughput quicker, this way you ...

Re: The Smiler - Construction Discussion

New poster here so hey there everybody! Been watching this forum for a while now and finally thought i'd input my thoughts. I think this ride looks absolutely immense, look at it! Just look! The sheer size of it and magnitude is something never seen before! What i am curious about is the various el...

Re: The Smiler - Construction Discussion

I don't think it looks bad at all, with pipes all over it and smiler logos and other patterns painted on it like in the game, I think it will look pretty cool. I agree, but the danger is if they don't look after it, it could end up like this: Does make the concrete look awfully dirty though! Howeve...

Just to add, its not a specific thing but a word to describe anything that masks the interior structure of a building i.e brickwork, wood, plastic panelling, glass... or in this case concrete panels...

Re: The Smiler - Construction Discussion

As posted on TST, the theming is now being added to the station: http://sphotos-a.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-ash3/150482_468043766599406_77849960_n.jpg I was hoping for some form of metal sheeting or something similar to cover the walls, but it seems like they're leaving them as bare concrete slabs. T...

Re: The Smiler - Construction Discussion

I was going to suggest these might squirt water at the trains as they pass however on second thought, as they're obviously not plumbed into the main water supply, refilling them would probably be a bit of a chore, especially as they probably wouldn't last the full day given their limited capacity an...

Re: The Smiler - Speculation

That is quite a good point actually. There is presumably only one opening in the station to the outside where the train returns, unlike the other coasters in the park where there is dispatch and return openings as well as various queue line/exit openings which allow natural light and sounds from out...

Re: The Smiler - Speculation

Apologies if this has already been mentioned but just thought I'd throw it out there for anyone else wondering what the station might be like... I've been trying to work out the layout of the station for some time now but haven't had much success, especially as it seems the side of the station you w...
