Re: Thorpe Park 2012: The Swarm

If there's one problem with the Swarm, it's that it's made every other ride at Thorpe look bad! Yeah, Stealth looks rubbish now! 205ft and 0-84mph in 1.8 seconds? What a joke! I don't think I'm gonna bother going on it next time I'm at Thorpe... As brilliantly sarcastic and witty as your post is, S...

Re: Legoland Windsor: Hotel 2012/2011 and other rides!

The Millennium Falcon wasn't big enough for you then? :P No.  ;) Only joking, the Millennium Falcon was of a good size, but still felt small compared to the numerous human-sized models (or larger) in and around the park, and was also very much one set part of a scene. Something really big, mak...

Re: Thorpe Park 2012: The Swarm

I really enjoyed The Swarm; it's great fun, nice and smooth with enough large set-pieces and effects for onlookers to enjoy. Front row is great for the first drop, but i think that the back beats it when it comes to intensity and general awesomeness. If there's one problem with the Swarm, it's that ...

Re: Legoland Windsor: Hotel 2012/2011 and other rides!

Star Wars Miniland was good fun, although I am still mourning the loss of Rocket Racers. I wonder whether they will ever add extra scenes to Star Wars Miniland in the old upstairs Rocket Racers building - perhaps the Death Star, or a Star Destroyer would be good additions? Glad you enjoyed your day...

Re: Legoland Windsor: Hotel 2012/2011 and other rides!

I just thought I'd say what a great time I had at Legoland last week for the first time since 2009. The park was very empty, which was awesome. The hotel looks very nice and very Lego - that dragon at the entrance is impressive! Atlantis was a fun experience, although perhaps could be longer as the ...

Re: Thorpe Park 2012: The Swarm

I am so pleased to hear the positive reviews about the Swarm! Very much a case of "Don't Judge a Book by Its Colour" (or should it be "Don't judge a ride by its POV")! Theming looks even better than I anticipated, and that's without all of the effects turned on (is it just the fi...

Re: Thorpe Park 2012: The Swarm

There was a very in-depth review of the Media Night from JoshC of Mania Hub. I've paraphrased a bit of it, but I'd advise looking at his (massive) post for the whole thing. SPOILER ALERT! The media night seemed to be very well done; lots of actors everywhere, including numerous army characters and a...

Re: PortAventura 2012: "Shambhala" B&M Mega Coaster

Is Shambhala part of a new theme area? I am not sure where it fits in. :) I have a feeling it is in a new area of its own, think I read it somewhere :) Not completely sure though :) I suppose that the Himalayas are Nepal/China, which would sort of fit in with the China theme. But then the China are...

It has speakers built into the trains.

Awesome! This ride keeps on getting better and better!  :D

Re: Thorpe Park 2012: The Swarm

^ By 'onboard' do you mean that it's going built in speakers etc. or something else? I surprised by Thorpe about this You Me at Six thing. I think that there's only one choice band to write a song themed around devastation... MUSE!  :P (Now imagining riding the Swarm to the tune of Stockholm Sy...

Re: Thorpe Park 2012: The Swarm

Wow - that last picture! Talk about near misses! I'm probably alone here, but seeing that POV has actually improved my expectations of The Swarm. It completes the first half of the track with some pace; it climbs to the top of the 100ft zero-G in barely two seconds. Having seen it in the flesh, I th...

Re: Disneyland Paris: 20th Anniversary

Brilliant, brilliant, brilliant news! The current Vekoma restraints are terrible, and sometimes ruin the ride. I've had the pleasure of riding Space Mountain on a really smooth day (it had just returned from a long refurb), and it was awesome. Well done, DLP. They seem to be investing into the parks...

Re: Thorpe Park 2012: The Swarm

I've got to be honest, I'm not particularly pleased about not being able to choose where you sit. I understand why Thorpe are going to do it, but with a style of coaster that has very different experiences depending on where you ride, it will be annoying that you don't get to choose where you sit. A...

Re: English Football 2011/2012

As a Spurs fan, I would hate to see Harry leave, and doubt he will before the end of the season at least.

He has previously commented on how he would find the England job boring, so maybe he could manage both...

Although, if he does leave, it would be okay if we got Mourinho!

Re: TTF Euro Coaster Poll 2011-12: Round 2, Group 5: VOTE NOW!

1. Blue Fire: It looks like an awesome ride. I mean, it's a Mack freakin' launch coaster with lap bars. That alone would put it in the top three. The layout looks excellent, and to top it all off it his some rather nice theming. 2. Space Mountain: Mission 2: I am a bit of a Disney fanboy, but in all...

Re: Chessington World Of Adventures: General Discussion

I don't see why a large impressive ride shouldn't get a large impressive station. How expensive can a wooden "hut" station like the one above be?! It looks like on the plans that it doesn't even cover the whole loading area. This would seem like a really good excuse to rid themselves of t...

Re: Thorpe Park 2012: The Swarm

Thorpe Park have updated the Swarm section on their website, with lots of facts about the new ride. http://www.thorpepark.com/rides/the-swarm.aspx Most interesting of all: Amount of theming: loads There's aeroplane wings, fire trucks, flames and more. There is also concept art of the plane engines p...

Re: Chessington World Of Adventures: General Discussion

This looks like a really interesting addition; especially the jeep ride, which does look to be of quite a high quality. The plan "Overall Concept Plan Scheme 2 03.01.2012 (Rev D)" shows an artistic overview of the jeep ride. After loading, the jeep travels round and pass a large pond (the ...

Re: TTF Euro Coaster Poll 2011-12: ROUND 2, GROUP 3: VOTE NOW!

I thought that Katun would have taken the crown rather than Raptor, although I am pleased.  I was surprised by the placing of The Ultimate; below Colorado - well I never! It's certainly shaping out to be a very interesting poll this year.

Such a tough group, and only the second round as well.
