Re: Your Best RCT3 Pictures

A few images from my old RCT3 park. These are about 5.5 years old from when the range of custom scenery was quite limited and the CTR's were non-existent. It was a monster of a park and took my computer 20minutes to load up, and then I couldn't really do anything except take the odd screenshot. I st...

Re: The Smiler - Construction Discussion

Some old images from the No Limits model. Haven't access to my computer at the moment to get it in exactly the right position, but they're close enough. http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7075/7247609296_21e1248aef.jpg http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8160/7247609068_361f2b6728.jpg http://farm8.staticflickr...

Re: The Smiler - Speculation

Don't get me wrong by the way, the ride track will definitely change. If you look at the revised planning documents you will notice that the S bend I mentioned before cuts through the new theming elements. So either they are in the wrong place, or more likely, they were done to fit the latest drawin...

Re: The Smiler - Speculation

I would agree with you if it wasn't for three letters... G. D. O That makes me question the need to accurate coaster representation, after-all they built spinball with no permission at all. But I think there in lies the difference, the plans for Spinball were ever made public so nobody could raise ...

Re: The Smiler - Speculation

and yes, I'd feel VERRRYYY sorry for the guy that's done the fantastic No Limits recreation of "SW7" Whoa whoa whao! You don't need to feel sorry for me, I enjoy doing the No Limits modelling stuff even if it doesn't turn out to be 100% accurate. I think people may be exaggerating how dif...

Re: The Smiler - Speculation

http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7096/6922239354_f7ab6a47c3.jpg The new video is now back online. As ever, many thanks to JAMMYD777 for putting this video together, and also for refomatting it so as to remove the stuttering that was encountered at the weekend. I hope it serves to keep us all excited a...

Re: The Smiler - Speculation

I rode Saw for the first time last weekend, and found it to have rough spots. The indoor section I thought perfectly smooth and very fun. It was at the bottom of the larger drops outside I noticed frequent jolts and jerks, whereas the rolls into and out of the immelman and dive loops were fine. Some...

Re: The Smiler - Speculation

There seems to be an issue with the upload of the video that has made it very jerky. I am going to attempt to re-upload it, hopefully tonight, but could be tomorrow. I have made it a private listing for the time being so only TowersTimers can access it as a "sneak peak" of what's to come.

Re: The Smiler - Speculation

Hey guys, I know it's been a while since my last post, but I think it's been worth the wait: The video of my new and improved recreation is now online. Many thanks again to JAMMYD778 for putting it together with his usual artistic skills, I think you'll agree that as long as Alton stick to the plans...

Re: The Smiler - Speculation

100 pages. Wow. To be fair to the marketing, they're learning. With a ride like this, they won't even need to try. Which is fortunate. I still wouldn't put it past them to do some stupid stunt. How about this: "Rollercoaster tester passes out on new ride. Alton Towers fear ride may be too extr...

Re: 2012: Nemesis Sub-Terra... Part 2

ECC members should be warned... the latest issue of FIRST DROP includes some revealing pictures and description of what happens on the ride (so be careful when looking through it if you don't want the ride to be spoiled).

Re: The Smiler - Speculation

Yay! All those hours slaving over my model were not in vain :-) an update on which... JAMMYD778 has very kindly agreed to do a new video of the "Mark II" model (POV and all), which will hopefully hit net within the next couple of weeks.

But in the meantime ... Bring on 2013!!!

Re: The Smiler - Speculation

An update on my model now. It's very nearly finished now, just a few things to tweak and a couple of details to add. Here are a few selected screenshots. Approaching the X-Sector sign: http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7186/6819026974_5f2b5180b6.jpg SW7 from the X-Sector sign. I think it will be quite o...

Re: The Smiler - Speculation

Towers does a lot for the area, but it causes all sorts of traffic chaos twice a day for most of the year, they should be made to do something about that before trying to increase visitor numbers further. They did try a few years back. I can't remember the full details but didn't they want to build...

Re: The Smiler - Speculation

More great work! You see, from this angle I don't think the themed centerpiece looks half as impressive as in the plans. :) It's not as "chunky" or imposing as the 2D drawings suggest, but it's still impressive. Especially from down on the plaza with it's legs stretching out over everythi...

Re: The Smiler - Speculation

A very quick update showing what I've been up to today, I should be getting paid for all this! Don't get used to these near daily updates though, might not be anything on here until the end of the week now. But hopefully, it might be finished by then :-) The spider/robot now has legs! I'm still in t...

Re: The Smiler - Speculation

Update time, and a "proper" update this time. Been hard at work on it today and most of X-Sector is finished to a standard I'm happy with. There are only a few more details to do, such as the electric fence posts and oblivion's catwalks. Otherwise it's mainly work on SW7 itself. I still ne...

Re: The Smiler - Speculation

Another quick update to show what I've been up to. All rides are now represented in X-Sector as well as all major structures. http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7049/6944725521_23143bbd33.jpg The buildings (apart from SW7's) don't stand up to close scrutiny, and are mainly there to give a representation ...

Re: The Smiler - Speculation

A day late again, and not much progress. I've been having shadow problems. They are mostly resolved apart from the fencing having an odd light shimer to them (you might be able to see it in the image below). Wasted too much time on them already so going to crack on with the rest of it. Hopefully a m...

Re: The Smiler - Speculation

Maybe. Just let me finish it first, spent over 10hrs on it the last two days alone. Aiming to have it finished within the next two weeks.
