Re: The Smiler - Construction Discussion

I'm pretty sure that these will just be for emergency. But I have been wrong in the past! If so, and I'm jumping the gun a bit here, but wouldn't they need to do a full proper test of the system - I.e. take the train, fully loaded to the top and somehow simulate a chain break AND (if they exist) rat...

Re: The Smiler - Construction Discussion

I hope Alton Towers are aware of the very serious guest problem the installation of this roller coaster will cause, because if not, the opening day could be extremely embarrassing for both AT and the guests, in front of probably the worlds press!

Re: The Smiler - Construction Discussion

So it does look like its going to be a launch.... but! doesn't a launch seem a bit of a wasted opportunity if its just launching the train up a lift hill like slope (as shown in the plans?) I would have thought if you bothered to put a launch in, you would send the train into something a little more...

Re: The Smiler - Construction Discussion

as why else would they need to concrete that whole area? Have you concidered that that area is still part of the building? And thats the reason why the concrete is still up there. I'm not ruling out a launch o no. I hope you launch up to the hill and accelerate on the hill. ;) But that concrete can...

Re: The Smiler - Construction Discussion

Ok, so I found a picture taken on the 22nd Jan (quite easily) which shows the censored area - Not wanting to get TT into trouble, and appreciating its a controversial matter - whats the procedure?

*Edit - sorry apparently its been seen before from Tattenhall Aviation.

Re: The Smiler - Construction Discussion

I'll repost my diagram, just so you can see how much space there is! Remember the train won't be going that fast, as it comes back up after dropping, so you won't need a long break run, and the 'washing machine' is likely to have brakes in it too. http://i1300.photobucket.com/albums/ag85/lewis97/In...

Re: The Smiler - Construction Discussion

Guys and gals, you have to consider the elevations as well when looking at the plans: http://i.imgur.com/QCtG2wB.png The track going back into the station on the plan goes over where it states canopy B (it just doesn't show it on the plan posted previously).  Canopy B is a single storey buildin...

Re: Say Thanks Button

Say Thanks Button

Hi just because its annoying me, on chrome (at least), I feel the "say thanks" text is too close to the "star" image/button logo thing - especially when you consider it in the context of the "quote" text and image which are a little further apart, and located right next...
