Re: Dark ride ideas

The easy option for a Dr Who dark ride would be to use the 'great glass elevator' in CATCF, convert that to a Tardis! the side screens can be programed for anything so alien worlds, space, London, alpha century ect ect. The lazy river aspect could do with being ripped out and replaced with a cart tr...

Re: SW8

For SW8 I'd like either:
New flume/water coaster
or
A dark ride in the haunted house/Duel
or
Something epic in the valley (which is v.unlikley) due to planning/height/noise (pick one!)
or
Re-build the beast! Classic!

Re: Ticket Prices To Rise for 2014

Well to be fair it works out at 2.56% increase which with inflation AT are simply maintaining their operational margins, if you want a great SW8/9/10 you have to understand that it needs to be paid for, simples! As many others have said there is always a (99% of the time) 2-4-1 or early booking disc...

Re: SW8

It will be a steel beast I reckon, part of me thinks it will be a standard coaster format, aka corkscrew replacement, as in sit down job rather than hangey one (technical I know!) with some secret weapon extras thrown in.

Is it just me, or does anyone else miss the traditional coaster style?

Re: Splash Landings Vs Alton Towers Hotel

AT hotel for me, I've stayed in both. SL is just to hot and full of little kids running around (which is fine if you have kids) AT is that little bit more adult friendly! However, food wise SL is far better than AT from breakfast and dinner (the secret garden is awful quality, I think that it what i...

Re: Solo Visits to Towers - or the alternatives

Hi All, Does anyone know if any companies or groups do trips to AT as most of my friends now have young kids and/or wife's and arn't allowed to come and play anymore (yes I'm 29 but AT is still play time !) :) and going alone seems to be a bit sad! Any hints or tips would be great (Getting new frien...

Re: What can you ride if you're pregnant?

Umm tricky one, Rapids should bee fine, Duel, battle gallons, Ice Age 3D, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, twirling toodstool and nutty squirel. TBH I would aviod the petting zoo as animal waste and baby dont mix!  Ultimatley its her own choice however if it were a member of my family or a fr...

Re: 2015-2019: Possible Developments?

Having stayed at the Hotels on site for the last 6 years running for a weekday break I think they really have to increase the offerings in that area, sure, new rides are allways needed but some decent afternoon/evening entertainment is needed for hotel guests.  As it is its great for kids but f...

I love Air, still one of my favorites!  It seems OK to me, long queues as always but still great.

Re: Remove A Rollercoaster

Sonic Spinball without a doubt, bad location, bad trough put however I would remove and re-locate it to another area of the park as its fun to ride but that would free up some space for a Storybook land re-work!

Re: A Movie Themed Ride

Dr Who would be good, they could convert Charlie and the chocolate factory to take advantage of the glass elevator system to creat the tardis, and zone the water bit with cyber men section, weeping angels and the darlics. However the cost of buying the rights would be to high for the return.  T...

Re: Future of Adventure Land?

I think the whole Adventure Land/Sonic Spinball area is a mix and match of random rides mixed with junk and delapadated 'attractions'.  As a section of the park people often see its first impression is awfull. A compleate re-work is needed with either sonic staying there, going elsewhere in the...

Re: Proposed Paramount Park in Kent

High hopes indeed, but it wont be ready for 3/4 years and even then they never open with a full set of rides so proberly 7/8 years before its a major rival to Alton Towers and if Merlin react it could be 10/15 years before its a good alternative. however, if there were to be a StarTrek themed mega d...

Re: 2013 Offers, Deals, Vouchers and Discounts

My group is planning for the non traditional visit of late September this year rather than the 8 year tradition of May due to the smiler not being confirmed as open then. Plus the kids should be at school and I cant see that many school trips in the first month of the new term. Fingers crossed for a...

Re: The Smiler - Construction Discussion

I'm not fussed if it opens in May or June but I'd rather they made sure the surrounding area was well themed. It would be a real shame if the ride is done but they slap dash the queue lines and additional theming to open a couple of weeks sooner. Allthough, if it does open in June, the people who we...

Re: Alton Towers Hotel to get Full Refurbishment

If they just clean the bathrooms properly it would be a good start! Last two hotel stays have had 'body hair' of mulitiple regions in the sink and arround the loo!

Basics first would be nice, plus the cheese board in the s/garden is a farce! :(

Re: Water Rides (Lack Of)

I'm not sure on the fiscal front, there cant be much that can be salvaged from the flume as it stands. Even a full re-furb and re-theme would cost a couple of hundred thousand £ for only a couple of years life and with nothing to shout about as it is just a flume i doubt they will 'splash' the cash ...

Re: Alton Towers Hotel & Splash Landings

If your going with adults/older kids go for the AT Hotel, for the younger ones I'd go for the SL Hotel. We were in splash last season and the young ones loved it as they had Scrat, Sid and the Acorn out to entertain them and got them dancing on the little stage by Ma's, but for older kids and young ...

Alton Towers Hotel & Splash Landings

I visit AT every year and we stay over, we've stayed in both hotels but Splash is getting tired and the food qulaity in the Alton Towers hotel and dropped like a stone over the last few years. Any know of any planned re-furb work to Splash or if anyone else has experiance the same drop in food stand...

Re: So... about SW8

My money is on a new ride on the flume site, the posters about the ducks days being nubered wernt a red herring in my opinion, I think Alton Tower just had a change of plans.  If it were a red herring all it did was highlight how badly the flume need either replacing or updating, why do a ploy ...
